seems to be gathering pace though, the tweets from Portugal are more exciting....ffs, I have to get up in 6 hours lol

I'm not looking forward to Saturday morning when I have to get up early to travel from Bristol to the Lane after probably staying up until 4 AM hoping for some undetected transfer (or celebrating the signing of Moutinho).

yup, me to....its gathering. I know JJ poured a little cold water on it tonight, but lets remember JJ was saying Dembele wasn't a target for us for weeks...things can change quickly.

Weeks? JJ told me Dembele was not on personally earlier this week (Monday). Things are moving very quickly, even DL could get things wronf

If we get Moutinho... I'll just say I would not be envious of the decision AVB has to make weekly on who to start. That's a lot of options to choose from. It's a great problem to have, though.

VDV is no right forward/right winger though.

In that formation he'd be obliged to track the left back when the oppo attack. Unfortunately, that's a task that is beyond him.

I did consider that, I know he isn't exactly the type to do the defensive duties required but, when he played the free role he was doing none of that either but he outwieghed that negative with his positive contribution to the team as regards attacking.

With three up top, maybe Bale could track back to help mid-field and Moutinho or whoever could shift across to cover that opening that Rafa would leave. I'm sure that it could be made to work. Or whoever is playing the right of the middle three could help him out with his defensive duties , I'm not saying do them for him, just cover till he can catch up with play. All hypothetical of course but I don't think it would be beyond him and the rest of the team would just have to work that bit harder to compensate.

The reason I suggest this formation and line up is I don't really see goals coming from the right forward position otherwise. Lennon, is good on his day and does pop up with the odd goal but not enough IMHO. If we signed Willian, will he provide those goals? Not sure. We can't leave the scoring burden on Ade and Bale alone. And I don't see where many more goals will come from in the side we are putting together at the moment. Rafa is one of those players that are hard to give a position to, but he is too good to leave out. He has unbalanced us at times but we suffered that because of what he brings to the team.

My argument is not fullproof I know but I'm sure there are enough permeations of line up and tactics that I am sure we could go down this route at least with some matches.

I think he prefers to have a larger number of equal players than a squad centred around a star-studded first XI.

Yea should have picked one Moutinho or Dembele. Unless Porto saw us buying Dembele as a weakening of their position, I don't understand why we're going back in for Mourts.
