That's 1 more than we've won in the last 20 years Lighty.

I feel a bit sorry for you, that if Jose does get us over the line, you won't be able to celebrate or enjoy it because of this weird, unhealthy bitterness that you're harbouring.
I know I take the piss and whatnot, but Its sad that any Spus fan should be in this position.

what I class as unhealthy is fans that wanted us to lose to get rid of Poch. you might have not been one of those, but you were full force on wanting him out.

I will want Spurs to win, and will be happy after a win, but it doesn't mean I have to support him just like other people don't support Levy

Arsenal Mania:

Tottenham rejuvenated under Jose while we’re stuck with two Spanish bums.

You hate to see it.

Ffs westham you really made it easy for mourinho

Boring Mourinho scoring more goals in one game than we have all season.

No need to worry about Sp**s finishing ahead of us. If things stay like this, Norwich will finish ahead of us.

It completely went over my head that all Sp**s had to do was win one game to go above us.

One win to put them 6th and they were still ambitious enough to change manager while we sit a wait for things to get worse. Basically that's St.Totteringham's day gone this season. Expect Sp**s to rack up the wins under Jose over the coming months while we'll have a nightmare December into January. The more ways you look at it the more our situation becomes an absolute joke. Don Raul masterclass.

Great, so that’s Sp**s finishing above us for a 4th year...and the worst part is, as bad as West Ham are, they will definitely beat us in a few weeks...which is my birthday...Wilshere hat trick incoming!

Kane is everything you'd expect Mourinho to want in a front man

He's everything you'd want from a front man, full stop. Unless you're Messi or Ronaldo I'd prefer a front man who can hold things up, bring others into play, run the channels WHILE ALSO being absolutely lethal and making good runs to get into scoring positions. He has everything, he's the best number 9 on the planet and now under Mourinho's fresh ideas you'll see that more than ever. Under Poch things got stale and the whole team suffered. Many had knee jerk reactions to this, some others were a bit more cautious in making bold claims about Kane not being the strike he once was.

Yeah, 100% sure Jose will finish above Emery.

Just seen Mourinho in a nutshell.

- 3 nil up via dogged work and counter attacks.
- Fails to go for the jugular and drops back a few yards.
- Concedes two late goals but squeezes a win.

Sound familiar? Anyone who wanted Mourinho needs their head checking.

I'd never do that, until the day he was sacked I wanted him to turn it around...I couldn't see it happening, when it was clear he'd lost the dressing room (Bayern/Brighton) I felt it was time for change.

It doesn't make you a better fan just because you showed blind loyalty and failed to acknowledge the way things were heading.

And just for the record, I think Levy has been fantastic for us as a club, he has his faults like every human on this planet, but made the right decision to both let Poch go, and bring Jose in...If im being picky id say it was done a month too late, with that extra month we would've had a much greater chance of getting top 4 this year, I feel that might just be too much to ask this season...but saying that I can see why he was hesitant to replace Poch after everything he's done for us over the last 5 1/2 years.

One of the dads at my littl’un’s football team supports West Ham and he said to me today that it was a shock that Poch lost his job etc. He said to me ‘We need to get him in to West Ham and sack Pellegrini’. I thought he was mucking around so I said ‘Yeah and you should probably try and get Messi on a swap deal with Noble too’. He then said ‘You think Poch wouldn’t come to West Ham? We’ve got money to burn which he didn’t get at Spurs’. All this without a hint of humour or cheeky-chappiness. I said ‘No you’re right, i’m sure he’ll turn down the likes of Bayern, Utd, Madrid etc to go to Stratford’.

He genuinely thinks they could get Poch. He’s a decent guy too. Weird. I tried to be polite and say that Poch is a loyal type and probably wouldn’t go to a London club but what I meant was Poch is a loyal type and probably wouldn’t go to a London club that are 3 levels below the standard of a decent premiership club.

The literally pointless comeback to 2-3 has left opinions split on KUMB.

Some think West Ham are shit and Spurs not much better.

Having watched it again, Spurs looked even more **** than when I was in the stadium. How ****ing bad are we to be 3-0 down at home to them at one point...

Others think West Ham are shit and Spurs pretty decent

We are a million miles off Spurs. They don’t have one outfield player in their squad who wouldn’t walk straight into our first 11. It’s about time we took the blinkers off. In Son, Kane and Alli, they have 3 boys who can give it and throw their weight around. Mourinho will give them that nous and nasty streak to win a trophy. Now compare that with our front 3. Cowardly...and weak.

But, all in all, they're pretty much agreed that West Ham are shit. In all, the debate was probably best summed up by this post

A pretty average Spurs side were made to look like world beaters for 70 minutes. We all know it could have been 4,5 or even 6 nil by then. The club is so mithered and apathetic that it takes just a couple of bad results and we collapse, just as we are now. The eventual outcome will be a season where we don't scrape into mid-table and do go down. The whole club is just geared to failure from top to bottom. Without new owners, a new board, a new manager and a new team we're going nowhere.

Hmm. So change everything apart from the fans and West Ham will be OK? Not quite...

And we've lost the fan-base. For our "cup-final", just how **** was that atmosphere?

Oh dear.

From The Shed End

He just became Spurs manager ?
And to make things worse, we haven't played them yet this season ?

Glad we can finally put this ‘Chelsea man’ bollocks to rest. I can’t believe he had the audacity to talk about the academy in his statement ?

It will make beating them all the more enjoyable - especially if our youngsters score the goals.
This appointment has given me all the more reason to Hate Spurs. May it all end in spectacular failure.

Just when you think he couldn't raise the bar even higher for the most hated man in football role he does this .............. at least they are getting the 2019 version of JM not the 2004 version starting to look more more like Gloria Swanson .... " I am big ..........it's the clubs that got smaller "

He's done as an elite manager and any chairman appointing him now is being influenced by the memory of what he was 15 years ago and not what he is now; a charlatan, a snake, a sh*tehawk and a fraud.
He'll get the odd result along the way to hoodwink people, maybe even against us or Man Utd, but eventually some way or another, he'll find a way of sinking both himself and Spurs and it will be wonderful to watch.

I could just about forgive going to Man Utd, but this is just whoring himself around the PL now. Spurs fans didn't want him. They hate him. Though I'm sure he'll win them the league cup or europa league or something and they'll forgive and forget.
Wonder if he'll be booed when we play them.

Final straw as far as i'm concerned. Could stomach him at United but my respect for him as gone now he's at that lot. I would go as far as saying he has destroyed his legacy with Chelsea now.
He might win a cup or two with them but it won't be sustainable long term.
Also it's inevitable that when we play them in December he will remind us that he won 3 titles with us as if that's an insult. Chelsea has 2 premier league titles without Mourinho. Mourinho has 0 premier league titles without Chelsea.

Jose what have you done! Honest to go he must be desperate.
Have to say given how little Levy spends and their wage cap I could see it all ending in tears quite quickly. He will make an absolute beast out of NDombele though.

Really surprised he didn't hang on for Arsenal, they have shown that they'll splash a bit of cash at least. Maybe Levy thinks by getting Mourinho in he'll stop a player exodus in the Summer? Not so sure Jose has that aura about him anymore. How long before we hear rumours from Mourinho about "broken spending promises", "squad too small" etc. I can never hate Mourinho for what he did at Chelsea and this move does nothing to taint that legacy in my eyes, but it IS getting harder to remain fond of the guy.
A hairdresser of European extraction with a fondness for Arsenal said to me about a decade ago that Mourinho goes to clubs with good teams, not just anywhere. He must see potential at Spurs.

the special one V the super one !
time for the chelsea kids to bury a rotting legend.

He has been a main hater of the club in the last years, he showed that he never liked Chelsea in his heart by his words and actions. If it wasn't obvious a year ago, it's obvious now.

Spurs fans everywhere deleting their twitter and facebook post histories.

Very odd appointment. It really is a step down from Poch to Jose. Jose will try and be a good boy for the 1st year or so like he always does but watching the chaos that will inevitably ensue when he and Levy collide over transfers should be pure comedy. Mourinho is washed at the top level.
Since 2012, the only meaningful title he's won is the Premier league with us which Hazard carried him to. (I was watching some old matches from that season just a few weeks ago and the football was shocking, much worse than I remembered). Hazard gave everything including his body that 2nd half of that season, create, score, assist, ball carry, start attacks, track back.... It probably cost him physically the following season with some others as well.
Mourinho also won a Europa league with United albeit with a ridiculously easy run, they faced no one throughout the tournament.
As for expecting loyalty from Jose towards us. Maybe this will take his blind acolytes among us down a peg..... oh they're still out there. Mourinho does NOT GIVE A FLYING f**k about us. He's all about his ego and self preservation. How some still don't understand that is beyond me but some have their idols they've already made to infallible gods i guess.

Compare his conduct to Chelsea legends like JT, Lamps, DD, Eden, Zola, Joe Cole etc Players who won't be caught dead in Spurs uniform. Just the biggest mercenary and egomaniac in modern football history.

Just go back, see how he was offended by Conte, how he tried to attack one of our coaches, how he trashtalked the club and how he was almost always negative every time he said something about the club, he is not a legend of the club anymore, his ego is just too big. He on top of every bad thing he has said and done was always negative about Frank Lampard.
Now he is a Spud manager, I should have seen it coming honestly. I knew there was something there, now I have the final straw, Jose never cared about the club he only cared about himself.

I think he's an overrated tactician because Mourinho has always been excellent at coaching one side of football, defensive organization. When it comes to coaching organized attacks and build up from the back he's extremely average when compared to the other elite coaches. This is one of the reasons for his declining success in the last 6/7 years as football at the highest level has gone in a different direction.
His motivation/man management skills is currently the weakest aspect of his coaching. How can you rate him in that regard after all the chaos he has wrought in his last 3 jobs with Cristiano/Ramos/Casillas at Madrid, Hazard, female doctor at Chelsea and Pogba among others at United?
And he faced no one in the Europa league run. All these considered it was even a lighter touch than what we had last year. Facing a bunch of Ajax toddlers in the finals.

He's a horrible man and a horrible manager. He's perfect for Spurs.

The funny thing is I can see Tottenham struggle the next six games, ending with a massive loss to Bayern. I can't wait to see Mourinho start blaming these players that already have one foot out of the club. I think Harry Kane will struggle as well, isolated in attack. He might also leave, wich will be the end of Tottenham for several years to come.

"Chavs with no hope of increasing their stadium capacity and a chairman who cant even enter the country, they know their time is past."
Just come across this on the Spurs forum. You've got to laugh. How many times has our time been past in the last 10 years??
Playing some of the best football we have played in years, with the best youth prospects in the country regularly playing, a bright young manager who is only going to improve. Sat third in the premier league a head of last years champions (and 12 points clear of Spurs all the way down in 14th)
But yeah our time is past ?

Still find it hard to believe how quick this has unfolded from Poch's sacking to Mourinho's appointment.
I hope Spurs crash and burn under him.
Going to Spurs is unforgivable in my book.

This is why December 22. is the day we must blow them away.

I think we might be seeing the start of a long term downfall for Spurs.

I think he'll surprise a lot of people at Tottenham unfortunately. United was a mess long before he got there and he won the title with us before that.
When he's got top strikers he tends to do very well and Harry Kane might be the perfect Mourinho-striker. I actually fear them in the top-4 race again.
And it wouldn't surprise me at all if we end up facing them in the knockout-stages of the CL this season.
The game against them on December 22nd will be huge.

That’s a good point. He’s a frontrunner in horse racing terms.
Off topic but just been talking to a Spurs mate, who reckons that Poch never played the same lineup consecutively for 55 games. Mind boggling stat’ if true.

I don't know, he was very humble in defeat against Frank when he lost to his Derby side. He even said "that man right there, that was a man who I could depend on, that's a leader", something like that.
I don't think Jose is bitter towards Frank, I could be wrong but I don't think that's the case.

I doubt he wanted to come back for a third time
He has just refused to rule out returning again in his Spurs presser.

He reckons his learned his lessons and won’t make the same mistakes again. Anyone believe him?

If he can rediscover his charm then it could be the old Jose.

There's no chance for a third Jose regime with Chelsea, so that's a positive. At the end of the day, he needs a job and Spurs was the only one showed up. We all know how it will end, but levy needs that trophy and the choice was obvious. Unlike the past, I thought his expectation was pretty low, there was no "promise" of silverware , just "passion" and promoting academy players. One could argue he's more humble and mature now, I see it as he lost that bit of aura and confidence

...

Assume all of these comments are from immediately after the announcement and before the West Ham game?

Kane didn't look isolated at all. In fact, more involved than he had been for months. Odd for Chelsea fans to believe that and not remember how they played with Drogba and Costa. Particularly when they had Robben and Duff. The similarity with using Son and Moura in those roles is an easy link to make. Lampard/Alli (or Eriksen). Then again, it's rare for opposition fans to be positive at moments like this. Just have a look at the Arsenal Mania posts before and after...

This one:
'I think he'll surprise a lot of people at Tottenham unfortunately. United was a mess long before he got there and he won the title with us before that. When he's got top strikers he tends to do very well and Harry Kane might be the perfect Mourinho-striker. I actually fear them in the top-4 race again.'

sounds a bit more, er, sensible. As if they've stepped out of the rivalry bubble for 30 seconds.

Fair point about the match in December being huge, Hopefully JM and his team have enough time to sort out the defence ahead of that match.

From Red Cafe They have a poll at the top of the Mourinho to Spurs thread asking if they think he'll win us a trophy. 61% think yes.

I wonder if the Spurs fanbase will end up as split and toxic as ours? Probably not as I'd presume most of their supporters have always disliked Jose?
They all bloody love him now!

People would be wise to remember that Spurs have a better squad than we do, and it's a squad that's very much suited to Mourinho.

I totally forgot winning in the past means automatically you will win in the future, recent circumstance and history be damned.
Yeah...

He has won at least two leagues or cups in each of his last six jobs.

But as you were ;)

It will end in tears and be delightful to watch

he has picked a good job IMO. Spurs have tons of potential. Some underestimate the strength of the foundations Pochettino has laid down. If anything the Mourinho of today showed that this is what he struggles with. Now, he's got a very progressive modern football team that's nearly ready to make a step up IMO. Question is whether he can take them there. I do feel Levy has started to let loose when it comes to spending so the time is right.

So yeah, it's a job brimming with opportunity and potential, but remains to be seen how he does.

If anybody can take points off the 'pool.. Its this guy. I'm all for it by the way. The bastard will take points off us too. Its a price i'm willing to pay.

This is not good. Now Spurs can actually win the PL.

Really? Car crash waiting to happen this.

Rather they win the league than Liverpool, so maybe I infact do welcome the new Spurs overlord.

Jose will win trophies at Spurs. May not be the league or the CL but sure he will win. And he is going to finish above United too I feel

I just get a feeling things will turn out superbly well for Jose and Spurs. They're quite a match and good things will come out of this at the end of the day. Looking forward to the match with Westham, hoping for a positive results. Good luck Jose!

I notice he's already started with the little digs at players (telling a press conference that he asked Dele Alli if he was the real Dele or his brother...)

When he did stuff like that early on at United I optimistically looked at it as him coming in and bringing a winners mentality to the dressing room but in reality it's just a sneak peak of the inevitable turmoil and wars to come.

He never changes, and while sort of intrigued at how things will unfold I also feel quite uncomfortable at the idea of another public meltdown as by the end at Chelsea and United he didn't look physically or mentally well at all.

He is a top class manager no matter how a cnut he is. He has a better squad at Spurs and less expectations and less scrutiny at Spurs than at United. He will get them going for sure.

He has everything spurs were lacking, a winning mentality. They suit each other perfectly, tottenham is a few players away from challenging.

Spurs are up 2-0. Did Mourinho do anything besides just be not-Pochettino?

It's not hyperbole to say he pushed this club back a few years. Honestly.
Rubbish. The team Mourinho took over was complete crap. The team that Solskjaer took over was far better than that.

I don't doubt hell be successful, he's won everywhere he's been, and unlike Pep, with teams that shouldn't have won what they did.

I think this Spurs team is far ahead of what he had at United, and crucially unlike us it has top attackers that we didn't have. That's where we fall short compared to other big teams - to buy players like Son and Moura nowadays you'd have to spunk £70m each. Son, Kane, Moura and Dele are all a step up from our equivalents. If Jose gets better fullbacks and maybe a midfielder in, they'll have a top team.

Great start for him at Spur. His first 2 season will always be good.

He is going to do great at Spurs. Clearly has a point to prove and i expect this season to be a very long "pre season" for him and his side in preparation for MAYBE doing a surprize title push next season IF Spurs allow him to invest in the summer.

it would be funny if by the end of the season, Mourinho finishes above Ole.
He probably will finish above us. He's outdated and stubborn, with a tendency to self destruct, but he's a considerably better manager than Ole. People forget that he finished 2nd with us just 18 months ago.

The Mourinho cult is sickening on this site.

People saying he's a great manager or was a great manager doesn't mean there's a cult of any sort...

Poor result considering West Ham didn't even play with a goalkeeper.

He won 2 trophies for us. His first season was like in Fergie era. Trophies, big signings, good football...
And saying that world class manager is world class manager has nothing with "cult love" or something like that.
Bigger cult are people like you who hate him so much and keep talking that he is rubbish manager and who did awful job in United.
