After Poch news breaking yesterday:
Holy fucking shit.

Now Utd are gonna get a great coach. Fuck.

Holy shit!! That was unexpected

haha, time for their season to really implode?

I respect Poch a lot, this project has run its course though so felt it was inevitable.

Shocking timing though, expected him to last the season and if he didn't, why didn't he go at the beginning of the international break?

He's a top manager and can be a rival at the right club.

Haha, bye now. Be funny to see Spurs get even worse than they are now, all their best players leave for pittance and they get relegated and play the likes of Luton in their cheese stadium. c*nts.

Mourinhos probably looking at this thinking Levy is the perfect excuse for an early sacking and early payout. Levy isn’t stupid enough to get Mourinho imo.

Edit: ok so maybe he is stupid enough

After Jose was announced:

Its Official, Mourinho has just been announced on SSN as the new Spurs manager, contract signed

We really broke these

Mad bastards!

Unless Levy is going to totally change his transfer policy, surely Maureen isn't going to be happy with no cash to spend.

Always a joy to see Mourinho back in the Premier League. He’s such a character. The place had been quiet without him...do fuck off.

People didn’t seem to like Spurs when they had a seemingly decent bloke in charge, can’t see this appointment changing opinions!

Depressing to think the Mourinho circus is back in town. Who gets chucked under the bus first then, Eriksson?

He's said he is looking forwards to working with the squad and the players in the academy - lying bastard.

As long as this c*nt doesn't wreck our title challenge.

That's got to be what Levy got him for, he knows it'll all end in tears in 3 years but if he could bring in a trophy or two before this group of players are too past it, it'll be mission accomplished. Spurs have had a good squad playing some great stuff for the last 4 years but nothing to show for it, think they're just desperate for some silverware at this point.

Jo Mo gonna set out 2 banks of 5 at the top of the box, about 5 games in the fans are gonna destroy the new stadium a fit of rage at the dour tactics and boring play.

On the bright side this could be the one where he actually cracks up. United nearly did it.

Strange to say the least but they should have been building on the past few seasons and lately just stagnated which is a pity for any Spurs fan. Surely will be a shyte show under Jose as he may win a cup for them in the next two seasons but you know whats going to happen as we have seen it at Chelsea, Real and Utd. Will be a right old soap opera there by 2021

I had a few shocked texts this morning. Shocked at the sacking, then shocked at my reply. They didn't realise how long this poor period had been going on for.

Then some praising the Mourinho appointment.

What are those 'Appy 'Ammers saying about us...

Before Jose announced...

Good timing..

He's taken Spurs so far on limited resources, I think he's one of the best in the world to be honest. Levy will be under huge pressure to get the next appointment right.

we should counter it by sacking Pellegrini -)

That is a crazy decision. Wonder if Jose is lined up.

Bad news for the bloke at Man U.

Going by my Social media right now, this is a very unpopular decision.

Completely mad decision from a football perspective, a very good manager , took Spurs places they should never hve got to given their limited spending on players...but that's what happens when you move into a spanking new stadium, 20k new ST's, expectations rise above the ability to shell out on 'next level' players - sounds familiar?

He spent a net £70m in the summer.

They're 20 points off the top, 11 away from a CL spot.

Why is this a bad decision by Levy ?

Spurs STH family are very VERY worried that Josè is next

Thing is, they have the same mentality about the football standard as some of us do or did - the reaction to George Graham and the football under AVB was comically loud

Mourinho and Spurs will be horrible in the second season hopefully

I think Spurs have dropped a bollock here.

If Mourinho is the best they can aspire too, then they are bang in trouble.

Its beautiful

He'd been there 5 years , said he'd leave if he won the Champions League , they're a shadow of the team which impressed two seasons back so what alternative was there other than giving him £100m with which to re-shape the team , too many stale or underperforming players , the only solution is a new Manager .

crazy decision. he's improved almost every player in that team and made them much better than the sum of their parts.

there must be more to this than we know as i can't see levy doing this without some kind of plan.

Jose did not need 100s of millions to win The Champions League for Porto or Inter did he? Make no mistake, Spurs will no longer be Spursy with Mourinho in charge, with that squad they will win trophies.

Fingers crossed it does not happen......

response...

A massive fingers crossed it does happen for me. He would be a very unpopular choice, they wouldnt give him money, he wont play youngsters, they wont like the style, it wouldnt take much for them to get on his back with a squad that already feels undervalued financially. Jose would take them further backwards very quickly, i very much doubt there would even be much of a 'new manager' bounce. He would be gone within 18months with a hefty severence

After Jose announcement:

Blimey, that was a quick turn around.
Less than 12 hours since Pochettino was sacked (publicly)

So soon!!!!! I fear a terrible battering is coming our way

Jose & Tottenham doesn’t seem the right fit to me.
He will get the hump if he doesn’t get enough cash.

What have they done?

Replaced a highly regarded / talented manager in world football with a washed up loon.

Still, he might win them a trophy.

Mourinho won't win anything for them. It'll be beautiful to see that club seriously implode in 6-12 months time.

Levy has just given us another reason to hate Spurs. I didn't think it possible.

It will be a rough ride for some of that squad that's for sure. I think the club might regret it.

And yet despite the fact that Pochettino had a net total spend of just £110m over 6 seasons, someone on here reckoned he is no better than Redknapp.

This is the moment for a near neighbour to start running their club professionally.

West Ham could make the most of Mourinho stifling Tottenham.

We won't though, obviously.

Morning all.

Jose won’t have taken that job without certain assurances regarding budget.
He managed to get a 2nd place finish out of a poor Manchester United squad. Many would regard the current spurs squad as better than that MU squad.
Lastly he’s a winner. Spurs have a habit of going close but not winning, he’s your man for this.

Questions over his methods & playing style absolutely, but football managers don’t last long so as a two year appointment I think he’ll do well.

I think it's a good time to start looking at January transfers. There's gonna be a few spuds that are not happy with his appointment that might fit into our team.... Given most of them have already had it with Levy and are running down contracts this could be an awful move by spurs and Mario and Pellers might try and take advantage of it......!

I will be sending the club a huge lasagne today to congratulate them on the new appointment!

This is really bad news for us, they've finally got a winner in, they'll win something in the next 24 months, we won't hear the end of it and they'll forgot Poch instantly and see him as an underachiever

I think he's an exceptional manager, perhaps not his team's playing style, but his management style resonates with specific type of players...he just needs to pick which ones.

This has me pretty nervous to be honest, depending on how much money he's given, I think they could be on an upwards curve.

It's all ****ing bonkers, isn't it?

Pocchetinno has been a huge part of getting Spurs to where they are with a limited squad. A few poor results and he's sacked, and will now likely go to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Spurs then appoint as replacement a man who has twice now been shown up to be yesterday's man who uses outdated tactics and relies heavily on outspending all his rivals.

Football is eating itself.

With the daunting prospect of facing the rampaging and free scoring West Ham at the 'Fortress Olympia' the Tottenham chairman has panicked and appointed Jose Mourinho in what can only be described as a damage limitation exercise.

It will be interesting to see how Levy and Mourinho’s relationship plays out as they are cut from completely different cloths.

How were the Chelsea, Lpool and United fans treating you last week? Genuine question.
Quite maturely to be fair -that we were going through a bad patch and that Poch deserved a chance to turn it round.

100% this. Outside people still think it was all rosy and great until yesterday. If they actually paid attention they would know it was becoming inevitable.

Ignore them.

Exactly. I was chatting to my pub landlord the other day, who's a massive Liverpool fan and the conversation started by him saying we'd be mad to get rid of Poch, he's the best thing that's ever happened to us etc
After explaining our results, point tally and exactly how long our "blip" has gone on for, he changed his mind and came round to my way of thinking.
He hadn't looked at it in any depth, like tactics, formations, squad harmony and so on.
Like all fans, us too, we only really know what's happening at our club and most knowledge of our opponents come from a (usually skewed) media view.

I've got a mate who's a bit of a moron. He was a Chelsea fan, but when they sacked di Matteo, he got so angry at Abramovich that he started to support Aston Villa instead, because most of his familiy are Villa fans. He was over the moon when Villa appointed di Matteo, and look how that turned out.

Anyway, today I received a snap from him where he offered me his condolences. I replied that I was quite happy, and thought this was necessary to keep Kane. He then replied that the football would be shit. Which is quite the statement coming from someone whose hero played the most defensive and negative football I have ever seen.

Chelsea fan on the Athletic comments section on the Poch sulking article, very bitter. (FWIW their comments page is terrible. Full of fans who must only watch football on TV):

Having survived both Jose spells (and both versions of the man) at Chelsea and warned Utd-supporting mates of the car crash they were about to witness, I feel compelled to let Spurs fans know what is going to happen next.
1. Jose’s opening presser will include a lot of lines about using young players and playing beautiful football. The more naïve observers will lap it up and the journalists present who witnessed the mess at Chelsea and Utd will suddenly develop amnesia. But spoiler alert – it’s all lies. In the words of [checks notes] J. Mourinho: “I’m Jose. I don’t change.”
2. Spurs will win a trophy. It’ll be the 2021 Carabao Cup but it still counts. But this will give Jose the leverage to demand the club sign a load of big players. Literally. Spurs will sign a lot of tall, physically imposing, old dudes and Spurs will embrace their inner Pulis for the next 2 years.
3. Jose will run the star players into the ground as he knows he’ll be gone in 2 years. Remember *that* 2015/16 when Hazard could barely move and was permanently injured? That was after 2 years of playing 90 mins every 3 days, without ever being rotated or rested. That intensity works for 2 years then it falls apart. Son and Kane can look forward to that.
4. Jose will pick a sacrificial lamb to try and bully out the club to exert his authority. At Chelsea it was KdB and Mata. At Utd it was Pogba and Shaw. At Spurs I’ll guess it’ll be…Dele.
5. Jose will leave after 2 years and Spurs will be left with a toxic wasteland of old, tired players on huge contracts with everyone at the club worn down from this circus. It's inevitable and there's nothing the fans can do about it.

It might well be but that doesn’t mean that sacking Poch was the wrong decision.

Poch ran players into the ground, we’ve currently got some tired old players running down contracts so wtf is the difference? And by all accounts things have gotten pretty toxic in the camp too.

I would hope there's a clause in Poch's severance deal which precludes him from managing in the PL for the foreseeable future.
