I’m actually curious about the financials here and would love to know what this is going to mean for outgoing and deadwood. You have to imagine to some extent they there is going to be a big shift. A one year loan is fiscally the right move, and in some ways the best move to see if Jose is actually the man to manage us. In fact, I don’t mind the gamble because it kind of shows that there is a clock on both Jose and what is left of the Pochettino era.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this season be set up to make a major push and if things were to succeed, then we get the money to reinvest back into the side, allowing us to afford Bale for another season or two. The flip side is that if we fail to get Top 4, we know HK and Bale are off of the books, and likely a new long term manager for another “project rebuild” comes in. From my perspective, it’s a risk averse move that certainly ensures we don’t do a Leeds (which after watching too many god damn PR bits on them recently, I truly think that’s the worse case scenario and a major potential risk because of the stadium).

I don't get why people worry about it. Do people seriously think Levy, for all his faults, is suddenly going to sign a deal that has Spurs taking it up the gary? Of course he isn't. He's never been a mug in that way so why insinuate that he'd sign off on a rotten deal, if he did things like that then what sort of father does that make him :sneaky:
Well im sure everyone on the outside thinks we’re fools for accepting the buy back and first option clauses on Reguilon. But I am sure that was done with the knowledge that we have Sessegnon & Cirkin coming through

how old are you Trix ? It has a bearing. Obviously don't give me details that could blow your true Russian spy identity
Oh plenty old enough mate.

They both had a big impact by coming to England when this sort of thing had never happened before.

Point is the average non football watching house wife had no idea who they were. I mean they weren't even the biggest names from their own national team. Kempe's and Passarella were.

As far as world wide status and notoriety is concerned it isn't even debatable for me.

For all his faults, once he has gotten a deal through the one thing no one has to worry about is that DL hasn't got control of the finances in the deal.

In the case of Gareth Bale, just enjoy it. No matter the structure of the deal. :hungry:

People need to chill instead of analysing every comma. What gets released to the public domain is not always the full picture. (have you met our Prime Minister?).

And surely it was obvious to would be Friday, The team fly to Bulgaria today, of course they'll wait for Jose to come back for the photo op. That would be all over the back pages on Saturday.

I've had two kids since then!! My 5 year old can't wait to see him ☺
The last 24 hours have been a nightmare with my five year old! Every half hour I get asked if he’s signed yet along with him putting on GB’s goals on YouTube!
Last night fifa was put on the Xbox and he played with RM just because he had to be GB, make it happen sharpish Danny Boy otherwise my lad will hunt you down!

There´s been some debate in here how we can line up - there seems to be an overflow of quality and talent going forward: Kane, Bale, Son, Lamela, Dele, Lucas, Berg, Sess - adding to that LoCel and Ndom are probably best going forward too...

I think it´s time for Mourinho to give Ardiles a call!

----------------Lloris----------------
----------------Toby----------------
Doherty--------------------Reguilon
----------------------------------------
LucasBaleDeleLamelaSonBergwijn
----------------Kane----------------

Subs: Hart, Aurier, Ndombele, LoCelso, Sessegnon, Clarke/Winks, Dier (in case of troublesome spectators)

The obvious question being: is it really necessary to have both Toby and Hugo in the lineup??

Edit: Toby´s longpasses are much better than Hugo´s. So it should be:

--------------------------------------
----------------Toby----------------
Doherty--------------------Reguilon
----------------------------------------
LucasBaleLamelaLoCelsoDeleSonBergwijn
----------------Kane----------------

Ossie and Ricky will always be the biggest surely?
Thats was fucking massive. And in all sorts of ways. Easily the biggest thing transfer-wise that had ever happened to Spurs at the time and, come to think of it, English football. There's literally nothing we could do short of signing Lionel Messi at his peak that would eclipse that for me.

That's how Ossie would have us line up!

I am curius if fans of other PL teams are thinking as much about the financial side. Are Spurs fans thinking more about this as we know how Enic work? How DL has operated in the past. Or does this happen with all other fans that support a PL team.

Massive signing but not in the same bracket as bale status wise. I'd say Klinsmann was the last and arguably only world renowned player we have signed.

Probably right but vd Vaart was a favourite of mine way before we signed him, I was living in Amsterdam and a ST holder there when he broke into the Ajax side and he was superb

When did we last sign a player with anywhere near the profile of Bale? Was it Klinsmann, or even further back?

That's the sign of the times we live in now as well. They're not just footballers now they have so much exposure beyond that. Beckham really started the trend of having your own brand and numerous sponsorship deals. Bale is a massive player commercially and I'm sure the likes of Klinsmann would have been in this day and age too. In terms of status you may be right. In pure football terms I think the Ardiles and Villa ones were the biggest.

They are making sure the Oxford comma is there.
