I guess a loan move makes sense for Roma with the injury/surgery required by Castan (which is really strange, by the way). Yanga-Mbiwa (also on loan from Newcastle) is currently injured but it's thought to be a few weeks, not long term. He's actually been playing okay for them and Davide Astori (also bought in the summer) has been very good. They also bought Manolas in the summer. They have quite a few decent CBs at current, so Chiriches coming on for a loan might make sense. If he performs well, a host of Italian clubs would probably be vying for him in the summer.

Roma reach agreement for Tottenham Hotspur defender

Roma have reached an agreement with Premier League side Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches, and now must find an accordance with the club.

The 25-year-old Romanian international has struggled to establish himself under new boss Mauricio Pochettino this season, and will be allowed to leave the club in January.

Sky Sport Italia report that Chriches has agreed a move to the Serie A outfit in January, and will move once the two clubs come to a mutual agreement over a fee.

Roma director Walter Sabatini will travel to London in the coming weeks in order to try and thrash out deal, with the club confident of getting a deal done.

Chiriches has only made three appearances for Tottenham this season in the league.
