Before going to tribunal, clubs negotiate to try and strike a deal which is in the interests of both parties as no-one can be quite sure what the tribunal will decide. The word is that United demanded the £6m in these negotiations and that they weren't going to move from this at tribunal, where the panel hear the cases of both clubs re: the amount of money that should change hands and rule accordingly. The other side being Fergie and United, I don't think we fancied our chances of paying much less than the £6m figure they were after.I don't understand the £6m figure - I thought that was what we'd need to pay in compensation, as decided by tribunal - not what Man Utd were asking. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.
But either way, we've done nothing wrong. Buying him for £6m was never going to happen, no one was going to be paying that for him. If it was the case that he could not sign another contract with an english club without them having to pay £6m in compensation, then that's clearly wrong and he wasn't going to be signing for anyone.
Yep. He rigged the game so DL simply didn't play. Before going to tribunal, clubs negotiate to try and strike a deal which is in the interests of both parties as no-one can be quite sure what the tribunal will decide. He's fucked himself over here really. That's what is eating him up inside.
The Manc clubs have got that message I think. They prefer to head South of the river these days.its brillant all the same though, I hope this snowballs and there is real bad blood between the two Clubs - long gone the days we roll over and let them cherry pick our best players, Ferguson has just made sure of that...
Fergie has spoken. (Sounds a little bit bitter )

I think you're on to something there! I wonder how long it will be before the United owners begin to be suspicious...maybe when he puts Rio in goal and decides to replace the substitutes bench with a shrubbery?
"Tottenham have defended the deal they agreed with Fryers and a club spokesman said: "Zeki Fryers was out of contract in the summer. We had looked in to the possibility of signing the player but were unable to agree a deal on the terms Manchester Unitedwere asking.
"Zeki chose to go to Standard Liege, who paid compensation to Manchester United. Zeki enjoyed his time at Standard. However, when Standard sacked their manager in November, Zeki wasn't part of the new manager's plans, which he accepts and understands happens in football.
"Unfortunately, a combination of this, and the fact that he had become homesick meant he wanted to return to England and his representatives made contact with clubs in England.
"This afforded us a second opportunity to sign the player and as per FIFA's solidarity contribution mechanism, Manchester United will receive five per cent of the transfer fee we have paid."
Hopefully DL will send his riposte through saying that we will happily comply with any investigation, right after the FA complete their detailed investigation into the Berbatov debacle.
They need to get a picture of SAF, right after he is informed of our response, so that we can see the big hand print on his cheek!
In order to put thangs into perspective, I such anyone who takes Fergie's bitter we can feck you but you can't feck us rant remotely seriously, should spend half an hour researching just exactly how Beetroot Head got David Beckham to Old Trafford (okay, it was only the Spammers he fecked, but he still fecked someone)
I thought so alsoI thought Beckham was on our books before going to Utd?
I like the clubs response to the issue.
