A big part of our current success is the vast improvement of several players since Pochettino came in. Who'd have though Kane would be a top class striker, Dembele would consistently dominate the opposition or Rose and Walker would go from inconsistent and divisive to consistent and effective. That's but to name a few, but who has taken the greatest strides?

Dier without any doubt! He was good before but now he is one of the best holding mids in the league. I would put him among our indespensibles; Lloris, Toby, Kane and dier.
Lamela has come on leaps and bounds too but he had the talent and I think he just needed time.

Has to be Dembele surely. A large number of fans were happy to see him let him go last summer, now he's pretty much the first outfield name on the teamsheet.

The Dier transformation is remarkable too but he was still looking like a good CB last year.

I was really surprised that we kept Dembele. I thought due to niggling injuries he would never be the player that he has become.

Dembele for me

I said earlier in another thread he's been the best CM in the league this season for me.

Quite a turnaround when you consider some of the performances he'd put in the 18 months prior to this season, think some people forget quite how poor he was at times.

Which tbh anybody with half a football brain could see was a stupid idea

I think a few players, like Kane, Dier, Lamela etc, could be put down to natural development having a large part to play in their improvement. The player, in my opinion, that has improved the most due, almost exclusively, to the influence of Pochettino is Danny Rose. He was a much maligned player a couple of years ago with many fans suggesting he should be one of the first out the door, however he's been absolutely outstanding under Pochettino, to the point where many are now talking about him as England's best left-back.

Close between Dembele and Vertonghen for me, Verts was the incredible sulk under Sherwood and AVB and his form used to fluctuate wildly. He's become a rock under MoPo. He's been hugely important to our defensive record, though Wimmer has come in and done well since the injury. Dembele always had bags of skill, but he always seemed to flatter to deceive, now he's playing really well too. So hard to pick just one player that's improved the most. We are a team now. Finally.

Dembele, I think he could've been on his way out in the summer but he has worked hard and made himself an important member of the team. Without him we struggle. He made Yaya look stupid Sunday.

But Lamela is a close second for me, this season he has been amazing, the player I thought we were signing that summer! Workrate is incredible and has chipped in with goals and assists at last, still think he will be big for us in the next few months. Still can't believe that pass to Eriksen, it was amazing. The run too, I was thinking he needed to come on as he would run at that defence (I still don't rate Kompany, said it for a long time, I mean he is the best CB City have but I don't think he is as amazing as the media make out).

Quite true, we've been saying for years, "Oh, it's a young squad, we'll be good in 3 or 4 years..."

And it's actually happened, which is pretty rare. Even if it is "natural" development, the players still need to put the work in to reap the benefits, which can be put down to Pochettino, and his getting rid of anyone who doesn't want to work with him.

I'd go with Rose. All the others on the list, I could find redeeming features for even before Pochettino was appointed. Lamela had obvious talent, Dembele too, Kane was always intelligent, Walker was in fact an ex younger player of the year. Rose was a player I immensely disliked. He came across as disinterested, unwilling, erratic and error prone. Now he is always determined and committed, he links up with other players very well, he clearly understands his role a did suggest his actual technique has improved as he clearly boasts a far better first touch than he used to. I couldn't stand him and was shocked when we gave him a long contract, but hats off to him and the manager, he is now a very good left back.

Is there anyone in the current squad who hasn't improved under Poch?
Maybe Lloris?

But that's just because how good he was before.

Would go with Dembele.
Think he was only making a handful of squads on here at the start of the season, now one of the first in the starting 11.

Dier and Walker both there and Trippier catching up fast

Agree with this, and that is the reason I voted for Dembele. Gone from a decent CM to one of the best in the league.

Can also understand people saying this though ^

I voted for Lamela because I think there has been a big swing from where he was to where he is now and this comes from someone who still isn't convinced that he will be here long term, as much as I like him.

Dembele is the clear other choice but for me he was always good, he'd just lost his way a bit. Injuries were a big factor but his attitude was holding him back and I think Poch's man management skills have shone through more than his coaching. Dembele just needed to believe how important he is and how influential he can be and that is exactly what Poch has managed to do.
