personal frustrated opinion here but our owner could stick his hand in his pocket and help our chairman massively and we can really push on but it never bloody happens so its run as business not a plaything like Chelsea City PSG & Liverpool!!

100% agree JJ, and this is what frustrates all of us. Shows that he is more interested in the profit than the glory.

And thanks for all the info over the past couple of days.

Surely have our club function within its means is a better long term thing for the club than an owner throwing £200m-£300m and our finances not being sustainable long term right?

Those owners mentioned won't keep pumpin money into their clubs and eventually when they don't they'll have a wage bill and expectation in the transfer market that their profits and financials won't be able to cover

have i said that we feel that Wanyama wont pass a medical anywhere else yet?

Not good news. If that's the case the club simply needs to act as if he is surplus to requirements and surely can't rely on him for the future. What a shame as he was so important his first season with us

LFC run like a plaything...... since when? Last time I checked they were owned by ‘Fenway Sports Group’ who are operating the club pretty much along the same lines as we are with the difference bring they’re not afraid to gamble a bit on big signings that they feel can make a difference to them. We on the other hand.......

In the cases of Chelsea and Liverpool it's not free money either. CFC owe Abramovich over £1bn! Yes, we're coming out of the stadium build with up to half that owing to banks, but at least we'll have something tangible for around the next century to show for it.

And this is why with the current owner we will be nothing more than a nearly team.

People need to accept that most clubs in the league at present are ran via owner shares, owner loans repayable or for vanity.

Do people genuinely think these owners that do throw money at clubs either:

a. Don't expect their money back eventually like at Chelsea
b. Will continue throwing money at something that isn't making them as much as it's costing them

Also just because a small minority of other football club owners have gone absolutely insane doesn't mean our club has to. We've invested huge amounts into having the 2nd biggest stadium in England, and the 5th in Europe compared against teams richer than us (behind Man U, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich).

Surely people understand that this is a bigger, more important investment than signing a £50m midfielder or a £75m CB

It would be nice to think that, as a Spurs fan (im assuming he is), he would love to see his favourite club lift a title or two before he leaves this world instead of spending it on willy waving paintings and yachts. I mean, it's his money, therefore he can do whatever the hell he likes with it, just find it weird that you wouldnt want to see your team taste some glory by giving them a little push. Even a couple of solid transfer windows would have sufficed.

Agreed. Lewis is 82. Doesn’t he want to see us win something before he shuffles off this mortal coil? I can only guess he’s not a football fan. He’d rather spend his cash on yachts and art. ☹️

Abramovich will command £3bn for the sale of Chelsea and make all his money back.

You don't do one without the other when the austerity for the football team ("the product" itself) is this long-term. You find a way - and I agree with JJ - the owner should be putting his hand in his pocket.

Otherwise we're just here to clap a spreadsheet.

Ol’ Joe is perfectly happy on his £100m+ yacht and buying up properties for tavistock or art for himself. I dont think ive seen him at a game once in the last 2 years and the cameras always show the owners boxes at least twice every game.

Sorry mate don't agree. Anyone living beyond their means will eventually have their bubble burst. Football shouldn't just be a sport, it should be an example of how to live. These ridiculous owners that are jumping on the band wagon are ruining the game from the grassroots up. If the company you were working for spent more than it made and eventually folded would you still feel the same about its frugal spending on an amazing office, perks of the job etc?

I like the fact that we are growing within our means. Similar to Arsenal I admire it, not because of the owners but because the club is learning how to survive and flourish from head to toe. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat every day for the rest of his life etc.

Take Fulham for example, they come up, spunk silly money but it wasn't done with guile or quality, it was done with a complete disregard for money. Football has well and truly got sucked into the glamour of a signing and the myth of how spending money = ambition.

A choice of £500m more worth of players over the last 10 years or a stadium that allows another 26,000 fans to see their club, more people able to go and see their team for the first time and I'd take a stadium like we are about to receive any day of the week. Football should be all about that experience, that moment that makes football worth it whilst we organically make money from natural growth streams it secures our future not because of who the owner is but because of who the club are.

Personally I'm sickened by the game and how disgustingly bloated with money it's become, it eptimoses the worst of the world which is someone wants success and they want it now, like a spoilt child that's completely forgotten all they were raised to know, the value of money, planning etc. I'd rather see the club continue to live within its means than be in debt to an Abramovic when at any given moment he can pull the plug on his little toy because he's the one that calls the shots.

As Levy said before he's a custodian of the club for future owners, the future generations of supporters, why should he and Lewis spend more money on it than they earn? People act like £200m is nothing, just because they have a lot of it, it still has its same value. Do people walk down the street and give homeless people £20 because it's just £20??? They don't so why these people expect our owners to just spend a little money it's ridiculous and hypocritical. It wouldn't be accepted in any other field so why is it demanded in football? Everyone's got it back to front, just because a few silly, rich men with more money than sense once upon a time got a little bit bored and decided to turn their games of football manager into real life.

We function how we should yet get hammered for it. Absolute insanity. When our owners get board we are still in the black, when Roman decides he likes golf better than his beloved Chelsea they'll be lumbered with wages and costs that surpass their profits. Practical may be boring, but it's something hugely overlooked and underestimated by everyday supporters. Our club is safe, is growing into a mega stadium, near enough the same size as one hosting a Champions League final, that's the level we are going to and it's about to reach a new level of stature yet some get the jump because we didn't pull our pants down and sign Malcom for £50m when 6 months later he signed for Barcelona for £13.5m less than we were touted/ tried to get taken for a ride on.

It's a shame people don't support the cockerel more than the glamour of trophies. Very few teams in football get to the levels we are at present, we really should enjoy it more and see what happens in the future.

I’ve not been that impressed with Kovacic at Chelsea. He’s been tidy, nothing more. Maybe it’s Sarri’s system, but expected more from him. He’s made noises about staying there too.
It doesnt help that Sarri flip flops Barkley/Kovacic nearly every game and when one starts, he’s subbed off for the other at 60’.

Also, the impending transfer ban is probably why he’s started to insert RLC into the rotation. Kovacic could be a nice opportunity for us if both sides want it.
