Main thoughts:

- Badly missed first choice centre mids;

- Dele underwhelming - he’s just not a creative 10 in the Eriksen mould;

- CCV decent again; I see something in Clarke too;

- Gazzaniga rather than Hart on bench for Everton please;

- We’ll need kind draw in Carabao Cup to make it through two rounds with a second string.

I love a number 10 but how many top quality of them are there in world football now?

The position doesn’t really exist anymore in lots of teams. Even KDB plays in central midfield for Man City now.

The result is irrelevant but I still worry about the way we're playing. More creative options are a must.

I wouldn’t read to much into today’s game, lots of players missing and it’s just a friendly.
We will have much more creativity with Kane, Bergwijn, GLC back and son playing deeper

Exactly. I see people having concerns about the creativity but we were missing all our key play-makers but Dele and Son. Son was playing out of position and Dele just had an off game after looking good the rest of the preseason.

It will be a tough start with Everton first who I see as a good team and with players arriving midweek from Internationals but I am confident we will be a good attacking team if all are healthy.

Man if CCV were two inches taller. He’d be perfectly fine as a 4th/5th CB.

This reminds me of when a mate of mine said to me about my then girlfriend ‘she’d be alright if she grew another foot’... Which I always thought was weird, why would I want a freak girlfriend with three feet? The cost of shoes alone would put me off.

So which one is it? Decent or ponderous? ?

He didn’t look fit, so I think the word ‘ponderous’ is a reasonable word to use to describe his performance today. But then again, he did show some good signs of decent play too. I’m so confused...

I remember Glenn Hoddle saying it was unlucky to win all your preseason games, so there’s that.

I always think of `David Bentley’s hubristic grin when being interviewed after that pre season we tonked everyone before the “2 points from 8 games”.

I thought N'Dombele was good .1st game of the season he moved the ball well and there was was delightful flick over an oncoming Watford player which was a delight. He didn't pull up any trees but neither did the rest
