Jose needs to get this lad integrated as soon as the disciplinary period is ended. Look at Greenwood - 18 years old and delivering.
Let's get Troy into the mix.

I'm all for giving youngsters their opportunity, but players mature differently.

Yes, I agree with you, Greenwood looks a good young player - but compare and contrast him with HK:

Harry Kane played 1 Premier League game before turning 20.

He scored the sum total of 1 goal for Spurs before turning 20.

He scored a total of 3 Premier League goals before turning 21.

If he knuckles down, works hard and acts professionally - then Troy will get his chance.

I tried to learn my lesson with jumping on the Marcus Edwards bandwagon but once again I need to remind myself that until they're in the first team doing the job, the potential means absolutely fuck all.

You can say “be professional, yadda, yadda, yadda,” but the truth is unless he sees a pathway then it’s human nature to get disenchanted. The lad wants to be scoring goals but he doesn’t seem to be allowed to play any matches. I don’t understand it. If he’s not ready, get him playing U23s every week and then out on loan next season.
The pathway is signing a professional contract with the club. The rest is up to him to prove he's good enough.

Sources have told The Athletic that there have been questions over Parrott’s mentality and application of late. Others have registered surprise at the striker’s apparent immaturity, especially when surrounded by his mates. Mourinho meanwhile appeared to suggest the player lacks “emotional control” last week. Though again it’s worth remembering Parrott has only just turned 18.

And there are other elements to this story.

It has been suggested to The Athletic that a deal was close to being agreed with Charlton Athletic in January for Parrott to join the Championship club on loan until the end of the season. In any event, the switch was scuppered by an obscure UEFA rule that meant Parrott would not have been eligible as a homegrown player in European competition if he had completed the move. Players are required to complete two consecutive years at a club to be counted as homegrown, and since Parrott joined Tottenham on his 16th birthday — February 4, 2018 — he needed to stay until after the transfer window closed to qualify. Otherwise he would have been classed as a foreign player.

Parrott has naturally been left frustrated at the situation — his anger directed at UEFA’s rule not Spurs — especially as not playing will likely prevent him from being picked for Ireland’s Euro 2020 squad. Shortly after the transfer window closed, Ireland’s manager Mick McCarthy said: “I wish he’d gone to Charlton and played games on loan. He couldn’t go out before because of his age and I understand that, but if he’s not playing competitive football he has very little chance of being in the squad.”

The whole Charlton stuff totally discredits that story tbh. Charlton May have had interest but no way was a deal close to being done. The club new about the UEFA rule they didn’t just realise it was there. Why would they enter into negotiations if they new that rule was in place. I doubt there’s ever been more myth or hype around a player that’s played 5 minutes in the PL. 20 years ago we’d barely know of his existence, social media has changed all that.

There would not be so much attention to what's going on with Parrott if Kane and Son were fit and playing. But now this question is on everybody's lips.

Not like we got caught out with having 3 non home grown keepers, due to Dier and Davies both not counting as hg.

Exactly.
Pick him
and let's get some.

Good enough for Republic.Ireland
at all levels
19 appearances
12 goals
not good enough
for Spurs.obviously.

Dubliners eh!

I'm not sure there's zero evidence. He played in pre-season against teams like Juve, Man Utd and Real Madrid and didn't look out of place by any stretch. I know it's pre-season but still, it would've been clear if he couldn't cut it at that level.

He's also played for the Ireland national team and by all accounts coped well.

I don't think he's not being picked because he's not considered to be ready from a footballing perspective and rather it's purely the maturity side of things that JM is referring to when he's says he's not ready. The info from this Athletic article and @nicdic would seem to back that up.

Hopefully the JM has sat him down this week and had a good conversation with him and we'll at least see him on the bench in the coming games.

Tanganga was the standout pre season young player and he has gone on to prove the faith shown in him to be correct .
I am not saying Parrot should start but minutes played in games where victory looks a done deal or indeed losing looks a done deal then giving him minutes is the only way to find out he he has the ability at this level you never know he might show something in a game we look like losing and his efforts turn the game . Like I say you are never going to know unless he is given a chance albeit 10 minutes here 15 minutes there .Football history is littered with players discarded by one club only to go to another club to ignite their career because when they moved they were given the chance when their parent club would not or did not give them a chance .

Our lack of options is evidence enough for me and the way we've played in the last couple of games. In my opinion, he can't do any worse than what we've tried and will give us a much better shape, letting other players play in their natural positions. Square pegs, in square holes.

I would love to see a bit of him but we shouldn't award him with Premier League games at this stage when he is not showing enough effort in the training and behaves not mature enough like suggested.

Norwich is the ideal chance in my opinion.
