I've said a few times I'd love to see Kane play a little deeper either behind the single striker in Son in a 4-2-3-1 or behind the pair of Son/Moura who can go at wide out of possession. It's not a popular opinion but I think this is where his skill set lies and also stops the need for him to be the one initiating the press. whilst he won't solve our Eriksen problem I believe the combination of him, Ndombele and Lo Celso would.
It’s a tricky one because although he naturally does it anyway, I think to move him properly to attacking midfield might see him look to move away. He’s obsessed with goals and obviously wants to get in the box as much a possible. As down to earth as he is, he still has an ego and personal ambitions.

The compromise solution is to ape Liverpool’s balance of Firmino as the 9/10 hybrid.

Yeah I wouldn't want him to have the defensive responsibility of an AM, I was thinking more Messi in 2012 where he was in that false 9ish role but he would have either Villa/Pedro either side of him or he would have Sanchez infront of him.

I don’t think so, I think he just sees it as the best way to get Son up front and do some of Kane’s running. The problem with him adopting a more 433 though is his inherent distrust of wingers, although if Kane does drop back slightly you could call them forwards in the way Mane and Salah are.

I think come January if we’re chasing central players such as Dybala and fernandes it’ll be pretty telling as to how Poch wants to set up

You would need a RW the same class as son to be able to play this.

i mentioned him before but calvin stengs is going to be a star, whether we need an attacking player right now is debateable but he's the kind of talent you either try and get now or end up wishing you had. he's just scored this for the dutch u21s:

and here's one from the other day

and another against feyenoord recently

his goals aren't even the most impressive thing about him either, he's a through-ball/assist machine and such an unselfish player. still two months shy of turning 21 so no reason why he shouldn't continue to get better and better.

Could see Atal being a disaster more erratic than Aurier. Yeah he’s do some great things but also make horrendous mistakes. Probably exactly the type of RB we really don’t need.

Yeah, he scares me. So many of his highlights are of him playing winger (sounds like Sessegnon actually).

Also curious to me that his offense is such a huge part of his game but wasn't able to rack up a single assist until the last game of the season.

Bruno Fernandes also scares me.

The game v Columbia? I thought he was alright tbh. Definitely needs a good teacher but he could become one of the best around imo

edit: here’s the video doing the rounds

Spurs have had two summers now in the last 4 where they knew for 4+ months going into the summer they desperately needed a RB and had a war chest to get one with.

Out of all the players in the world, our decisions were to go for Aurier and then nobody.

I want to have faith our club will end up landing a good RB, but this setup has shown absolutely zero ability to properly identify/scout/recruit/land quality fullbacks.

He looks talented. Not sure what position he is mind you.

I also find the dutch for 'what a goal' (i.e. Wat een goal) quite amusing

Anyone seen much of this guy? Looks like a solid physical unit.

Shoot me down but I get the diamond it is a very fluid system once we get it right.

Harry Kane is a striker that has a footballing brain he can switch pivot between dropping off and being up top.

I look forward to seeing Dele Alli getting back to full fitness, now both players are independent of each other tho I believe together they are a good combination. Alli is an intelligent players, people don't give him credit now it up to him to get back.

The problem for us with the diamond at the moment is that we don't have the right player at the top of it, or the bottom, and one of the players in the middle is running on fumes after 35 minutes. Other than that, it's fine.
