Does Zaha count as home grown? Grew up here but plays for Ivory Coast? Not sure how that works.

just fail to see the benefit given the price it'll cost. surely there are better options for less cash? for 50-70m you're talking almost world-class level, he's good but he's not that. would give us a different option but so would lots of others. we all know though that poch has had him on his radar for years tho....

I'm convinced he'd thrive in a better team. Can't see us paying what it'd take to get him from Palace though.

Would love this signing. In my opinion we really need a powerful explosive forward player. The missing player imo.
Priorities though. I don't think one midfield signing is enough personally. With Clarke coming in there's plenty of attacking options now and there's no chance we're gonna get him for under £50m. It's going to be difficult finding game time for all these attacking players.

Kane, Son, Lucas, Alli, Lamela, Clarke, Zaha is overkill imo, and that's assuming Eriksen plays deeper. Especially considering the calibre of most of those players. They're going to want to play every week.

He does. Nationality is irrelevent, you roughly need to have played in the country for three years before the age of 21. Hence the Algerian Bentaleb was homegrown, but Dier was foreign despite captaining England.

Whilst I've always been for his signing, a front line of Zaha, Kane, Son, Lucas, Clarke, Alli with Lamela and Eriksen a little deeper could be a little top heavy when you look at our midfield options.

Dier, Sissoko, Winks, Wanyama?? and Ndombele.

Maybe I'm wrong to think this and it's better to have loads of potential goalscorers. I guess I just felt more investment in midfield would give us more strength.

Unless of course JJs ITK from a few weeks back means someone unexpected will leave.

I get your point, and yes another midfield signing would be ideal (along with an RB of course), but if we can afford to keep a set of attackers like that, then why shouldn't we? If we want to go for titles, we need even strength in depth and goals.

That's life in a big club though. That's still 8 players for 3-4 positions, hardly overkill. I'd imagine if Zaha/Bale came in we'd not replace Llorente.

Clarke is unlikely to expect to walk into the team straight away. Lamela is often injured. Kane seems to have the 1-2 spells out a season. It's not crazy depth.

I do think the Lo Celso route is preferable, but I'd certainly not turn my nose up at adding a top drawer attacker like Zaha or Bale either. We need to bridge that scoring gap to City and Pool.

ITK also seem pretty confident on Sessegnon who'd be another option. I'd rather focus on LoCelso. We've been up the garden path way too often on Zaha for my liking.

would love this to happen. Can play wide, off Kane and instead of him- particularly on the break away from home. Could mean the end of Moura though, with his stock high Levy might accept a nice margin on the 25m we paid? Or more likely would take Fernando's squad place I suppose, who I'm open to keeping for another season.

My priority remains competition for Eriksen. If we can't afford GLC, I'd still go Tielemans who can pass and score. Punt Erik and Victor off...

My take on this is how many wingers do we need? If we get Zaha, then that'll be 3 this window alongside Sessegnon (noted he could also play LB but not yet imo) and Clarke. None of those are outstanding players (yet) and it'll be a fair amount of money for the lot of them (50 for Zaha?, 20+ for the sessegnon twins?, 8-15 for Clarke given bonuses. Why not spend that on one amazing winger like pepe if we're that desperate? Or we could probably get ziyech or neves for half that price. Remember that we already have son and Lucas, plus Lamela. I just think we could spend our somewhat limited resources a bit more wisely than by spunking up to 80m on three wingers. I'm actually happy with the three young blokes coming into the club, I just don't see the necessity of Zaha at this point in time given the other holes and transfers

Agree with that. Now we have NDombele (it looks like) the next move is regarding Eriksen and if we leaves we would need another player. A Maddison or Grea;ish would have done the trick. Lo Celso the jurys out. Zaha is very talented cant see him in Eriksens spot

If they want 60-70 for AWB, what are they gonna demand for Zaha? I don't see anyway we could afford it, even if Levy wanted to do it.

Think Zaha's contract is until 2023, so whatever the fuck they want.

They won't necessarily get it.

I don't see Palace selling AWB and Zaha in the same window.

They'll be asking for relegation. I still think GLC is more likely to happen than this one.

ornstein just tweeted that the awb deal is done for £50m with united RETAINING zaha's 25% clause. That'll be the end of that then, there's no way we're paying 70m+ for him.
