Why not Remy on loan?

I thought this in the summer and still think now we made a massive error in not signing Remy on loan.

He was available throughout the summer, had a good season so knew the league,, we have a good relationship with qpr after loaning/selling them a number of players, and he can play anywhere across the front 3.

Strange decision for me at the time and now has more goals from open play than we have as a team.

Anyone else think we missed a trick here or does he not suit our "style of play"?

I think he's a 'counter attack' striker, better when you can play balls over the top and therefore probably wouldn't be as potent against deep defences we play against every week. Think Demba Ba at Chelsea.

If he's playing through the middle then I agree with you but he can play as a wing forward on either side and offers pace and more importantly a goal threat. Teams have no reason to be worried about our left side since Rose has been out. Chadli may be the guy for that position but that's unproven at the moment and the jury still out if he's made for this level.

I swear SC is full of schizophrenics.

During the summer half this place didn't want us to sign Benteke because he was unproven in the league after only one season, yet here we have Loic Remy who is proven. Maybe if Wilfred Bony starts banging them in regularly after his goal yesterday we might get a "we missed a trick on Bony" thread.

The truth is that we have an excellent front man who is clearly starved of service. Why then should it be any different for any other player up front? The problem here isn't our forward, Remy would stop scoring in this setup, as would many other forwards better than him.

He's on a rape charge.

That was the reason why I thought we and nobody else was going for him in the summer, not sure what's the status of that but on a loan what would there have been to lose? Will his goals get cancelled out if he gets convicted?

No respectable club wants a potentially convicted rapist playing for them. That's why only Newcastle approached him.

Must admit I mistakenly thought he was shit based on his QPR performances, but he has proven me wrong. I think there's a deal to be done in the Summer if we want him.

Well I can't speak for everyone at SC but I thought this in the summer and posted it one one of the threads, as a loan I think he would have been decent for us due to his versatility. I don't think he's a better finisher than Soldado or link man than Ade but he can play left or right as well as being an option through the middle.

Was just throwing it out there, sorry.

He was never "shit" but we set up pretty much perfectly for him to play to his strengths. It was predicted in the match thread before kick off that if we set up that way we would get done and low and behold.......

Or maybe they just thought he's innocent until proven guilty? In any case it I just checked and it looks like he's case is going to court this month. So i guess we'll see if he's still playing for them come December.

lol - we do this everytime a player scores against us. We should've bought him.

Why? On what grounds would Remy have been a good deal for the team & for the club. Remember he is one of the 17 foreign squad too. So who would you leave out of those 17 I've numbered below. And if you would, who would've bought them?

Like I said I thought this in the summer:

What we need is to have two out and out strikers and then one striker that can play upfront and also versatile enough to play as a wide forward in a 4-3-3.

What's the situation with Remy? He's one guy that I can think of that has epl experience and fits the bill. Or have qpr sold him already? Haven't been keeping up with the transfers.

And I would have taken Remy on loan over paying £7m for Chadli, just my opinion.
