He bullied defenders for fun mate. His physical prowess is really impressive and he uses it - something Adebayor does nowhere near enough IMO, and he brings others into the game very well. Adebayor has more finesse though, I wouldn't dispute that and on a really good day would be ahead of Benteke at the moment. But those days are nowhere near consistent enough at the moment. Don't forget Ade has a lot more experience than Benteke as well....he's a good 6 years older than him.

Ultimately though I think Benteke will be ever better and I think he'll be a hell of a lot more consistent as well.

Fair enough, he did seem more consistent last season but that was 1 season!

All I know is whether it's Solado, Negredo or Benteke if their clubs won't accept 20 million, then they aren't coming to us. It looks the decks are being cleared when we haven't bought a striker yet.... deja-vu city.

Yes, and unfortunately at that age should be pushing for the first team squad at least... And isn't

He's too selfish, makes poor decisions on the ball and general play is too naive, and probably needs to be playing more centrally - which creates even more competition for him.

Put simply he's not ready / probably not good enough. Don't be fooled by a few YouTube clips, he's probably not the saviour you think he is.

Truly do you believe for one second AVB would have turned down PSG if he was being overruled by Sherwood ? He would have been off like a shot if that was the case.

That's very logical and sensible but you have to factor where the ITK is coming from and it is pretty obvious at this point that with last seasons "AVB is a fraud" and this season's "Baldini hasn't got a clue" that the source of certain respected ITK is Sherwood, hence the ridiculous perspective on his power at the club because its his grandiose perspective of his own role.

I don't think League 1 is the place for him to develop. I don't know exactly what he means by not as developed, but he's a completely different player to Kane and has more about him already. He also plays in the position we desperately need to improve (attacking left midfield or outside left/wide).

He's 20, not 15.

BC from the games I've been able to see him in I don't think it's a skills thing but a mental maturity thing? In the U20s he looked lost and was flustered very easily. He looks exciting and is obviously creative but if he was ready for another league don't you think he'd be there? Anyhoo my onions!

Just to note none of my stuff comes through sherwood.

on a personal level I do not like him that much. Jekyl and hyde character one minute he is nice the next he will treat you like an idiot. That being said there is absolute no denying his power at the club and the good standing in the game.

listen to people like iain dowie,curbishly out of the game for a long long time but they always mention sherwood in the same breath as spurs/transfers because they know his standing at the club.

Heard an interview with BAE on BBC World radio yesterday. He is doing charity work for river blindness disease in Africa. He was asked 'will you still be at Spurs?'. His answer 'I've been linked with a lot of the press about transfers. As far as I know I am part of the club and will be staying'. So until Uncle Frank delivers the message 'your off' he'll be staying and I prefer him frankly. If he is injury free, he is a top LB. He also said he sees himself playing for a long time and quoted Roger Milla playing till he was 42!

Benny has actualky been given extra time away from the club to finish the charity work.

Both the club and benny should be commended on this in my opinion.
