Gomes
Naughton Hutton Corluka Woodgate Dawson King Bassong Ekotto Bale

Crouch

:) But a bit gung-ho for my liking. Keep Naughton and Bale on the bench to come on for Crouch for that tricky last half hour. Replace them with Cudicini and Button.

Gomes
Corluka King Bassong BAE
Hutton Huddlestone Wilson Bale
Crouch Keane

Why would any one play pav he has physiological problems remember

 The mind boggles.

The reasons I wouldn't pick Pav are far more straightforward than physiological or psychological. He has simply not been good enough at playing the game of football.

Every criticism hurled at Darren Bent last season are coming true for Pav, and then some. One-dimensional - check; crap link-up - check; poor communication - check; selfish - check; poor in the air - check; looking lost against decent oppo - check; and so on and etc.

Mitigating factors exist, I'm sure, but he's had two and a half hours of football in the past week and from what I've seen he has struggled to rise above the mediocre.

I would have had the game played on a Monday so it didn't fuck up my weekend!

Simple. Dont go with the same system which clearly didn't work away to Chelsea. Same result, same problems.

In truth the only change I would have had would have been to include Kranjcar in the run on side ahead of Keane......he is more mobile ....can play on the left and holds the ball well

All 3 goals showed our imbalance in midfield - not enough cover on the left. Bale should have started, with the Hudd sacrificed, then at least we would have been defensively balanced. Not sure it would have been a different result, but maybe not all over at half time

This was the exact team I proposed with an arse mate:

----------------Gomes-------------------
---Corluka---King-----Dawson----BAE-----
---Bentley--Palacios---Jenas----Krancjar--
-------------Crouch--Keane---------------

I'd have chosen the same, maybe swapped Crouch for Pav just to cut down on the useless high balls into the box, but it wouldn't have changed anything.

We lost because they all turned off after 40 mins. We were getting pinned back at first but we were generally containing them and starting to create some decent chances. All 3 goals were basically lapses in concentration and sluggishness, most noticably and uncharacteristically from king and WP.

I'm still scratching my head over it

Wow! Thanks for that intelligent and considered post there :bang:

Ridiculous how some people have literally NO idea about how this sport works and still claim to be a fan.
That's my opinion whether you like it or not JOHN BOY! I don't rate ARRY and i don't rate Crouchie and i am not easily pleased like the majority of spurs fans on this forum. Once again in a big game ARRY was found wanting he was negative and gave the gunners the adavantage even before a ball was kicked. How many team come to the emriates and do what we tried to do yesterday and stifle the game? The Answer plenty! but Arsenal have real top quality players so they know how to deal with it they virtually do it every week.
Our game plan was just kick it long to ARRY'S favourite player CROUCHIE! who he has bought 4 TIMES!!!!!?? in his mangerial career and imo brings nothing to the squad expect an option of playing ugly. Buying was pure laziness imo instead of looking for fresh new players he just stuck to his tried and trusted he has done ok so far manager but untill we start playing good football and winning trophies i am far from convinced.

Yep! The first goal came down our left, as it did against chelsea!

The problem is that with our best 11 we have a bit of everything and could play anybody without fear, when you lose 3 of our best attacking players and don't have like for like replacements in terms of style, it will be very difficult!

While I agree with you (except Dawson) I think we still would have lost - The likes of Bentley, Jenas, Keane, BAE, even King and Gomes - were just not good enough yesterday - This team below might have done better, but that was not an option for Harry - I didn't agree with his team, but in fairness it seemed to work for 42mins, and maybe he was planing to change it in the second half.....untill the wheels came off the wagon!

----------------Gomes-------------------
---Corluka---King-----Woodgate----BAE-----
---Lennon--Palacios----Krancjar---Modric
-------------Crouch--Defoe---------------

I was hoping to see Bale in for Hudd. Would've given some pace to the midfield, better balance & cover for disco as we're conceding quite a few goals down our left.

If Crouch is gonna play we have to have people getting close to him & giving him support. So we needed Keane playing just off him & JJ running from midfield, then with Bale & show pony crossing from out wide we may actually have made their born & bread english keeper make a save.

Awful result made all the worse by the style of football. Thank god Defoe's back & he should not be partnering Crouch on Sat.

Well, I have to agree with you, this was my post in Team vs Arsenal:

"I would go 4 5 1 :

Gomes
Corluka King Woodgate BAE
Jenas Palacios
Bentley Kranjcar Bale
Crouch

I actually think Harry won't use 442, but if he puts Keane on left wing, we are fucked."

So we had same lineup, my idea was that JJ and WP were holding midfielders, Bentley was supposed to cross for Crouch and help Charlie a lot defensively, Niko actually likes to play as almost 2nd striker in 451, has good shot and pass well, and is much more usable when he doesn't have to track back much, and Bale as the only one with pace when 451 switch to 433. But, we'll never now.

I would have gone with:

Gomes
Corluka King Basong Ekotto

Bentley Jenas Palacios Kranjcar

Keane Crouch
This is the same formula we've used to good success all season. Unfortunately it wasn't tactics that lost us the game but playing away to a superior team. Other than parking the bus and hoping for a clean sheet I can't see us getting anythingout of that game.

I don't like ur opinion on this occasion because it's utter nonsense.....simple as that. You can't call a player rubbish with NO foundation behind it.

Do you actually think that Crouch wanted the ball to banged long to his head all game? It's not like he goes up to Harry and says, let's play long ball today boss, I love that shit! I'd bet my house that he wants the ball into feet more often than not so you can't blame him and call him rubbish cos Harry got the tactics wrong on the day.

As far as buying him being a bad move....I bet you weren't saying that when he scored a hat-trick in the carling cup or when he scored against Birmingham. Lets not forget, he's scored for Liverpool many, many times in the champions league and has a brilliant record as an international class striker so maybe consider these things before making outlandish statements in future....that's all I'm saying.

You have to ignore people like him mate, look at his last post before this week, it was after Crouchie signed for us in July.

Basically he has been cowering in a corner while we had a great start to the season under Harry and with 3MP being involved, secretly hoping that we would fuck it up, and now with 2 defeats in a row in the league he can shout about it again.

Some people need to get their fix.
