Tottenham and their top-flight peers “are on the cusp of a sponsorship revolution” as the Premier League’s global popularity continues to boom. Spurs recently agreed a £42.5million deal in principle for the South Africa tourist board to become their sleeve sponsor for the next three years.

But while Tottenham were delighted with an arrangement which would have been the most lucrative sleeve deal in the Premier League, the partnership was aborted last week in the face of intense public resistance.

Exciting times, agreeing a deal in principle that… (checks rest of article) we didn’t agree.

We can put this alongside the 4yrs… yes… FOUR YEARS of no stadium naming rights. Feels like we’re right on the cusp :banghead:

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I imagine that we must be due an 'about to sign a major stadium deal ' story again soon, surely?

It's going to have to be a pretty good deal
to compensate for 4years of Stadium sponsorship zilch.
I expect it will all be factored in.

What a confusing and contradictory article. But there are some nuggets too.

I read it as there is loads more money still to be made from shirt sponsorship particularly as the fan base are compliant, wilfully complicit, or just uninterested of which murderous regimes/corporate monsters they are personally prepared to promote and/or have on their teams' shirts.

A football shirt has become the modern day hair shirt, a cilice (isn't that our current sleeve sponsor? How life mocks us! ) - an uncomfortable sack cloth as worn by penitent christians - to show the world how much we are prepared to morally suffer for our side to be able to afford to win something.

Winning is every thing. We must all suffer. Suffer! Conte has told us the price to be a winner many times. It doesn't come cheap.

Well that's what I got out of it anyway.

Levy holding out for a record deal, when he could have had 4 years of lesser multi million pound deals. Now he has to wait for an even bigger deal to make up for all the money he’s lost.

Sunk cost fallacy.
