He’s just turned 24 and is a central defender. You’re being ridiculous.

im being realistic. Nothing personal, he’s just not going to be good enough. Of course players can improve and some do but there’s always some fundamentals in there you look for. Breaking down his game what gives you any confidence to say he will be a very good CB let alone a world class one?

We have a few who are now coming towards the end of their top flight career - Toby, Jan, Vorm, Rose etc who will be looking for a final payday so I think they will go whether we want them to or not.

As for the others, will we buy improvements - so if we shift Lamela, Dele and Moura who will we get that are better?

I see a lot of people wanting Sanchez to go. I’d keep him tbh, he’s only just turned 24. In three or four years time, you could be looking at one of the worlds best. I think he will only improve.

He hasn’t over the last 3 seasons.

It shows you how good some of our players are if you just sit back and think which teams in the premiership would take them off our hands.

For example Dele. City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, would not touch him. Doesn't fit in to the way Wolves.or Leicester play. Maybe Everton at a push or if Newcastle got bought out.

Lucas Moura the big four wouldn't touch him. Wolves have better wingers. Maybe Leicester as Perez has been poor this season maybe be Everton.

Davison Sanchez. The big four wouldn't touch him. He is not better then Evans or Sonuycu. Boly is better then him and wouldn't suit playing in Wolves team as you require the ability to pass a ball five yards forward. Everton need a centre half but if they want a better defender for less money who is also crap with the ball at his feet then sign Chris Smalling.

Serge Aurier....Norwich wouldn't touch him.

Ben Davies....would be a solid left back for a mid table side....therefore should you stay with us.

Sissoko....Crystal Palace maybe?

Winks...maybe a West Ham or Bournemouth.

Toby....finished at Top Premier League level

Jan...finished full stop.

For me there is only Kane, Son, Bergwijn, Lloris and Lo Celso that would be attractive for one of the big four to purchase in this country. Just shows how backwards we have gone.

In reality if you break it down; individually based on level of ability, we are in the position that reflects the current standard of our squad as teams above us apart from Sheff Utd have just as many if not more better players then we do.

This is a good point actually. How many of our starting 11/bench would start for the other top 7 or 8 teams?

Kane would start for the majority but I really don't think many others would. Lo Celso would fit in at man c the way he plays but beyond that it is very questionable.

That is called different tactics/different roles in football and nothing else. Seriously, making combined squads is one of the most stupid things in football because of that.

And post you quoted - Aurier not good enough for Norwich is linked with Milan and Monaco, Winks is good player linked by the most reliable English source with City and United not Bmouth/West Ham

Keep at all costs:
Kane
Son
Gio
Sess
Stevie
Tanganga
Ndombele
Sissoko

the youngsters Skipp, Cirkin, Troy etc

the rest, i couldn’t care less about, but if they stay i hope we don’t have to depend on them all week in week out.

I’d actively try to sell Winks, Alli, Lucas, as I think they could command decent fees for re-investment and their prices probably aren’t going to get much higher.

fully prepared for a summer of free transfer and swaps for other clubs cast offs though.

When was the last time we sold a player and replaced them with an upgrade? Based on our recruitment of the last 5 years id say we are heading downwards fast and if its true we are on a limited budget then we will need to sign some battlers as will be in a dogfight at the bottom based on current trend. If we are to make any sort of changes the key signing without any doubt in my mind is the head of recruitment or whoever gets the deals done.
We were close to two title pushes under Harry and poch and we got:
Nelson & saha
Njie & janssen

that says everything about our Player recruitment and why we don’t win anything

Keep:

- Kane
- Son
- Lo Celso
- Bergwijn
- Ndombele
- Sessegnon

That’s literally it, for me. Everyone else we should at least listen to offers for. They can all be upgraded.

I’ve not included youth players in this list but I’d keep all of them too - Tanganga, Parrott, Skipp, Cirkin, should all be given a chance to see what they can do.

Likewise with Gedson, who is on loan with us, and Clarke, who is on loan elsewhere.
Pretty much my exact thinking. I actually think the nucleus of this squad needs to be cut out. It's not even a case of 'if we get good offers' - a good chunk of this squad actively needs to be moved on. The whole place needs shaking up.

Quite hard to say as it's important to see how Jose sets us up.

We got used to having Rose and Walker bombing up the wing so Davies appeared to not fit in. But he does fit into Jose's system.

Players I'd definitely try to sell:

Aurier: has improved but ultimately not quite good enough. Still has a reasonable reputation in France so might get a decent fee for him.
Foyth: With Sanchez and Tanganga I don't see room to integrate a 3rd young defender
Moura: I think squad players have a shelf life and last at teams 2-3 years. He's not good enough to start so time to sell while he still has value

Possible sales:

Alli: not sure where he fits into the team though I haven't given up all hope
Jan: still think he could have value for one ore season to have around the squad as long as he is happy to be a squad player.
Lamela: still have hope for him but not sure how many "1 more season's" he gets
Sissoko: good attitude and his physicality helps at times but he is too limited a player

Lo Celso, Bergwijn and Son, anyone else can go if we get correct price for them. A lot of them need a move for themselves as well, to get going again.
It's about mindset, attitude, hunger.

Kane
Bergwijn
Lo Celso
NDombele
Tanganga
Cirkin
Lloris (as 2nd keeper)
Gazza (as 3rd keeper)

Don't get the love for Davies - people saying 'keep as squad player' and 'good for rotation...' - he's one of the biggest problems and a closer analysis of the game last night shows that.

Stagnant, rotten team.

Can’t believe that at the start of the season we have both Lucas and Sissoko bumper new contracts and then did the same with Toby in January. We aren’t selling them any time soon.

Totally agree with this.

We've gone from selling all and sundry to no one.

From Toby and Verts to Sanchez and Dier. Thats a huge step down.
Walker and Rose to Aurier and Davies.
Thats a huge step down.
Eriksen and Dembele to Sissoko and Ndombele? Winks? (LoCelso may come good). Either way its a huge step down.
Apart from that we're really moving forward lol.

When you see it written down, the drop in quality is heart breaking.

Wholesale changes would be dreadful IMO. As things stand, I think we desperately need to swap to 433 and with that in mind I'd swap Dele for Dennis Zakaria (or similar) in a heartbeat. Dele has his moments of course but his inclusions undermines the stability of the setup every time. If we had 3 in CM like Lo Celso, Zakaria and Ndombele, one of GLC or TN could have plenty of licence to push forward when appropriate.
