I think it might be more about losing 'The Shelf'

Keeping the shelf where it is with the types of supporters who will be sitting there will, i think, be sad

Most have relocated because of the safe standing etc. Our new single tier stand will be iconic, why not move the previous icon area to the new iconic area

Historically the atmosphere was generated from the shelf. Now the atmosphere will be generated by those in the new South Stand
Just going to reply into this thread rather than the main one.

I dont think we'll be losing the shelf in any form. I think the East stand will be referred to as the shelf side and the single tier as the park lane. That's how I expect it to play out for consistency. The single tier will continue chanting 'we're the park lane' so calling it the shelf wouldn't really work. Unless we refer to the 2 corners as the shelf and the main tier as the park lane. It will of course be different now that the away end has moved. I guess you could have the park lane chants from the main tier, and the shelf chants from the 2 corners which in turn gets the ends of both East and West stands involved together as well. It may increase the noise levels of the shelf chants and make it less one sided towards the park lane chants.

The park lane is 'the' main level of noise so the single tier will be perfect for that to continue. The shelf chants have really died down over the years but I agree we need to keep it alive (or even revive it somewhat). You still get that pocket in the corner between South and East and then it filters across a little into the East. If you had it from both corners and get enough East and West involved it makes that whole half of the stadium even louder and more intimidating. I really do hope that the new stands reinvigorate our home support. I know Wembley has died off so much the more we've spent there. Although WHL wasn't always loud, mostly for the big games only. One of my favourite examples of how great it can be was the Fiorentina game (although I only watched at home)

Just got this example off Youtube

Chosen One mentioned calling it The South Bank

Liking the sound of that. Cannot have Kop anywhere near the reference to that stand, end

Losing The Shelf will be very sad although I’m sure chants will start up in The South Bank re We're The Shelf side.....

So make it sound more like Arsenal’s North Bank then?

Do the scum still refer to that at Cashburton? I know they still have the clock at one end

Actually would be amazing to have a South Bank. Could in a small way remind that lot from South London what they lost

It was just the first thing that sprung to mind when you said it. I’m still in the ‘WhiteWall’ camp. If we are going to nick a name then at least not an English team who’s fans you face daily.

Better still, Park Lane.

I was in the "shelf"/east upper that night. Terrific atmosphere during the whole game. When I think about the WHL "wall of noise" I think of this and the Milan game as the benchmarks.

Park lane

I reckon the other area of noise may be north stand so we could have park lane / Paxton the likes of which I haven’t heard since the early 99s before all seating....

There may still be a small pocket of the shelf side faithful in the south end of the new east stand.

Referring to millions post above in the last few seasons at the lane the shelf side had some great moments like the fiorentina game. Me and my son still talk about that chant, we were applauded by the away support afterwards. One of my proudest moments

The white wall does sound good (when it's rocking it will be the white wall of noise). We'll still chant 'we're the park lane' but just refer to the tier as the white wall or the white wall of park lane. The wall and the shelf go together too. I guess it really depends on how white we make it too. If everyone wore white I'm not sure it would be too much like Real Madrid. I'm not sure jizzing all over the tier would be ideal either.

When talking about it with others, i've noticed a tendency to refer to it as "The old Park Lane end", but how long that'll last I have no idea.

If you don't want the Kop to be mentioned because it sounds like Liverpool then I don't see why you would want South Bank for the same sort of reasons, just sounds like we're ripping off Arsenal. I don't understand how you can be for one but against the other when it's practically the same thing.

Personally I want it to be something unique to us, not just something associated with another club shoehorned in to fit our stadium.
