The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Luis Martins as First Team Coach.

Luis previously worked at Sporting Lisbon winning national titles as coach of their Under-17 and Under-19 sides in 2004 and 2006, respectively, working with teams which included Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Joao Moutinho..

Arsenal are set to take French starlet M'Baye Niang on trial, but his new coach has told him not to go.
The Gunners have made their move for the highly-rated 17-year-old forward, who is also being tracked by Newcastle and Stoke.
It is understood that Niang will link up with Arsenal

this week, however, new Caen coach Patrice Garande does not believe he should be looking to leave at this point.
"What I say in relation to him is simple, he has talent - yes, does he have the potential to make a career - yes," he said.
"But is he doing the right thing for this at the moment - no."
Asked if he would be using him next season, Garande replied: "If he is here I will count on him, he leaves tomorrow we won't."
Niang scored twice in 14 starts for Caen in Ligue 1 last season

homophobia?

:ROFLMAO:

I hit him because he was acting like a ****. I was guilty because like it or not it felt like I was hitting someone I shouldnt have.

If it was someone like Mike Tyson then I wouldnt have felt that way, except he was more like Alan Carr.

The fact he may or may not have been gay played no part until I had chance to reflect though

If he was like Alan Carr then the pre-emptive strike was unneccessary, as you would be very unlikely to have taken a hiding. If the guy is paraletic and being dealt with by the bouncers then you had no need to get involved, imo.

Then again, some people just fucking love a tear-up and are just waiting to be 'given the eye', so they can drop the age old 'what you looking at?'. Fuck violence, fuck it in its eye with a sharpened rock. You should have showed some self-control in my opinion.

Back on topic:

Am chuffed Verts has finally officially signed, and now we need some strikers! Ade seems pretty close, not sure who else we may get....maybe Kane is ready for the step up..

Rubbish. He was the heartbeat of a side, albeit a strong one, that won everything in sight under AVB. He's an established international and we signed Luka for £16.5M 4 yrs ago having done less.

Hold on. He played 5 games. Anonymous in the 1st v Germany, better v Denmark, played really well v Holland, not as well against the Czech's and had a good 1st half v Spain. By my reckoning that's 3.5 decent games.

Before these 3.5 games we probably would have been able to pick him for a lot less than they're after now.

As for Luka (ignoring the fact he's a much better player) was 22 when we signed him an a host of top clubs were after him. Keep him 4yrs sell for £35m. Moutinho is 26 in a month or 2. Keep him 4 yrs & sell him for absolutely no where near £35m.

Yeah, fair point, but you've got to allow the new manager some rope.
If he sees him as his midfield pivot, so be it.
I mean, despite the padlock on the chequebook compared to his usual standards look at what Redknapp did when he got here! Keane, Defoe, Palacios, Chimbonda for c.£47m!

With the exception of Chimbonda I'd say the others were worth it, considering they helped improve the strength and spirit of the team when we were heading for the championship.

As for Moutinho I think the key thing would be for AVB to have a player familiar with his style of football in the middle of our team. It would help the other players to adapt quicker.

Eh? Modric had been playing for Croatia for over two years when we signed him and was named in the Euro 2008 Team of the Tournament?? 3 league titles, two cups and a super cup in Croatia for Modric.
