In a funny sort of way it seems to mean more to them than it does to us, it's like it is all they've had to hold on to.

It says a lot that the one time it looks highly likely we'll finish above them is the point where they all start throwing their toys out of their collective prams.

If they finished 4th with Chelsea, City, and Liverpool/United above them it would just be business as usual.

I think it's because they realise that they have underachieved by a long stretch. Having been in CL for the last 18 consecutive seasons, got to the final twice and lost it both time must make them spit hot coals. The idea of us beating them in the league is just the final straw.

Don't get me wrong, I am not feeling sorry for them, on the contrary. I only just realised that the last time we finished above them was the year I met, and moved in with my wife. That's been too long to keep finishing below Ar5na1, but I still enjoy .......... (work it out) !

I don't have sympathy for them and it's not over yet.

However whatever happens regarding our title push if we can finish above them as a consolation prize then I'll take it for one reason. The fact that I would get to go through one summer without every single gooner giving me shit. I don't even want to brag. The silence and the fact they will deliberately avoid me will purely be enough for me. It would feel like heaven

Bloody pedants! :ROFLMAO:

But you're right (bastard!). They got to one CL final in 2005/06 and lost, dropped from CL to EUFA cup in 1999/2000 and lost that.

But it's still fucking funny! :p:p:p

I threw and smashed my full plate of dinner on the floor when scumlord tossarse scored their goal and then danced a wonderful merry jig round the shards and splatters when beautiful Belletti did his thing. Pity he then went to Chelsea and ruined all his good karma for life.

May the 17th. My birthday, when scumlord tossarse (ha!) scored, I was pretty sure it was going to be the worst birthday of all time.

Fortunately they lost and my gooner housemate ended up coming back from the pub with his red and white face paint running off his chin as a result of his tears. That's not even an exaggeration!

And people are saying they feel sorry for them now! Behave.

Watched it where I worked, nice and quiet, no Gooners. Then when the final whistle blew. Me and old friend of mine walked through the pub just down the road that was filled to the brim of them. Basking in their salty tears. It was a beautiful thing :)

Then the penny dropped. DOH!

Poetic justice personified! :D
I literally came back in the thread to edit my original post to make clear I wasn't calling you Judas LOL.

Does anyone else not think that this infatuation with finishing above Arsenal has materialised from Aresenal's Infatuation for St. Totteringham Day?

It has been Arsenal Fans (Not Arsene Wenger or AFC) infatuation to cover up a mediocre 10 years in the PL. They have been at the top table for the last 10 years not purely on Merit, but because to be frank the other 16 teams have been shit. There has never really been any pressure put on the top 4 other than a couple of Freak (I use this word loosely bit you get my drift) seasons from us & Everton.

I feel that it has been this Stale Mediocrity that has led to the infatuation with St. Tott. Day with Arsenal Fans. I honestly feel that it has in there tiny insular minds become a trophy.

I, along with all my Tottenham peers have never felt the same infatuation with finishing above Arsenal. Perhaps it is just me but I have always been hoping for bigger things than finishing above Arsenal.

If we won the FA Cup, Champions League, and finished 2nd in the PL behind Arsenal I would be happy as a Pig in Shit.
It is for this reason that I am not really going to gloat at Arsenal "IF" we finish above them. Yes they have been a thorn on our side over the past 20 years. Just smile and move on. They are really not worth it.

To me it is like moving up to Secondary School, We would be looking at the School Bully who has been terrorising us for the past 5 years, with nothing more than a wry grin and a "Meh", while he remains in the Primary School Playground, looking around for the West Ham fan, because he has spent to long being the Big Fish in a Small Pond and not concentrating on what really matters.

I for one don't really give a shit about Arsenal. Yes it will be fantastic for my Nephews to be able to walk around the playground with their head held high, but we need to concentrate on things tat really matter. And that is how well we do and not how well others do.

While we are "COMPETING" at the top table, they will still be fantasising on the little 2-bit Battle that is St. Totteringham Day.

COYS!!!!!
