Gareth is living the life. £600k/wk to play golf and show up to training to kick a ball around. Ultimate snake it till you make it

The only way for this to be remotely possible would be if Real Madrid paid the large majority of his wages, and his loan contract with is based on ’pay as you play’ and bonus related. There’s no chance we could afford to pay someone £200k+ a week who could potentially be just buggering about on the bench every game.

A slim chance, but it really depends on how desperate Real Madrid don’t want him around next season. It’d be a risk whatever, but perhaps a risk worth taking if the financials can be sensible with regards to what is happening at the moment, both in terms of the financial implications of COVID-19 as well as his situation at Madrid.

I know it's a longshot but Real could possibly cancel his contract and offload him to us for free or loan him to us which they pay his salary. If they want rid of him, it's possible imo

Why would Bale agree to have his £600k a week contract terminated?

Well, let me rephrase that - buy out his contract and offload him. It could be a realistic move if Real are fed up with him and wants him out or they could just end up with "Winston Bogarde" for the remainder of his contract.

Well he would still have to agree to it, he seems happy playing golf in Spain, I don't think he'd be bothered coming here.

2 years of us paying £200k a week saves RM over £20m, just saying

Exactly, too many people seem to think the club that signs Bale would have to pay 600k per week, or that Bale needs to cancel his contract etc. The reality is, Bale has shown Madrid he'll sit around and collect his wages for doing nothing. Zidane doesn't want him. So their best realistic outcome is to off load a significant amount of his salary, by loaning him out. But there just aren't going to be many clubs willing to pay even half and a third is probably most realistic. If Bale wants to stay in Europe, then there are realistically only going to be a few potential destinations. Juve at a push, maybe the Milan clubs and in the Prem, if we wanted him, we are probably his only option. I can't see him agreeing to a move the Leicester or Everton.

I think he'll go to China, but his 600k salary, is no where near the impossible hurdle it's being made out to be.

He isn't going to China, they have a salary cap now. He'll probably just see out the remainder of his contract.

I think all sane people expect him to see out the remainder of his contract, most notably Florentino Perez. The question is, where will he see it out and how much of it will that club contribute. I'm definitely not saying we are likely to sign him, but I think the idea that his salary and Madrid's demands would prevent it, is no longer the case, as it was in the past.

Well my point is, he doesn't seem bothered about playing football so will likely reject any loan move anyway and just stay in Spain.

Or.... that’s the perception that he and his agent have put out to the world to give him maximum leverage with Real: “I’m really happy here with my full wage for two years, I don’t care who pays what split. Your move Real.”

Getting linked to Bale is just as boring as getting linked to Zaha every window. I can see Bale retiring after his Madrid contract ends. If he really wanted to play football he would be instructing his agent to find him a new club but all we keep hearing is the agent is a nightmare to deal with and he’s only interested in securing a ridiculous financial package for himself and Bale.

they quite understandably want to retain the contract they have at the moment, the issues could arise from the clubs trying to sort out how much of the wages they pay respectively

I think the idea would be more that the buying/loaning club would subsidise his wages.

So Madrid save money on the wages they owe him, the buying club gets a quality player within their budget and Bale doesn't lose any money from moving away from Madrid.

Any team that wants him knows that Madrid want him gone no matter what and the longer they leave it, the more of the wages Madrid will have to pay. I wouldn't be shocked if Madrid have to cover 450 grand a week of his salary just to get him out the door. If a team is desperate for him they can strike early and I'm sure Madrid will be happy to Oblige but I don't know what team that is in this environment.

He's owed 60m on his contract. Any deal would probably split it in three, where Real must pay him 20m, new club must have him on 200k a week (20m over 2 years), and a 20m transfer/loan fee that also will go to the player. Bale will benefit from getting that 20m immediately. And probably earn another year (3y contract) on 200k a week.

Don't think it's such an impossible deal. Son, Kane and Bale up front will no doubt deliver.

It all depends if Bale would rather play golf in Spain or football in England. I'm guessing golf in Spain.
