Just wundering about Harrys transfers - always known players and no young talents....... Do we think about the future????

Just got those thoughts because that Arnesen has gone to Hamburg...

Hope Harry will prove me wrong...... What do You think

What age group do you mean?

If you mean the next ten years, there is not one player in the Premiership who would commit to that length of service.

The players in our current first team squad that could see out the next ten years are really only Bale, Sandro, Kyle Walker (on return) and Huddlestone.

Of the current batch of young keepers, Button could come through, but he won't reach Premiership potential until he is approaching thirty years old, upon which he most likely will have been moved on.

The future is largely our first team. Most of them are just getting into their mid-20's.

Modric, Lennon, Hudd, Daws (an elderly 27), BAE (almost bus pass age at 26), Kaboom, Bassong. Then Bale, who is barely out of his teens.

We're at a stage now where we can cherry pick some youngsters I think. Looking at our loans, probably Walker is the only one who will seriously pan out from those we brought in. Also, don't forget our homegrown fledging star and hopefully the next Ledders (caulker). He's still only 18.

No need to sign a whole bunch in the hopes that a couple make it. We've gone down that route and it was successful in helping us establish the current team. A nice youngster up front - Wickham (or Lukaku maybe) would do nicely to compliment our improved strike force next season, I hope.

Well he signed Dawson, Lennon, Hudd and Carrick did he not?

Everyone and they dog knew about these players before we signed them...

I'll give him the Fat Ronaldo at PSV.

Maybe I'm a little bitter against him since the bastard jumped ship without even completing a year with us?

Hope You all are right - but none off them mentioned is bought by Harry - thats what frightens me. Those were bought by Levy and Commoli

And Berba?? And the "real" Ronaldo at PSV

Comolli signed Berba

Everyone and they dog knew about these players before we signed them...

Carrick maybe, although we're the ones that took the punt on him. Daws was a good Championship defender, Lennon and Hudd weren't exactly known.

Whether or not they were known, he signed them. Carrick signed for £3m? sold for £18m. Daws/Hudd/Lennon signed for a combined £7.5m, now worth 10x that.

"The Frenchman has angered prominent figures at both north London clubs by talking up the role that he played in the recruitment of certain players. His claim, for example, that it was he who conceived the signing of Dimitar Berbatov at Tottenham in 2006 has numbered among the many to go down badly at the club. His predecessor in the role, Frank Arnesen, had done the legwork on the Berbatov deal.

Sources at Tottenham say that the only discovery Comolli made was that of the left-back Benoît Assou-Ekotto, while they also mock him for electing to pursue the signing of the striker Darren Bent from Charlton Athletic in 2007 rather than follow up the club’s initial interest in Fernando Torres, who would join Liverpool from Atlético Madrid that same summer. It ought to be noted that Torres was realistically only ever going to leave Spain for Anfield"

In an interesting twist, Comolli has taken Tottenham’s principal overseas scout, Steve Hitchen, to Liverpool. “He’s nicked him off us,” Redknapp said. “Steve was excellent, an English boy who lives in France. We liked him a lot.”

harry has bought more experenced players because we needed them, our team was young and needed a bit of know-how. Harry has more then likely no say in U18 comming to this club, and not even a say in all young players comming to this club. For the sake of arguement he bought kranjcar, and palacios when they where on the other side of 25 as well as Sandro and the two kyles.

Don't know about leg-work, or anything, but I think Daws, included in a deal for Fat Andy Reid, was actually signed by the PleatMeister, wasn't he:shrug:

Some of our future is out there on loan and I hope they'll come back.

THIS
Why the worry.

The only players in our squad that are 30 or above are Cudicini, King, Woodgate, Gallas and Crouch. The first three are little more than bit part players. Gallas will eventually be replaced permanently with Kaboul, Bassong, Dawson, Khumalo and Caulker. While Crouch will be dropped to the bench as soon as Spurs sign that elusive super striker.

We've got a team that is capable of playing, and improving, together for the next five years before we have to start worrying about the next generation.

Although I do understand the OP's point. Since Harry has taken over, he's only been concerned with the here and now. Bringing players with vast amounts of experience as a short term fix.

Whereas with Arnesen and Comolli, we were also scouring the lower levels of English football to pick out the cream of talented youths.

I'd love to see us sign the next Dawson or Huddlestone or Lennon from the lower leagues for a relative pittance. I'd also love to see us go abroad and pluck another Assou-Ekotto for a couple of million.

Everyone loves the mega money Modric signings, but I also love to see a young player bought quite cheaply and nurtured into a player that will eventually develop into an international quality player.

We got lucky when we bought a lot of quality young talent cheap, because their producing club had been mismanaged- Lennon, Robinson and Keane from Leeds, Dawson, Jenas and Hudd from Forest (via Newcastle in Jenas' case) and Derby, Carrick and Defoe from the Spammers- all of whom became available when they were the type of players we wanted to buy, and when ENIC had put extra money in. There were players we don't mention in there- Davenport, Routledge, Reid and Davis- but it was great moneyball, in the sense of bang for our buck. But I don't see as much value in that market these days- Wickham will end up fetching 10 million plus, and Southampton aren't going to panic sell Oxlade-Chamberlain the way that Walcott and Bale were.

With that said, Walker, Sandro, and Caulker seem like three players who can actually be part of a CL quality squad.

When Harry was at West Ham he discovered Carrick, Ferdinand, Cole, Lampard so he has an eye for a young talent as he found those 4 but Harry is very much a little Englander don't think he knows much outside of England

Harry Kane, Kyle Walker, Steve Caulker, Dean Parrett and Con
or Wickham in the summer. That's nearly half a team.,
