Will deffo get laughed at for this, but I wouldn’t mind Deeney. He’s a leader, the sort of striker Mourinho likes, would probably be happy to be second choice and he also doesn’t seem to like Arsenal.

Tottenham offered chance to sign Watford captain Troy Deeney with the north London side interested in securing a loan deal as Jose Mourinho seeks cover for Harry Kane

Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Watford striker Troy Deeney.

The club allowed Troy Parrott to join Millwall on loan on Saturday and want cover for Harry Kane.

Watford are ready to offload Deeney and a number of other big earners ahead of their season in the Championship and the 32-year-old is of interest to Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham are understood to have spoken about an initial loan but Deeney only has one year on contract.

He's a battering ram and this is something different than what we presently have at the club. offering something from the bench when needed could work well for us.
Being a captain of another club is showing he is a leader and he's respected in that club. The more leaders with have pulling together the better.
He dislikes Arsenal and so for me that is an added bonus and home-grown to help with those numbers
Not the top signing we need but it could be a good one as he fits JM's style

I’d like an experienced striker to bridge that gap between Troy Parrott and the first team. I don’t know how I feel about that striker being Troy Deeney, but I don’t have any better suggestions.

Great interview but I’d rather us sign Callum Wilson. I think he’s the better player and is 4 years younger.

Deeney struggled with a knee injury throughout the season, which at 32, is concerning — although he’d say I’m a cheeky bastard for suggesting so :ROFLMAO:

I was dead against this initially but having really considered it, I think Deeney would make a lot of sense.

If it’s true and we do loan him, we are getting a very experienced striker with home grown status, evidently brilliant leadership skills and someone who I can’t imagine would kick up a fuss over playing second fiddle to Harry Kane. For free as well.

Some might argue we should’ve just kept Parrott if Deeney was the best we could do. I disagree with that. What if Parrott stayed and didn’t develop due to a lack of playing time or what if we signed Deeney for a year which allowed Parrott to go and score 15-20 goals for Millwall? Next summer we’d be looking at getting a young, incredibly promising striker in to replace Deeney and challenge Kane for his position. For free as well.

This summer we clearly have to be very clever and very shrewd. I think this ticks both of those boxes imo.

I’m fine with it just like how I’m fine with Wilson. I just want an actual backup striker to Kane who can at least be serviceable in the event he gets injured. Deeney can do that.

Wouldn't be my first choice but if we get into the window and none of our main targets seems a goer I wouldn't cry if we brought him. He's be perfectly fine for the odd lower league match and cup games.

Would be perfectly fine with this. Guy is royal pain to play against for center backs. Holds the ball up. Plays his tail off. Has real nastiness about him when needed.

I think at this stage of proceedings and considering it's 3am - as long as the man in charge of matters on the football pitch is happy then what do I know and care?

If it ticks enough boxes to free up cash to be spent balancing else where, let's do it. Same for Wilson.

Doesn't mean I didn't have dreams of grandeur when it came to the window again and how I envisioned the team being strengthened Vs. the reality of it.

Totally fine with this. Good player to have in the dressing room, could lead the line solo, could play alongside Kane, and most of all could offer something different late on in games much like Jose did with Fellaini. Not pretty but effective.

We got to think slightly long term for 2nd no9 - also even Watford fans banter he got only one knee. Why take the risk again for the 2nd no9

Troy Parrott is our long term plan for no. 9

Deeney could make sense if it's a loan or a freebie, he'd be useful for at least one season.

Only on loan if it happens, or a one year contract with an option to extend in our favour. That would make sense given the Parrott situation. Anything else would be daft.

He's looked miles off it in the Watford games I've seen this season. Struggling to get around and really just spending his time banging into the other teams defenders.

I'd have been up for it a few years ago. I was at the game where they secured promotion to the PL and I was impressed by his all round play, he was all over the pitch, running the channels and really bringing others into play well.

Can't see Watford letting him go on loan. Surely at his age he would want one last crack at prem as a starter which likes of WBA would probably give him. At his age he'd also want a good contract given likely to be his last one.

Can't see this one meeting what either him or us need so can't see it happening

I'd like him, but not just him. Bringing In a Sardar Azmoun calibre player, and Deeney would be perfect. But if we just bring in Deeney, there's issues.

I can’t imagine there is any truth in us wanting him. I bet he’s been offered to every PL team and wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up somewhere like Palace.
