Leicester got 2 deals over the line for Pereira and Silva that we couldn't manage, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got Tielemans as well.

Yeah we really missed out on Silva didn't we. What a player he's turned out to be.

Sometimes it is just papertalk. Do people grasp that not everyone we are linked with we are actually after right?

It's not that simple though. If Tielesmans comes and doesn't adapt then we are stuck with another player taking up an important squad place that we have to get rid of before bringing anyone in next summer etc...

Poch absolutely shouldn't just sign a player for the sake of it if he doesn't believe that player can perform to the level he expects.

I think they're different players, but I agree that Winks has PL experience and time with the squad. However, Tielmans is a year younger and has a very high ceiling.

The reality is that right now, our midfield is Winks, Dier and Sissoko. Dembele is gone, and Wanyama is chronically injured (and really rusty if his cameo Sunday was anything to go by).

We simply need more bodies.

I think there was a fair bit of ITK linking us with Silva.

I think there was a fair bit of ITK linking us with Silva.

Even if we were looking at him, we clearly opted against it and clearly the club were right not to go for him with how his spell at Leicester has turned out.

More often than not a player we have been linked with who hasn't signed and has moved to another club hasn't exactly set the world on fire so does that make the club right or wrong not to move for them?

Berahino, Malcom, Adrien Silva there's a fair few we could have done a fortune on that have flopped since we were rumoured to be in for them

Can talk about them being flops as an excuse but you don't know they would of been a flop here.

If true, I'm surprised Poch hasn't looked at Tielemans and thought he could get a lot out of him. When you consider what he's done with Sissoko he could turn this kid into one of the top CMs in Europe.

I don't understand. If we want him why didn't we buy him when he left Anderlecht?

Every signing is a risk, it's a balancing act.

Yes, he could well flop. But the alternative scenarios are sign a world class player, which we have been led to believe is not possible, or sign nobody with the squad looking as thin as ever.

Unless the academy can fill every single gap, doing nothing is just standing still.

Him and his entourage didn't want to join us at the time, due to the amount of competition we had. They said they wanted a club where he could play a lot of games & get the best development. They didn't believe they were ready for the PL

Of course. And that is Poch’s decision to make. If he doesn’t see the player as a risk worth taking then that’s on him.

When you look at the various links this window, including this link, how many of those players do people think are actually good enough to play for Spurs? Whether it be as a view to becoming a top player to players who could improve the overall of the squad?

(This is an actual question directed at all/any rather than an angle for an argument on the transfer side of things)

I find it hard to believe Tielemans couldnt at least give Skipp a run for a spot in the team. Ive got nothing against Skipp but thats where we are at.

Well rabiot and Werner would definitely improve the squad, tielemanns maybe maybe not. He is a young player who impressed and club and country level and I’m sure poch would bring the best out of him .

Good enough to play for spurs! Is a question that does anyone really know? Many will say players like trippier, Davies , winks, etc... are not good enough, but yet play week in week out. It’s a topic that could go into the next bloody transfer window

Dembele, Dier, Wanyama, and Winks were all healthy and performing well when he left for Monaco. Was a relatively more stable situation when he first moved.
