JAN VERTONGHEN has revealed that Tottenham’s title charge was fulled by peanut butter.

Spurs’ were challenging Leicester for the title most of the season before running out of steam and finishing third behind The Foxes and Arsenal.

Defender Vertonghen, 29, said: “At least 10 of my Tottenham club mates are crazy about peanut butter. I used to find it revolting, but now I can’t do without it.

“If it runs out everyone goes mad”

“Previously there just used to be a small jar of it, but now we’ll get a huge tub - and if it runs out everyone goes mad.

“We eat healthy and balanced diets at the club, but peanut butter is our guilty pleasure. Mousa Dembele, Kyle Walker, Harry Kane - they all love the stuff.”

Maybe the peanut butter was what held them back from winning the title.

I expect a full investigation to be carried out before another ball is kicked.
