Tottenham striker Richarlison has hit out at manager Antonio Conte following the defeat. The Brazilian was on the bench for the game and came on in the final 20 minutes but he failed to make his mark and influence the game in the final third.

“That’s what I didn’t understand, too (being a substitute). It was going well, in a good sequence, two wins against West Ham and Chelsea.

“Suddenly, he (Cristian Stellini) put me on the bench, against Wolverhampton he put me on for five minutes. I asked why? They didn’t tell me anything.

“And, yesterday, they asked me to take a test at the gym, that if I was good I would go to the game and, at the time of the game, they left me on the bench. These are things that it is not possible to understand.

“Let’s see what he (Conte) will say tomorrow, but there are no fools here either, I’m a professional, I work every day and I want to play. There are minutes left, time left.

“This season, excuse the word, it’s been s***, because I don’t have minutes, I suffered a little with the injury. But, when I enter the field, I give my life. I came from two games well, I think that’s it, I think I should have played and I don’t have to cry about it.”

From the title I guessed who it was.

Although it doesn't matter who it is, the signs of a lost dressing room are starting.

When at the stadium yesterday a ST holder made a comment about there being rumours of some players starting to voice their opinion about both game time and tactics but wasn't sure who.

Things aren't looking good again with Conte's attitude and comments post match (Which is typical Conte after a crap performance) and now these comments are becoming public, we're now very much in the "Here we go again" situation.

With the article in mind though, you do have to feel for Richarlison but his main issue is position. We all know he needs to be the front man and not out wide but nothing is done to cater for that with Kane up top. With Son's performances still poor, he needs to be benched, and things mixed up a bit with Richarlison starting up top with Kane behind but that's easier said than done as general formation, who fits the other gaps, etc would need to be changed, mainly that of Kane and how he'd suit that no. 10 position

I really feel that he should be playing as a 9 with Kane perhaps dropping back into what used to be called attacking midfield role, after all he is the only truly creative midfielder we have. Get rid of Perisic and then allow Son to drift wider and Kulu the chance to cut in from the right.

You mean......change..... formation.....!!?!?

I jest, you're not wrong, but I don't see that happening under this regime.

I'm not one for players speaking out and moaning to the press but you've got to feel for Richarlison, watching Son (one of my favourite players) putting in pretty woeful performances on a continuing basis. Even if Richarlison plays badly, like Son is doing, he'll harass and harangue the opposition, which we're desperate for.

I think in any work environment you'd get thoroughly pissed off watching a colleague continually underperform and yet get the boss's accolades and ongoing support whilst you're left to rot in the corner, no matter how hard you try.

Now, there's the counter argument that I, or most others, don't know what is happening in training, or behind the scenes, but something isn't right.

He’s hardly done much when he has started, but hasn’t really played in his preferred role.

He should however be more professional and not spout his mouth off so freely.

It’s hard to fit him in the team when you have to play five defenders in every game, unless of course we use a different formation, but that doesn’t seem possible at the moment.

Doesn't he remember how bad he was against sheff utd, with his best effort hitting the corner flag?
He worked hard against chelsea and fans appreciated it, but he was hardly a goal threat. We needed 2 goals last night and even this season, son has more end product.

I welcome anyone coming to put the boot into conte at the moment, but richarlison has been a big disappointment this season.

I think Richarlison is 100% right to be annoyed

We've been poor all season with Son starting for whatever reason (not for this thread) Richarlison starts in 2 games (which we win both) and performs better statistically than Son. We have a must win games in a knockout round of UCL and Richarlison is back on the bench. He has every right to feel agrieved

That might have something to do with England's main striker / captain / all-time top-scorer / World Cup 'Golden Boot' winner, who has comfortably outscored Richarlison in each the five full seasons since Richarlison moved to the PL.

Son has also massively outscored Richarlison in that time.

When Richarlison struggles to make a greater impact than Son from LW, it's supposedly because he isn't playing in his best position. No manager in their right mind would be picking Richarlison at CF over Kane though. On the rare occasion that he did get a start at CF - for the loss against Sheffield Utd - most fans were critical that Kane should have started instead.

i agree and I think it would benefit Kane having someone in front of him doing his running and pressing. Kane is a very smart presser and knows which second man to close down.

Im starting to come around to the idea of a Poch style 4231 with Richarlison up top and Kane as the 10 (Son and Deki as WFs)

Has Richarlison had any time/opportunity to put together a run of a few games to find some form?

No.

So I don't really know how he can be criticised at this point. He's been no worse than Son, yet Son has been allowed that time and show of faith from the manager regardless of playing utterly fuckingly rubbishly.

A new manager comes in, gives him a chance, and he'll be scoring goals. He needs a bit of a run. Son is literally just pissing me off at this point.

so England is a greater team than Brazil ?
So Kane manages to score more goals while playing in a worse team. This supports the fact that he's the better player.

did you see his goal in the WC ?
One spectacular goal =/= spectacular player

Did you see Richarlison's PL goals this season? Didn't think so....

How many times England won the world cup again ?
It's pretty naïve to base an individual player's ability on achievements of their team. To fall back on historic achievements of that team from before the player even started their playing career is simply nonsensical though (perhaps something that a "first class clown" would do?).

Portugal has never won the World Cup. Does this mean every player to ever represent a nation that has at some point won the World Cup (with or without said player) is superior to world-class Portuguese players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Eusebio?

If you want to compare their national teams though, how about comparing how England and Brazil have done during Kane & Richarlison's careers. Both of them played in the 2022 World Cup and both teams went out in the same round (QF). In 2018, England reached the SF and Brazil went out in the QF, with Kane winning the Golden Boot and Richarlison not even selected to play.

Mate your a first class CLOWN
Why insult someone you don't know just because they provide a fact-based opinion that disagrees with you? It's pretty clear who the "first class clown" is in this scenario...or perhaps you're just a troll? :troll:

I do actually rate Richarlison, but Kane is clearly the far superior player. If you honestly disagree with that, I can only presume you haven't watched them both play regularly, because even a "first class clown" should be able to see the huge gulf in class between these two players.

Every time Richarlison has underwhelmed at RW, SC is filled with people defending him on the basis that he should be on the left instead.
Every time he has underwhelmed at LW, SC is filled with people defending him on the basis that he should be playing CF instead.
Every time he has underwhelmed at CF, it's because he doesn't get a run of games.

I actually agree with all of the above reasons for him not producing his best form this season. However, our fans have been far quicker to write off other forwards in the past, despite them facing similar challenges. At the end of the day, CFs will only find their best scoring form if they play regularly, but while Kane is in the squad he's the only CF who's going to regularly start games. This has been the ongoing issue with signing a good back-up for Kane.

The last sub striker I can recall who was able to score consistently as a "super sub" / rotation player for us was Defoe (he scored 18 goals in all competitions during 2006-07, while Berbatov & Keane were starting ahead of him). Unsurprisingly, these players are few and far between - particularly since the shift away from 4-4-2, which has further restricted the rotation of CFs / strikers.
Solskjaer & Chicharito both did it for Man Utd, during two of their most dominant spells under Fergie. Jesus did it for Man City. All three of those players managed to score more goals as a sub / rotation player than Richarlison ever did as a regular starter for Everton or Watford.

I think Kane would buy out his contract before that happens. I'm partially serious.

Son looks shit suddenly.
Kulu looks shit suddenly.
Richarlison looks shit suddenly.
Even Kane looks bored stiff.
I suspect it may not be the players that are the problem.
