Halfway through last season there was talk from the pundits we would be challenging the top 2 for the title and it was unlikely we would get through to the KO stages of the CL. We got 4th place by the skin of our teeth and got to the final of the CL!!. Isn't it a tad early to be making predictions? It turned out to be a load of bollacks.
Rather than predictions, I shall simply give my hopes - we will be top 4 without too many nail biting games, win a cup and get to at least the quarter finals in the CL. I still think all of that is a possibility despite our start giving the doubters ammunition to start having a go so early in the season.

Being a Spurs supporter since 1950, it is now before every match - as someone who was 80 in July, without alcoholic stimulants to calm my nerves, I would be risking a heart attack!!!!!

Looking at the next batch of games up until the next international break, We have to be looking at 4 wins to be honest, the leicester one is probably the one you'd look at and anticipate dropped points especially with a Champions League game before it but I'm hopeful we can get our first away win off the season and I'm also hopeful that because they actually have a bit more quality they'll be a bit more open and in a roundabout way I think we'll benefit from playing better opposition. Palace will be tough at home to break down but I think we'll have an additional layer of intensity because of what happened at Newcastle.

I just watch us and just don’t think we look remotely close to title challengers. It’s just being realistic. Maybe in a year or two we will be again.

We give away far too many chances and are weak at fullback which I think is our biggest problem area.

It would have to be a remarkable turnaround of form and performances for us to threaten the top 2. We should finish 3rd if we get our shit together though.

Anyone who thinks we can give Liverpool or City a run for their money this season, I’ll have what you are drinking.

As Norwich beat City 3-2 we are 2pts off 2nd place. Stones and Otamendi look like a good comedy double act. Absolute rubbish the pair of them. That’s what they’ve got to January.
Liverpool looked clueless today without Firmino. Only started playing when he came on after 37 mins.
So dependent on their front 3 who all played a tournament in the summer. See where we are after Xmas . We might just be up there with them .

Nah Liverpool are on another level mate. Even if City have a slightly dodgy season, Liverpool will be there to take advantage. I honestly don’t see Liverpool losing a single game this season, they are unstoppable at the moment

I think there are a couple of possible question marks over City and Liverpool reaching the heights of last season.
Will Pep focus on the CL as that will be the main target for the owners and the 'legacy' trophy for Pep.

And Liverpool had a long summer, and a few injuries could still see an end of season drop off.

We're not going to win the league but I wouldn't be surprised if the top two didn't quite hit the points totals of last season whilst I believe we will surpass our total from last year. Whether the points differential could be considered a 'title challenge' I don't know but we certainly should be a bit more positive in terms of closing the gap.

At the moment, I have to put Liverpool as heavy favourites, City defence just has lost so much that they're going to drop points. All we can do is win our games and try and be there in-case of any slip ups from either team.

We absolutely were up there with them last season around Christmas/New Year before the malaise kicked in and despite the fact that they both had absolutely ludicrous league seasons. There is not a chance in hell that Liverpool will replicate what they did last year (that's not to say they won't win the league ?) and, having dropped 5 points already, I struggle to imagine City getting near 100 points again (although they did lose at home to Palace last year I suppose). If we are actually "back" now then there's no reason we won't be a whole lot closer than last year.

Well they have won every single game so far mate and don’t look like losing anytime soon, so why won’t they? Sorry, but I know we can’t stand them and they are annoying scousers, but they are an unbelievable team. CL finalists 2 seasons running and CL winners. Lost by a whisker in the league to one of the best teams the Prem has seen. Liverpool will win the league this season. We got no chance of coming close sorry.

That’s literally what everyone said about City until today. Liverpool’s defence is leaking goals and they should of lost to Southampton, didn’t play great against Norwich and went behind today. They def look favourites but we can easily improve and compete.

They may win the league, but they've played, Norwich, Newcastle, Burnley, Southampton and Arsenal. They have nothing in attack outside their starting front 3, whom all played in international tournaments in the summer and they have just lost Origi. An injury to VVD or anyone else in that 3 and they are screwed. I wouldn't be giving them the title yet, let's see how they are getting along come February and March, you don't win the league in September.

also as I've said quite a lot, so far they have played 2 extra games this season, they also have the CWC in December in Qatar where they will have another 2-3 games. they will have to reschedule 2 games because of that, which means playing 2 games a week twice more than most other clubs. if they get past the 3rd round in either of the domestic cups that will mean even more fixtures, and their CL group should see them through to the last 16. last season was a 1st for them not finishing sluggish compared to any other season under Klopp.

they also had players playing in the AFCON and Copa and on top of that they have players playing in the EURO's more than where involved compared to that new tournament they held last season. an injury to Robertson, VdV, or any of their front 3 and they will struggle.

No doubting Liverpool's quality, but id like to see how deal with a few injuries to some more important players than the ox.
They really have been blessed with injuries over the last two seasons.
Too early for talk of titles and other shite. Lets see how they do after Europe.

One win doesn't suddenly make us into title challenger's we are just as likely to lose our next game but the result was certainly most welcome.
