Re: Leon bailey. If he hasn’t played as well this season, what makes you think he can handle it at the top of the league ?

Perhaps opposing teams are now wise to him and he has reached his level ? Perhaps not but it’s a tough judgement to make without the benefit of hindsight

Exactly. This is a hard one. And those are the factors scouts and managers/head-coaches have to consider and figure out when they buy a player - factors that may be off-field rather than on-field. The guy's certainly got talent and he could (key word: could) shine if he came to Spurs. But there's a costly risk, of course. But that goes with most of the costly players anyway.
F.ex. Mahrez was excellent in his 1st season at Leicester but then faded, particularly when he came to ManC....while Kante continued to excel and improve at Chelski. While Salah flopped at Chelski but turned into a world class player at Liverpool.

If it takes 1-2 years for a player to settle into the Poch approach, then my wishlist is to keep one Toby or Eriksen and better yet both. For that reason, if we bring in players, we either bring in "no brainer" starters or younger, high potential talent (sessegnon) to improve the bench depth so they have the time to learn the system. Given our current squad, a high football IQ, fast RB should be one of our highest priorities. KWP may be the real deal in time, but he hasn't proven that he can play with the big boys day in day out (yet but he needs more opportunities). Defensive midfielder would also be a priority as i don't think VW's health will fully return. And a replacement for Eriksen or Toby if either leave. It may be helpful to have a field player captain and while i love Harry, i'm not sure he has the right type of fire to lead under all circumstances

Even if Eriksen and Toby stay the need for HG won't be quite so severe once Llorente and Vorm's contracts are up, and if we can move on Janssen, GKN, Aurier and perhaps a couple of other crocks like Big Vic and Lamela.

we will still need HG players to make up enough numbers to not be punished in the PL or CL. just because you have less HG it doesn't bring the numbers down

Just for those judging Zaha purely by goals/assists, Benteke has scored his first goal for Palace the entire season today, Sorloth scored once this season before being loaned out in January and Milivojević is their top scorer who has scored 12 goals, mostly from penalties. Last season the entire Palace squad scored 50 goals in total in all competitions, compare that to Kane who scored 41 goals. Now add in Son, Dele, Lucas, Eriksen etc and with the extra space he'd be provided since he won't have 2 or 3 marking him every game, being alongside attacking players who are allowed to convert chances more than once a year and maybe just maybe he'd improve those numbers significantly. It's also disregarding the possibility of him improving at the club when we all know Poch can take players up a level so it is a real possibility he would push on if he joined.

The actual question is whether or not spending the money Palace would want (£70m+) is worth it given what's needed elsewhere, especially if Eriksen and Toby leave. I don't think so, however Zaha is a very talented player and I would like him here given a significantly lower price tag

Lallana hasn't played too much this season, but that hasn't actually been down to injuries too much. He just hasn't been getting into the squad.

Assuming Lallana would be a free transfer, I’d give him a shot pay as you play.
He's got a year left on his current deal, with the option of another year, can't see it being a free transfer.

We're unlikely to shop at Everton, there will be at least a £20m extra on top of players value for us to sign from them at the moment. Only if it's an expiring contract imo.

AWB is going to be a world class rb, he's absolute mustard.

We have to go all out for him this summer.
Unfortunately United will want him too, and even if we have CL and they don't, I can't see us beating them to a transfer.
