Gomes 7 Confident and composed. One great 1st half save, one 2nd half weak punch
Hutton 6 Great attacking, still looking weak when defending or needing composure
King 7 An awful lot of composure, and sheer class at times
Bassong 6 Looked weak at times, but good in possession when called upon
BAE 7 Strong, determined, and looked in harness with Bale
Hudd 6 Dreadful 1st half, a much better 2nd half when the laser passing activated
Modric 6 Always a presence, should have done better with his chance, but strong passing
Bale 7 Ignored VDV too often in favour of a Crouch ball, but so dangerous with pace, power and crossing, and then finished like a pro
VDV 7 MOM spoiled by over-enthusiasm leading to a red. So hungry, able and willing it's untrue
Pav 6 The player who did nothing, found something and made it everything
Crouch 6 Always a menace which didn't easily translate into chances

Keane 6 Willing and able
Jenas 6 Not very visible but stable
Lennon Too late to rate

Gomes 7 Did well I thought, really glad he is back
Hutton 6 Not bad
King 7 Solid
Bassong 7 Solid
BAE 7 Solid
Hudd 6 Wasnt good in the first half and some way redeemed himself in second half
Modric 7 I thought Modric did well tonight, nothing flashy but a good disciplined performance.
Bale 8 I thought he was a constant threat and made their fullback look like a novice a few times
VDV 8 MOM Would have been a 9/10 performance if he hadnt got himself sent off, one of the most impressive individual performances Ive seen in a while
Pav 7 Was anonomous for most of the game, scored 2 vital penalties and was playing very well by the end I felt
Crouch 6 Not his best game I felt, he is frustrating sometimes and I feel he lacks a bit of aggression in the air.

Think VDV could have had the highest rating of the year if not for the sending off.

Gomes 7 Great save in the first half.
Hutton 6 Decent going forward.
King 7 Solid.
Bassong 7 Solid.
BAE 7 Solid. Gets an extra mark for that outrageous ball to VdV in the first half.
VdV 6.5 had an awesome 60 mins and was bang up for it, but fucking stupid challenge to get 2nd yellow.
Huddlestone 7 shite first half, very good second.
Modric 7 I love the way he played the game today, noticed how we didn't control possession when he went off.
Bale 7 poor first half when he constantly made wrong decision to try and find Crouch, much, much better in the second.
Crouch 6 good knock down for VdV but doesn't connect with Pavlyuchenko at all.
Pavlyuchenko 6.5 good decision by Harry to bring him on at half time...

Subs

Keane, Jenas and Lennon all showed energy and had a decent impact.

I take it you nipped for a piss when Gomes rolled the ball out to him and he passed it straight to one of there players??

As for being brilliant, well he didnt do anything??

Gomes 7, he's quality. he makes the saves others don't
Hutton - 6 - good but not great, great will in attack, but lacking realism
Bassong - 6 - when playing with King, he looks fine. Especially enjoyed his forward thrust complete with Ronaldo-style stepovers
King - 7 - also got into the attack, without losing any defensive qualities
BAE -7 - almost always feel safe with him back there
VdV - 7 - would be higher if not for the sending off. After he missed the pen I told the wife it's sure he's going to score or make a goal, he looked furious. Like someone else said, not a typical spurs player, someone who will win
Modric - 7 - got into the game not quite as much as he can, had one great combination with vdv which leads one to imagine that they can become our inesta & xavi
hudd - 6 - more involved than he's been latelyl But, now I cringe every time he hits one of those cute little chipped passes
Bale - 7 - a constant threat, what an ace
Crouch - 6 - trying, trying, but our game gets so heavy when he's on
Pav - 8 - he did do something tonight, and not just the pens (by the way he is the ultimate pen specialist, I'd say, like the goal kicker in American football, very cool for that even if it seems he hates to run) But actually I noticed that he covered an above average amount of terrain tonight

Harry - 7 - was vindicated to play 2 strikers tonight by our complete dominance of the mf with only 4. Just a pity we haven't got 2 strikers that need playing

I thought Pavlyuchenko was really bloody good second half. Not just for the penalties. I've been critical of him lately but he really put himself about, showed for the ball, and actually showed a bit of strength. This is why he's so infuriating, because when his tail is up he's great.

thought Pav was poor all game bar the penalty's...
Cant hold up a ball at all, and can only remeber him getting through a crowd of defenders to give Modric the chance to score. Gave the midfield prity much no options

Gomes - 7 great save when they got through, cant fault him for the goal but some weak punching (great to have him back)
BAE - 8 great from BAE Again
King - 8 We've got King at the back
Bassong - 7 a couple of mistakes, but coped well
Hutton - 8 still gets caught out of position at times but was a threat

Bale 9 fantatsic
Hudd - 8 though he and Modric controlled CM well
Modric - 7 same as Hudd
VdV - 8 was running the show with Bale before the sending off

Crouch - 5 Held the ball up better than Pav, and got players involved after bringing it down but still not great.
Pav - 4. 2 pens, but was poor. Cant hold the ball up at all.

Jenas - 7 keeped the ball, just what we needed.

Gomes 6 Great first half save but very shaky clearance in second
Hutton 6 threatening going foward but ominous going the other way
Bassong 6 great run in the first half, assured for the most part
King 7 oozes class and composure - makes us look a different team
Ekotto 7 busy and productive, continues to impress with Bale
Hudd 6 Very sloppy first half, but improved significantly in the second
Modric 6 Not the most influential display, but tidy enough - nice touches
VDV 8 MOM, a class above - quality in abundance- pops all over the place
Bale 8, great performance, insane stamina levels and a fantastic goal
Pav 6, great pens, thought his touch and hold up play improved after pens
Crouch 5 good knock down for VDV, but not his best night really

think you (Chrissivad) need to go back and watch the 2nd half, especially after Crouch went off. Pav was quality running the channels and finding our players... also his shot "won" the penalty.

i thought he was poor first half but 2nd quality. Touch was sound as well

Totally agree with that...after the pens, his hold up play, touch and decision making improved significantly.

Thought it was a good decision of Harry to switch the sub from Pav to Crouch after we went down to 10, hopefully he can go on a run like last season now...

It wasn't really that much of a run last season, which is the problem. None of our strikers is Mr Consistency, but he's the most frustrating by far.

In terms of all round play, it has to be up there. And that's coming from a Pavlyuchenko fan. He's been disappointing in his last few games, but he showed what he's capable of when he's up for it.

Pav was excellent second half. He was absolutely shit in the first, but as soon as he scored the first penalty he improved dramatically.

Bale was absolutely awesome. I'd love know how far he ran tonight. They showed a stat when Modders went off (I think it was Modders, could have been Pav) and he'd run 1km more than the team average. Bale is just a monster and a machine.

Hudd was shit first half, immense second half though. Lucky to be on the pitch too I thought, and could be in trouble with UEFA for the arm into that blokes face.

King and Bassong were both excellent, as were Hutton and Benny. Unfortunate to concede, the ball just seemed to fall for Twente at the time.

VanTheMan, loved every minute he was on the pitch, although something told me he was going to be sent off. He really is a top player, and its not just fancy flicks and skills, he puts himself about really well and gets back and defends. Was unlucky not to have more than one goal tonight.
