Proud of the lad, jokes aside I know the other lads are as well, prem debut and he gets MOTM, impressive imo.

Maybe he should tease Eric back and ask him how many MOTM awards he has? :-D.
Surely Dier was MOTM on his debut - scored the winner against West Ham

I've been one of the biggest critics of not having a senior right back to cover Trippier and felt aggrieved we had got into the position where we were heading into the season this way.

It's only one game but I'm more than happy to say I was wrong. There will be far tougher tests, and with those I still have serious trepidation about both our right backs, but KWP proved me wrong today.

Fair fucks to the lad, and the staff who gave him the opportunity. Great to see another young spurs lad come through.

I thought he was steady. They clearly targetted him early on and Atsu was a good test. He grew into the game and looked assured. He will need to beat his man and create that overlapping width but on an away debut it is understandable that he was cautious.

My main concern is his size. He is very small and slight and I don't see much in his frame/build to suggest that he will grow much more naturally. He will of course fill out a bit and can hit the gym to bulk up. But he will need to develop an aggressive style eg Ashley Cole/Danny Rose to compensate for his lack of physicality.

He should be understudy to Trippier for this season and the money should go where we need it more.

All in all a solid debut for the lad.

I'll second that...with a caveat. Walker was first choice against any of City, Chels, Pool, Utd. Love Trips, but when good teams stretch us across the park and have pace on their flanks, Trips ain't the answer. We lose any attacking threat on that side, 'cause he's all about defence as he has to protect his relative lack of pace vis a vis a Walker, or a Walker-Peters.

Really liked what I saw of KWP today, but it's a tough ask of a kid against elite teams. Encouraged by reported interest in Davinson Sanchez as he fits our needs in many areas; versatile, can play in a number of positions in the back line, has pace and strength, has an attacking threat. If it's not Sanchez, needs to be someone in that mold. We're going to need rotation in defence in the coming season, Wembley, CL etc.,

I'm sure Danny can show him how to puff his chest out!

In three years time when Manchester City pay £150 million for Kyle Walker-Peters, Poch will just pluck a Kyle Walker-Peters-Smith out of our academy.

Solid debut.

Considering it was senior debut, away at st.james park, at 20 years old against a well coached side - I'm sure he would have been shitting himself. But I thought he handled the occasion well and made some useful contributions. Once he bulks up a bit he will be a real handful going forward. He already put in 2-3 crosses on the run that were better than Walker managed most seasons.

One question though: is he supposed to be a pacy player? It was hard to tell from that match

Levy must feel happy now because KWP may have saved him/Spurs from spending £20-25M for a new RB.
Thus said, it was only 1 game but the Toons threw most of their attacking effort down KWP's side and he was up against an Atsu who was on fire, and yet KWP more than held his own.
I think many fans must have misunderstood - and still do - when Pochettino said he was not sure whether KWP was ready to play in the EPL now. I think he said so to take some pressure off KWP.* He could have played Dier, or even used Sissoko or Son as RWB, but he showed be had faith in KWP by playing him. Action speaks louder than words. And Pochettino indeed "acted" in regards to KWP.

Truly was a very good match from him. I liked that he wasn't scared of getting himself involved in the game. He didn't produce a whole lot and he was very easily dispossessed a couple of times. But overall, he should be pleased.

The poor kids only on £50 a week. He's taken a photo for his eBay listing. If anyone's interested it's up to £523 now. Some guy called Nobes16 is winning at the moment.

From Wikipedia: "On 4 March, Nobes16 scored his first Premiership goal and the opening goal of the game, against Tottenham at Upton Park in a game West Ham eventually lost 4–3 in the final seconds."

Emotional.
