I can't speak for anyone else, but I tend to get annoyed but by hot takes which are:

1) Demonstrably false (no caps for Netherlands)
2) Illogical (he's not Jansen mk II if he's been scoring goals in a very strong league)
3) Followed up a laughable grab for credibility after people called you out on points 1 and 2

I know it was a poor game but he looked lumbering and cumbersome
I also know I shouldn't judge a player on one game but I'm a fickle bastard and I have.
So with that in mind my apologies to @Stoof I'm out.

Got to say that i watched him for the first time yesterday and felt the same, looked to have the mobility of an oil tanker. Hopefully it was just a bad game to watch him in, and if he is 'the one' then i'll be fully behind him. Just seemed weird how so many posters seemed really pleased he was linked, yet a player like Ings didn't get the same love !

And you've made a pre judged comment. I've seen him play live maybe 15-20 times in the last 2 years and what I've seen is not impressive. In those games ive seen he's also scored around 10 goals but his overall game in my opinion is poor. What do you base your judgement on the fact he's good?

1) Hes played 47 minutes in total for Netherlands. At the age of 28 theres a reason for that.
2) I didn't compare his goalscoring to Janssen, more his style of play.
3) People called me out on points 1 & 2 and then never backed up their opinion to challenge me against why hes not the type of player I've said he is.

Quite strange how it's been denied here but the Dutch media are going as far as to say it's likely to happen.

The Dutch sources who are reporting this are very very reliable.

So either we are pursuing the deal but ensuring it's kept quiet from our end so that it's not made to look like a bluff but at the same time ensuring we have a fall back if Benfica don't relent.
