Either JJ or that Journo from Belgium that's always bang on (I forget his name) said we turned it down as Monaco wouldn't consider an option to buy.

Same journo as above also said we wanted him before he signed for Monaco but Tielemans felt we were too strong in CM and it would be better for his development to go elsewhere, so I think Poch likes him.

So, we thinking Gomes and Tielemens solve our midfield issues?

Would Tielemens, Gomes and Winks work?

There is no way that Winks is not a first choice midfielder for us (and England) next season, imo.
Considering that I believe that we could well and truly buy two better players than him at CM, I can see that happening. There are young midfielders like Ndombele (amongst others) who have a better passing range and look more comfortable on the ball who would play at the traditional no. 8, whilst someone like Diawara who is better defensively would fill the no. 6 spot. If we went to a 3 man midfield then I could see it happening (but then what about dele?), but if we actually buy quality players then he's no certainty to start for us at all.

I think Winks is awesome - not quite spreading the play to the wings and the channels how I would like, but as a player he's incredible.

As for signing Ndombele, Tottenham are in desperate need of a midfield star. Modern-day Gazza-esque quality - someone who gets the fans off their seats, or gives you 'that feeling,' at times throughout a match.

Isn’t that guy Dele Alli?

Or Eriksen... the discussion around our midfield from most fans is so bizarre. They create their perfect midfield combo that never include a player like Winks or Sissoko but when it gets brought up they're undroppable and no doubt starters moving forward.

Ndombele is probably better than Winks but being 'comfortable on the ball' is hardly an issue where Winks is concerned.

We could literally sign anyone and there would still be someone saying we need another 'bums off seats' player. It is the most meaningless and overused player description of all time.

Also, one can infer that anyone who needs a special player to get off their seat is someone who sits down during football matches, which increases the possibility that they tell people they should sit down in the South Stand, and therefore I hate them.

Need someone to shield the defense.

Exactly! have seen a number of posts from people hoping we can pinch Gomes from Everton. But for me if there is one Everton midfielder we should be looking at, it is Idrissa Gueye. The bloke has a lot more of the attributes our current set of midfielders lack than Gomes.

Dele is quality but to compare him to Gascoigne is absurd. That fella was a total one off of a player - a football genius who could (and often did) win games for us on his own. I credit the 91 FA Cup win to him (batting the catastrophic final!)

don't think JJ said anything of the sort, just said he straight turned him down.

Doucoure and Tielemans are certainly realistic yet would improve us

Tielemans Winks Doucoure in a 4-3-3 would work with Dier and Sissoko providing rotation

Doucore was heavily linked with PSG in the last window, If they are indeed in for N'dombele I highly doubt they would be looking at Doucore too.

Hopefully it's one or the other and we hold interest in both players as I can see both players improving our midfield significantly.

However I don't think either will come cheap, N'dombele would command a higher fee though. I reckon Doucore would be attainable for between £25-40 Million. That was the rumored price range when PSG were linked.

He’s a good player. Was awful to begin with today but he took advantage of Neves and Moutinho going off.

He ticks a lot of Poch’s boxes when it comes to attributes in a player. I worry a bit about his technical side though.

Have to admit I've not seen alot of Doucoure lately. That said, when I did watch him a few times earlier in the season, he reminds me of Sissoko but with more end product and touch more finesse.

5 goals and 6 assists in 29 prem appearances isn't too shabby for a CM.
