Eddie:

“Wales are a very good team, very well coached. Great credit to them for what they’ve done but they are starting to look a bit tired.

“They’ve made more tackles than anyone else in the tournament and they’re playing an Ireland side that seems to be peaking at the right time.

England tackle count 793
Wales tackle count 660

Reading the posts on here makes me sad as it appears that the Welsh and the Irish fans must be among the biggest hypocrites ever there hate for the English comes across strongly and yet they say they are rugby fans which goes against everything that is good about the game of rugby and its values. How anybody would accept there country losing so long as England don't win is the ultimate give away that they are small people with little or no true values hypocrites one and all not to mention very very small minded.I have a Welsh grandmother and an Irish father who are proud of their country and nationality luckily I was not brought up to have a chip on my shoulder because being English and having one giving welsh values and one giving Irish values I would not know if I was on my arce or my head they just taught me to have the right values thankfully.Thankfully not every Welshman or Irishman has the same morals as these numpties as most of the Irish and Welsh I come across believe in fair play for all even if they have no allegiance to England or the English.

I would be a little more nuanced - that's just me! - but I too am saddened by the vehemence of the anti-England feeling. And it's not because I am (recently) English.

Read some of the threads on SC and not only do lots of people hate the English but people seem to think far more hate Spurs:whistle:

Perhaps if the English coach stopped making derogatory comments about the Welsh and Irish and concentrated on his job as ours do the rugby world would be a happier and friendlier place.

But he's not English is he. Pick on the Aussies (I think that's what he is) and not us English.

I am quarter Welsh for what that's worth:whistle:

The English picked him as their coach and he sets the example to the media and the players.....Ireland and Wales have New Zealanders....and they too have a responsibility for the nations they handle and don't appear to adopt the same tactics....just doesn't help matters that's what I'm saying.

While I think what you are talking about exists, people in this thread aren't part of that. It's just good fun banter. Wales are in the driving seat and ireland are misfiring (I was trying to think why, I reckon murray and sexton both seem to be off their usual performances).

Just put £20 on Italy to beat France at 15/4.

Very decent price I thought

So you're blameing Eddie Jones for the "anyone but the English" mentality? The same mentality that gets trawled out every year? And has been for as long as I can remember? And isn't just confined to rugby? That mentality?

France are so frustrating aren't they. I remember carl fearnes (who plays in france) tweeting last week that a decent coach could make a name for himself turning them around. They have so many good players. Even if you played a really basic game plan just using their massive pack they surely could be on the level of an england type team.

Think I hit a nerve.... I am not 'blaming' anyone but as someone who has to bear the brunt of endless sheep jokes I learn to take it with a pinch of salt and not become paranoid about it...that reaction only fans the flames.

But that attitude has existed especially in Scotland since long before Jones took over as coach. Plus not only is he not even English, he's pretty universally thought of as a bit of a dickhead so I think England fans are equally as put off by those sorts of comments as you are, so it's not really fair to tar English fans with the Eddie Jones brush.

I don't tar English fans with the same brush there are good and bad and fair and friendly in all supporters. Rugby is probably the one sport with the least 'gang' mentality and whoever wins in Cardiff it will be a fantastic event and night out. I can't explain why other people feel like they do but there will always be this affinity between the Celtic nations.

Bierne, Ryan, O’Mahony, SOB and Stander is pretty scary tbh.

Weather is going to play a big part. Getting less confident as kick off nears.

If England win 'fair dues' they came to Dublin and did a job on us,will be a tight affair in Cardiff and not everyone in Ireland is ill disposed to England ,after all they voted for us too host the 2023 World Cup and came to play us at the height of the troubles in 1973,unlike others!!.
