There's mixing it up in game, which I think we did well with against the lesser teams I mentioned and then there's what we did against the tougher teams, if the ball doesn't stick or Kane, Moura or son are having an off day then we just invite pressure.

Needs time to implement things.

But he's getting results in the mean time.

I would love to agree with you but did you see the Man U match? Winks started but still the defence seem to want to hoof it at every opportunity and then SC decided it was still Winks's fault. IMO it can only be tactical the amount of hoof ball we're seeing. I know many of you don't particularly give a shit about the style of play, as long as we're winning, but personally this kind of football makes my eyes bleed.

Mmm, ii like winning. Bring me your salty tears.

Guy needs to get in shape, he really would put this team on another level.

it was one reason I was a little suspect of him. He ran out of puff in many of his games in France. I think the funny running style was him with a stitch in his side gasping for breath. Needs to get off the croissants and full cream butter.

All we need from him is 3 magnificent passes a game and he can go full Andy Ruiz

I still like winning, beautiful or ugly. I’ll take the 3 points ?
There is a difference when you win with style it certainly brings a confidence for the next one.
I remember the win in the Semifinal of the CL last year. It didnt bring too much confidence to the masses. It was more about hope than belief...same with the team itself

We won the match and Dier got MOTM. Really don't understand the point how Winks can be better than Dier as a pivot with our current squad. Watch back the games with Winks/Sissoko partnership and see how invisible our shield in front of the defence was.

Stability and consistent wins are two thing we have been crying out loud for during Poch's reign.

We got them both now. All, in just a month of Jose's time.

A pivot isn't the same as a shield.

Winks is a perfectly good Pivot. Dier is an effective destroyer, and can (sort of) act as a Pivot as well. We used to do this very very well, when Dier would drop into a back 3 as a sweeper when the full backs bombed on, then go back to his DM role alongside Dembele.

The Traore narrative is strange from the highlights I’ve watched. The extended sky highlights made it look like Lucas was more dangerous and fouled more. One challenge on him in the second half should have been a red card. He got kicked right on his thigh pretty high up. It looked a dangerous challenge. Lucas looked really tricky too.

He always looks scarier than he is. He'll always skin people one v one, and he got past Vertonghen on the outside a few times and put some lofted crosses in, but we dealt with them easily. As you'd expect a somewhat competent defence to do. The times he completed dribbles in transitional phases where our team balance was off, we just took him out.

Hmmm...I support spurs, it’s about “winning with style” as someone once said....

Pep wouldn't win with style with this lot, think we need to give him more than 6 games and 0 transfer windows before judging the style of play personally, but that's just me.

I don't agree. In fact we had a couple of wins 'with style' under Poch this season alone.

No where did I say our style wouldn't develop. I'm simply providing comment on what I see in front of my eyes. And it's not pretty at all.

Sorry but Pep isn't getting anything out of Dier and Sissoko in midfield in terms of pretty possession football, that's our reality at the moment, Poch couldn't do it and Jose isn't even bothering.

Which matches in particular?

You didn't but you're making an early judgement in his football after a month which is pretty pointless unless you're stating it because you have an agenda.

Thought we were pretty good when we smashed Palace 4-0 earlier this season - some beautiful team goals in that match.

Jose has Winks and Lo Celso sitting on the bench so he does have options if he actually wants to play football rather than just get the centre backs and goalkeeper to hoof it up field constantly.

Why is it pointless to comment about that I don't like the team's style of play at the moment? Why are we all on this forum? Surely it's to discuss the team we support? I'm not enjoying the way we are playing. It's that simple.

Yeah we were good against Palace, not sure I noticed a discernable difference in the way we played though, if anything in that match it mirrored the Burnley performance, got the ball forward quicker to the forwards and pressed relitavely high up the pitch.

Didn't Winks play against Man Utd though? And didn't we resort to playing the same way so I'm not sure he would make much of a difference and after last Wednesday I don't know if we can trust Lo Celso at the moment. I think though if Ndombele is fit he plays and we play better football as he's press resistant and a quick release player but he's not so I'm not sure what you can expect really.

The point is we are where we are, our midfield is average at the moment and we need to win matches, you can't really expect us to win with style with the situation as it is in the middle of the park and the fact that we needed to build up confidence. We need wins, we are getting them, let's worry about the style of football this time next year.
