Severence isn't a lump sum - it'll be installments/wages that end as soon as/if clauses are hit (another job, for example).

That's how it works with PL managers, regardless of whether someone wants to believe it. Same as the "It'll cost £30m!", when it clearly didn't/won't.
I listened to 'The Transfer Window' podcast earlier with Duncan Castles and Ian McGarry, they seem to think that Poch and staff are on 'gardening leave', still on the payroll until he goes elsewhere at which point they'd negotiate any settlement. Cited the wording 'relieved of his duties' rather than the usual 'dismissed' in the club statement.

It does sound like a Levy move to be honest.

Makes sense, no point paying out all that money in 1 whack when it can be spread.
So right now we're effectively paying Poch £8.5m per year, and Jose £15m per year....mental, but it had to be done.

Pretty much how it works. No doubt United have been paying Mourinho for the past year. Several Chelsea managers have passed comment on their situation being the same, too. Possibly Conte? Was basically saying that it would cost him money to take a PL job or something.

Difference with RM/MU/Chelsea is that we won't see 'not winning the league' as a failure.

He's under waaaay less pressure, which makes it interesting.

I agree, he'll have a completely different mindset due to the lack of pressure.

He's got a free pass this season, due to our current position, and next season the objective will only be a return to the top four.
If he wins a league/Europa/FA cup during that period he'll already be an instant success.

Here, he's actually got the chance to build something and I suspect the lack of pressure at a club with the squad, finances, and infrastructure we now have was the main attraction for him.

Haven't they been paying attention?
You could say they same about us and Mourinho

Why haven't we been paying attention at how he completely lost the plot in his last 2 jobs at Chelsea and Man Utd

What makes anyone think it will be different with us.

I’m not sure I do, but that’s the risk you take for the potential rewards.

He will be under less pressure but I'm sure he's been told that we need CL football.

I don't think Poch will join Arsenal, he has gone on record before saying that he understand's club loyalty between two big rivals, and secondly, he can go onto manage a much bigger club than Arsenal, such as Man U & Real Madrid.

I also don't think they're a particularly attractive proposition. They're in a similar situation to us really so it would be a bit of a sideways move. Despite the last few months he's still one of the highest rated managers out there so he'd be daft to settle for arsenal when he's got a very good chance of getting a job like Real Madrid/Man Utd/Bayern etc. within the next 6 months

Isn't that how it always works though? AFAIK continuing to pay their wages until they find another job seems to be the standard agreement for managers when they're sacked. I don't think this some stroke of genius from Levy, more just a boilerplate managers contract.

People seem to have decided he is on £15 million per year but based on what exactly? I'm guessing some lazy journalism. Nobody is actually going to come out and give the true figure, unless perhaps it has to appear in the next company accounts .

I have a theory that every rival fan or pundit who mocks the Jose appointment or makes the usual 'he can't do it without a warchest' comment, are making their observations from a deep rooted basis of fear as to how good we could be under Jose. I reckon if you could have an honest conversation with an Arsenal fan (tricky i know) they would admit to being terrified, just as we probably would have been had Jose rocked up at the library.

Maybe so however the perception always is '£xxxx compensation' to be paid. There was plenty of talk on here of there being £30m reasons why Levy wouldn't sack Poch etc. At the end of the day it comes down to the contract in place, some managers may get away with different terms depending on their leverage when signing.

Journalism is how we find out the vast majority of information from the club.
Not sure what your point is tbh, are we to dismiss everything that doesn't come from directly from the club?...there won't be fuck all to talk about.

Man Utd were still paying Moyes up until recently.

Arsenal fan at work had a comment to make every time we passed each other today, I couldn't help but think "this guy is actually scared!".

Sorry mate but who really gives a fuck?

Plus we don’t know all the ins and outs. If you listen to certain people poch’s departure was mostly of his own making. Other people say he actually wanted to leave.
Plus, most of those same people usually smirk when we're mentioned and snidely remark about the zero trophies, and that was under their sudden BFF Poch.

Fuck 'em!
