Honestly wish people would stop saying this ffs.

If people want to get involved in this let them but stop telling people not to. If you don't wanna let them dream just ignore it man. Not your problem. This isn't just aimed at you it's aimed at all of the people constantly doing it.

It causes no one any harm (y)

Edit: no I know it won't happen but am quite happy reading what others are writing
Bringing this back up as all you lock the thread guys are now stalking it ???

If Utd want Bale, they’ll get Bale. That’s why Levy needs to gst it done soon while Utd is still after Sancho

This. If they give up on Sancho then agreeing to pay half Bale's wages will be easy for them so it'll be done very quickly and we'll be left feeling like the second rate club who can never compete with the big boys. Again.

After Trix's ITK I think that Levy has to have something up his sleeve. There is no way he would be talking and trying this hard without having some sort of money set aside/last minute change to details or just anything that would make it easier to handle.

TN was looking likely to leave and on big wages. He isn't now.

This definitely feels like levy’s “push the boat out” moment. Huge gamble financially but it could be the difference in getting a trophy

Also if (big if) we bring in Bale we will have for 3 spots: Son, Bale, Dele, Lucas, Lamela, Bergwijn, Sessegnon, and Sissoko-ish (who Jose said himself is not a midfielder but plays there out of necessity). That's 7 first team players for 3 roles. I just can't see Spurs carrying that much in wages and talent even with all our competitions and it not causing a lot of squad balance issues and financial strain long term. At min 1-2 got to go. Especially since you can't drop Dele or Sissoko into midfield regularly where we also now have Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele, and Hojbjerg for 2 spots.

From an emotion/nostalgia perspective ? bring Bale home. From a squad building/realist perspective it doesn't make sense to me yet.

know its going to be a hell of an outlay of cash to get this deal over the line, but you got to believe this would be a statement signing. Would really push us forward and towards trophies and challenging for the league under Mourinho. Especially with a new Striker coming aswell, which in turn brings back the big CL revenue.

Likes Erik Lamela, deal with it.

Its a massive risk but if you get a realistic chance of getting a world class player you simply have to tale it. Add Bale to this squad and suddenly we are title challengers.

Levy barely dropped a boat load of money pre Covid and when we had champions league football. I can’t see it happening now.

So, if TN isn’t going, we have to look elsewhere in the squad to scrape some money to back to make the Bale deal viable. Obvious but maybe difficult to move on are Lamela, Rose, Aurier, and Sissoko. I have no idea what those guys are earning, but I believe Lamela and Sissoko signed new deals a year or so ago, so I would presume they’re up near £100k a week? Aurier is the newest signing of those, but probably on the least money. Literally getting rid of those four, with any kind of transfer money too, would free us up for Bale. Right? £15million for each of them and their wages off the books. I’d take that. I’m guessing it’s not that easy though.

Don’t think it will happen but love nostalgia so of course am all in! I think United are using Bale to force Dortmund’s hand on Sancho myself. If they wanted GB they’d have moved early in the window you’d think. Time will no doubt prove me wrong but the manoeuvring and machinations of it all are part of the fun. It would be good for us to win one though just for that weird flashback to 94 and Klinsmann joining seemingly out of the blue.

Is Bale still actually a great player? Serious question, haven’t seen much of him in two years or so.

I may be in the minority here, but I really don't think the juice is worth the squeeze in regards to Bale, I'd prefer any spare resources put towards the future of the team and not to some kind of vanity project of the chairman.

I just hope we make a quick decision on it because if we let it rumble on for another 10 days or so we'll be looking at less time to get the other ones done and those players may move on in the meantime.

At what point do you stop thinking of future and start looking at the present and short term? Realistically how long we will have Jose for? Kane? Son? They're both late 20s. He needs a trophy winning squad now. Bale adds to that substantially. We have always looked to the future and never the present. Maybe that's part of our problem.
