Not sure I can ever trust a fullback from the french league again.

Simplistic view, Munier and Kurzawa are completely different players to Aurier.

I would prefer English fullbacks because we seem to churn out the best fullbacks on average at the moment, but if we can’t afford it then these two will suffice on free transfers.

If there is only just one player we can get...it has to be Haaland. This young striker is amazing. Would share the goal scoring responsibilties with Kane perfectly.

Well only in my dreams.

I see the press are now linking us to both Pope and Henderson. Yet the same paper is also linking Ramsdale to Leeds, a player who was previously linked to both Chelsea and us a few weeks ago.

I know one thing. There won't be loads of massive fees and some clubs will be desperate to sell if they need the money. I'm looking at clubs with high wages to turnover ratios that will need to shed players. Everton, Bournemouth, Palace and even Leicester (unless their new accounts vary massively from this). Most prudent chairmen will be sounding out agents of these clubs for their players now. I'd hope we are that proactive but lost faith in recent yeas that we are. But if there are deals to be done then the Levy of old would be in the mix.

I have a feeling that we wont be buying players like Osimhen now. Giroud and Willian on free transfers seem more logical once things get up and running again

Odd.

On the face of it (his stats) he has done alright at Bordeaux (apps and goals)

The price they bought him at, even if he hadn't turned out, we'd have made our money back and then some (opinion)

Didn't he move there because he thought he'd play more or something?

Watching the next few episodes it seems he was only going to go where the agent gets the most money

To be fair, whilst i don't think it's the right priority, it's relatively low risk for Maja at this stage - he can always move again in a couple of years and likely (given Sunderland's situation) make a forward step in terms of the club and his career. So choosing money for a couple of years of development isn't a massive problem for the player.

The fallout from COVID19 will have considerable impact on our transfer targets and expenditure. As stated above there will be clubs needing to sell creating opportunity and economic uncertainty will reduce the likelihood of bigger money offers for star players (i.e. Kane) - Levy has no need to sell now, with his value only likely to increase next summer assuming normality has started to resume. Good news!

Whilst Spurs financially appear stable the latest accounts exclude last summers net transfer spend, cost of managerial changes and significant lost revenue of COVID19. All this makes it unlikely that Levy will be willing/even able (when you consider the financial engineering we had to do for Bergwin in January) to sanction significant expediture, especially if we miss out on Champions League qualification. The likely shortened transfer window, uncertainty around planning, scouting etc. (just look at the challenges facing the NFL draft) mean we will have to act quickly and decisively, which given our track record and the amount of business we may wish to do doesn't bode well. Bad news!

With this in mind, I expect us to push through any largely agreed deals for younger players ie. Eze (known quantities reduce risk, hold value etc.). Actively explore loans particularly using the Mendes/Mourinho connection (ie. another Fernandes). Focus on budget options (or ones where we can spread expenditure - ie. Arsenal and Pepe) to balance squad and add future cover, ie. Giroud, Willian, PSG full backs etc. or going for the likes of Ferguson/Bogle rather than a bidding war for Max Arrons - again reducing FY20 upfront expenditure and investment risk.

I'd be very surprised if we made more than 1 or 2 signings over £20m+, with Jose having to prioritise a few key positions and compromise in other areas.

Yes he done an Eriksen to them. I also feel the agents greed stopped Sunderland coming up. Apparently he earnt a million for doing it. The industry is so wrong

I’m not sure just how good he is but the documentary made him look like prime Ronaldo, so yeah you could argue that they would’ve come up with him

Because he moved for a salary of £56k a week!

Not exactly done anything at Bordeaux to justify that wage. Looks a bullet dodged. Another young player more interested in making a quick buck than improving as a footballer.

In the Ally Gold hypotheticals of the week he has a "what could Spurs defense look like next season" where he brought up Ruben Dias and Max Aarons as possible additions. Don't think those would come as a surprise to anyone.
