Christian Eriksen's departure to Inter Milan brings to a close a long chapter at Tottenham Hotspur but it is part of a bigger, quiet overhaul at the club.

Too true, the quiet revolution is under way, maybe only 2/3 players left to buy and it’s full speed to European domination once more.

We jest, because the transfer forum has been awash with posts - and anything but quiet.
But where this has worked is how 'quiet' the media have been kept.
And the speed at which transfers have been done - almost meant they've had no time to react (...or make up shit!)
Could this be Jose's influence on DL?
Is Jose just more efficient at earmarking players he's interested in - along with possible back-ups?
Eriksen gone - GLC perm deal sorted straight away - Gedson already in and playing - Bergwjin prob already training - and Piatek or Giroud still to come......wouldn't be surprised if Aarons signs a pre-agreement too.
No deadline day scrambles! No 100 pages on useless Damiao analysis! - What in the blue hell is going on here!??? :O

So the people whinging about Levy and forgetting the perpetual mess we were in before can go back into the woodwork for now?

I think some of the change is due to the influence of the new stadium. The reflexive whinge of blaming Levy for being tight has been in place for years and continues unaltered, despite our financial circumstances having changed. With the increased turnover, there is far more flexibility to negotiate over wages.

There has never been a major restriction on individual transfer fees, but now that the capital cost of the stadium is no longer a giant question mark, there's also no reason to restrict net capital spending - they know how much they have available and it's enough. These factors mean that deals can be done more smoothly and with less cheese-paring.

Circumstances change and agile business-people change their practices accordingly.

Circumstances change and football fans just keep griping about the same old shit ;) .

The quiet, unnoticed overhaul includes an enormous new stadium, sacking our most successful manager, hiring one of the highest profile managers in the world, smashing our transfer record in the summer, multiple 25 million plus signings, and Eriksens departure.

It's really snuck up on everyone.

Good article. Sad to see Eriksen & now Rose go, but it was time for them to move on. Fingers crossed Spurs don't end up having to flog off their most valuable asset- Harry Kane- to help balance the books once the 'quiet revolution' is complete.
