I think the point with Kane is more to do with whether he is motivated and happy.

Any player, or employee, will perform better in a good environment.

For years Kane could have gone to a bigger club but stayed.

He is a figurehead at the club and has earned the respect of most fans.

If Poch is going to mismanage him then at best we get a world class player not performing to his premium level and it won’t be because he is intentionally not trying.

When he goes off to England he gets to see Southgate who sets up his tactics to get the most out of his best players, meaning that Kane and Sterling will get the service they need. Then he comes back to the shitshow that is Tottenham. That could be why he's unhappy with his environment.

Our season will turn around by the end of Nov, with the reintroduction of Lo Celso, introduction of Sess, Ndombele getting fully match fit and hopefully Poch still being here. Liverpool away is going to be a shit show.

It doesn’t matter who we throw in at the moment, sadly

Can’t believe Poch had cheek to mention atmosphere at the ground when his team is churning out such crap.
He didn't, he merely acknowledged that the fans were pissed off when we went behind. He even went on to explain that he gets it because he's played in really tough atmospheres in South America

Myself and a lot on here have been saying this for weeks.
As soon as I saw the lineup and formation yesterday I knew it was going to be a tough afternoon.
Its simple, play the players who want to play for the club and pick a system and stick to it.

so long as it isn't a diamond ;)

If we could get Rodgers in, I'd be more than happy to let him go. I believe Rodgers would get a lot more out of this squad than Pochettino is at the moment. It's so sad the way things have ended up.

Just compare Kane for England v cannon fodder three days earlier, to Kane v cannon fodder yesterday. England are similarly listless in approach play, but a motivated Uber striker up front is the different between a limp performance and a 6-0 thrashing.

I know what you mean, but to be fair I think all PL teams could beat that Bulgaria side, including Watford.

Very much this, though I’d add that for the first time I’m starting to think that he’s genuinely trying to get himself sacked. That would be utterly disgraceful (and a timely warning about ever appointing Mourinho).

I think he wants out, and he wants the compensation that comes with being fired.

Given his contract, Levy would probably play the long game here. Not sack Poch but continue to pay him his monthly salary and re-hire his position.

Effectively that will tie up Poch for the 3+ years so he won't be able to get a job. Considering he's young and (I guess eager to work), it will then force him to negotiate a pay off. It won't be close to his full contract, maybe 6 months wages for everyone.

Still confused by the need for a back five yesterday.

Poch needed to shake the hour-glass as it were and that's the best he could come up with.

It's perplexing. Poch was a decent old-fashioned CB. With his training and expertise and 5 at the back, Watford were still able to slice us open with ease. Not just the goal but in the second half, they should have had another 2-3 goals.

I'm sorry but this is rubbish.
Some of the best attacking performances I have ever seen at spurs (I've been going 37 years) have been under Poch. I concede that he is far from a perfect manager, but to write off our attacking play like that is plain daft.

People laughed at my suggestion of Redknapp being caretaker until the end of the season. Poch may have a higher PPG and league finish record but IMO Redknapp gave us the best football I've seen in my lifetime (born in 81). The attacking speed, passing, movement, all far superior to Poch.

Southgate doesn’t set his team up to get the best out of Harry Kane at all imo. Kane’s service for England is barely better than what he gets at Tottenham.

Sure but I don’t think you can compare international football to club football.

Club football is much more about the day to day and games are more easily matched.

International games are much more about putting a team together in a short period

I’m an ardent Poch supporter but really starting to struggle to back him after yesterday. To me the issue is that there is too much deadwood in the squad which is negatively impacting things. But what is confusing the fuck out of me is why Poch is still playing those players. If he was to drop them, refresh the team with players who aren’t negative influences then I think we’d be fine, we’d have players who buy in to what Poch’s doing and I’m convinced the results would come.

But he’s not dropping them. Why??? He did it in 2014 - why isn’t he doing it now? This is where he needs to be ruthless and show his capability as a manager. Alex Ferguson would have canned the likes of Rose, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Eriksen etc already but Poch continues to play them. This is the difference between Poch being a world class manager and not, and if he’s not going to do it and rebuild the team with what we have now, then it’ll be too late by January.

Absolutely bang on

Absolutely. But he can see the difference in how the managers set up tactics to get him service. He has the same key role in both teams. I don't see an attacking plan from us, just get the ball out to the attackers and hope they can do something.

We played some fantastic stuff under Harry. Was a strange one looking back as we had so much talent but were always making hard work of our league campaign and should have done better really. Was always exciting watching us though.
