I would love it IF Baldini is already outs and he is going to the Confed cup to watch Bernard. Then IF he can bring Bernard back with him then that would be sweeeeeet! Especially if he brings back Paulinho and LD 2!!! *just wakes up drooling after great dream*

I've been thinking about Baldini (wife wasn't happy when she found out but that's a different story  ).. Anyway, we've heard it from ITK's, we read it in the press when he was just about to quit his post at Roma, the guy wanted a holiday. By all accounts, he's now on that holiday, which has left us all feeling a bit 'Meh', because we are of the opinion that we'll do no business until he's officially settled into his role at the club. Well, he quit Roma on June 5th (as far as I'm aware), so maybe he's actually been on holiday for close to a week already & we won't have to wait as long as we are thinking, for him to be officially confirmed as a club employee?

I'm not gonna bother watching it ( confederation cup) because it'll only make me even more gutted when we get pipped to the signings by psg/Chelsea, Dortmund etc, hope I'm wrong but 23 years of supportin spurs will do that to you lol

Smudger, how can you disagree with this? For one thing o think your lying or crazy if u didn't want this to happen and secondly how can u disagree? Are you saying I wouldn't like this to happen? I don't mind neg rep if it's justified but WTF!?

I'm just worried that we've been fucking idiots and waiting for the Confederations Cup to finish will see us lose Paulinho and Bernard. Additionally I'd love to be able the watch the games and concentrate on their performances, knowing that we had them. Doing this with Modric in 2008 gave the tournament a whole new interest seeing as England weren't in it.

Well, what reason would Bernie and Paulie have to actually sign before the Confed Cup? They know they are on display, which means bigger clubs could come in and bid for them after the Confed Cup. I dont think is is possible for us to sign any Confed Cup participants until after the tourney. We are simply not big enough.

Who said we are the ones waiting? Agents, clubs, players themselves can want to wait before deciding their futures. Perhaps they shine at the tournament and can get better deals. Spurs might have been willing to have it all wrapped up before hand, but it isnt just up to us you know.

Well, I guess someone can disagree that the players you mention are not in their opinion any good or good enough. That said, 'disagreeing' with someone's excitement is kind of an odd concept - like walking up to someone who's laughing their head off and saying you diasgree, as if there was something entirely rational going on. Ah well. This is the wonder of these emoticon thingies. The spam you got went over my head, but that's probably the best place for it, especially the stuff you eat. What does it mean?! I had a disagree from someone earlier on another thread when I said that if Monaco were sucking up 'expensive' players they might get a sponsorship deal from Dyson. Disagree? Did the poor sod think I was serious?!! Hah!:)

Heard Phil Brown on the radio day before yesterday suggesting things don't start getting interesting until the players/managers etc get back from their hols. I think that's probably true to a certain extent at Spurs. Championship and lower leagues start again in 7 weeks time so they're back on the 24th this month!

Although undoubtably agents, club officials and all are touting, arranging and negotiating, it's probably not until meetings and offers are studied and talked about that things genuinely start moving*. I reckon we need to give this til the end of the month and then we'll be cooking on gas. It's then that the medicals and all that stuff will start to happen. I bet most of our lot are like GB, still away on the kiddy rides at Disney.

Edit - *Confed Cup allowing - I mean mainly outgoing

You just know Abramovich and Mourinho will be having a poolside party tonight with bbc3. Tomorrow they'll announce signing of 2 Brazilians!

The idea that the Confed. Cup will make a big of difference is a bit overblown imo.
Bernard won some best young player in Brazil award last season and Paulinho has been in their team of the year for 2 years.
Plus they are both in the Brazil squad, I mean they're hardly unknown are they? I'd be surprised if any big European team hasn't already run the rule over them; there's only so many transfers that can be done. I mean we've known Neymar would come to Europe eventually but it took a couple of years, I just think Paulinho and Bernard are on that end of the cycle; they'll move soon, hopefully to us.

Well there are a fair few clubs in England, so errr... Nothing definite to this at all, but its a start for sure!
And nice to see the agent having the sheer good manners to keep him in the picture (translate: 'tell him what he must do'). I do wonder if Spurs shouldn't buy every single agent in the world, like a massive football team of representatives, and then any player looking for a move will have no option but to speak to us first. If we paid the agents enough, and gave them cuts and image rights and performance related pay, we'd be made. We'd give trghemm our sponsored kits to wear. Some of them would of course be 'squad' agents until they proved their worth. It would be a way of out-Dysoning Chelsea and Monaco. It would be like monopoly when we own all the spaces and hotels and our competitors are hanging on in quiet desperation just to see if they can pick up £200 for passing Go. The xcitement would pall somewhat as we fucked over someone's iron or dog or poxy shoe on Park Lane and Mayfair and we finished them off on Old Kent Road, but this is how to show the mighty Spurs can take over everything that ever was and might still become! Onwards! Turn left after Poland! Letf I said! Left!

What I can't understand is that if Jason Burt is such good buddies with AVB then why would he report that we are in for Paulinho? Surely AVB would have told him to keep his mouth shut, Burt even said we were afraid of teams gazumping us in his article. I think it's either:

1. We are trying to deflect attention from other targets by saying we're in for Paulinho. Burt may have helped with this.
2. The Paulinho deal is more or less done, it's too late for other teams to come in and therefore OK to report it.
3. Burt is just telling it how it is AVB has been shafted by his 'mate'.

Personally I think it's 1. I think Paulinho is on our list but Bernard is the priority. Burt gave a hint that we may not fully commit to a deal for Bernard because of worries of whether he would be able to adapt to England, I just wonder whether this is to potentially delay other teams coming in for him too. If it was reported that we were seriously interested and close, then other teams have no time to piss about and could decide to make their move. Burt may be telling the truth, we don't know. But i'd find it puzzling considering it could affect any potential deal by giving it exposure in a national newspaper.
