I honestly think it’s looking more & more likely we won’t sign a striker this summer, we always find it so difficult & now we have another attacker.

Football culture has shifted massively this decade. It's now completely acceptable and widespread practice to agree terms with a player before sitting down with his club.

Interesting.

i actually think after the last two prem games, a strong & quick cb should be priority over a forward. dier isnt one, toby is declining rapidly like jan did, and we can't seem to get japh on the pitch.

I mean it is pointless to spend time and deal with a club about a transfer if you then find out the player is not even interested or has completely different ideas of his salary and role in the team.

They should both be a priority - they were clearly positions earmarked going into the window and the fact neither have been addressed is symptomatic of Spurs under numerous mangers.

I have no issue being dazzled with Bale and Regulion but people have lost sight of the fact we're still sans striker heading into this run of games. I wouldn't mind but every one was screaming for a back up striker during the winter window but now it's okay to wait until the end of the summer one to purchase one?

People will be moaning about central mid if they continue to play like they did yesterday in spells. It's brewing.

I think the problem is we just had so many positions that needed addressing.

To be fair to Levy this window so far he has bought in a right back and combative midfield, which were needed.

There has also been a need for a quality new left back so Reguilòn was a good deal and Bale is the kind of world class signing that lifts a club.

We still need a centre forward urgently, a centre back and another engine room midfielder quite badly too.

And then in future hopefully continue to tweak the squad in summer windows so we aren’t so lacking in positions in future (I’m being extremely optimistic there though as usually we leave things until we desperately need a player!).

Multiple deals can be worked on - back up striker is a big deal - yet not addressed, I can acknowledge the work done on signings and be critical at the same time, so can other people, there isn't an excuse for me.

We could just ignore this article...

The WW part conflicts what we have recently been told about this player but happy with the Lingard news. As Trix/Herc mentioned yesterday im sure theres an element of truth behind all this ITK so who knows where we're at?!

This is a fairly extreme take if I'm honest, with little knowledge of what is actually going on behind the scenes. (Not saying I have any more knowledge of course).

We have signed quite a few players and the ITK suggests we're not done yet.

If you feel that Bale and Reguilon are distractions, then I think that's a fairly short termist view. Appreciate we have a run of games coming up now, but the "painful rebuild" was always going to be an "up to the deadline day" project. Thinking otherwise, given market constraints and conditions, is not reasonable in my opinion.

There is a fairly easy and plausible excuse isn't there ? If we have managed to sign 4 definite first XI players already, then clearly it shows that we can and will buy the right players quickly, if circumstances allow. So presumably the right circumstances haven't occurred yet on the striker or central defender???

It's a point of view, but it's not like that hasn't been a pressing need for us after the injuries to key players and how badly we struggled for the majority of time both Kane & Son were out.

This place and others were awash with cries of 'sign a back up striker' all the way to deadline day of the winter window but we're now faced with the same situation only it's the summer window. This coincides with us in yet another log jam of fixtures. I think I have every right to be disconcerted. If you want to be happy to accept that's fine, but we're wanting to compete with the best teams in the league. If you want to do that you provide the manager your paying top dollar for with the pieces to do the best job to his ability on all fronts.

I'd say the performances thus far have indicated some of the obvious the holes in the squad - you'd have thought you would have prioritized those sooner rather than later.

I fully understand where you are coming from, and yeah, ideally getting Bale back need not have come before addressing other issues - but the important word there is 'ideally'. Given that we have been pretty proactive and haven't waited to get players out before we have bought, then i really do think you are being harsh - it'd be fair comment in plenty of other windows but this one seems much better...if not quite perfect yet.

My expectations and others are going to be different. If mine come across as unreasonable it'd be a first on here. I hope that come the end of the window the club have achieved everything they were hoping to.

I will have to wind it in I suppose as it feels that my expectations are too high.
