looks like i'm the only one who found this letter good then
I didnt think it was as bad and as pointless as some people are suggesting

I agree with the sentiment of the letter too, and the principle that UEFA and Platini have a obligation to clamp down on blatant thuggery. I applaud the fact that the writer has taken the time and effort to complain.
SP, would you be so apathetic if we lost Modric Bale or VdV to such thuggery for the rest of the season? ......or perhaps its just a Corluka for a month thing.
Wouldn't it have been easier for the writer to have sent a little bottle of his fresh tears?
We've seen equally nasty stuff ignored after the event, using this exact same excuse, quite a few times before and it always ends up fading into a pub memory, "you remember that game again Milan, Flamini biting off one of Corluka's legs, Gattuso put on that Godzilla outfit and stomped on Tokyo until Joe Jordan dressed as Mothma and made him look like a tramp in front of millions?".
Give it a month, we'll be in the last 8, they won't, Corluka will be fit again and no-one will remember enough of the details to care about that tackle.
Flamini will get his at WHL.
The author of said letter does not seem to grasp what is and what is not important in this world of ours.
I'm not sure whether it's wise to open this debate, but what eunuchs aren't virginal?

Just because you're a Eunuch NOW it doesn't mean you were ALWAYS one - you could've tried it out a few times, decided you weren't a fan of having a penis and just... well, i guess you just sort of "off it". :shrug:I'm not sure whether it's wise to open this debate, but what eunuchs aren't virginal?

I'd probably go with the old guillotines they had in school art classes - big bastards on a hinge. That'd do a solid job, right? Have to hope the school nurse is feeling adventurous though if you pass out from blood loss
Seriously? A long letter because of a two-footed lunge?
It was a bad tackle but lets not go OTT. The referee saw it and booked him, wrongly. UEFA are right you can't go back over every decision and re-referee games.
In soccer any act with an intent to injure another player should be punished, and a two-footed lunge that can easily end a player's carrier is such an act and it should not have a place in the game.
Flamini should not be allowed to play until Corluka fully recovers and he and his club should pay for all the medical expenses.
People can't just wreck other people's cars and walk away. Same thing here.
No one is saying Flamini's tackle was rihgt or acceptable.
The letter writer is asking for drastic action for this incident to be taken. This incident was no worse than many tackles and he is wrong that UEFA should review the decision and re-referee the game.
I hate two footed tackles, they are pure cowardice.
I loved watching the likes of Paolo Maldini defending. His reading of the game, the timing of his tackle and the execution was sublime.
I'd like to see these kind of tackles punished more severely but it needs to be widespread.
Making out that Flamini's tackle was a case for special attention is off the mark.
Even though he cheered to the crowd after? :-|
a) The tackle was a disgrace
b) The celebration of the tackle was a disgrace.
This shouldn't be so easily dismissed.
I can't say i've ever seen a player celebrate such a tackle

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments re Flamini, and all reckless tackling that is killing skill, flair and football. But I also wish with all my fibre that the authorities would stop treating the pantomime stuff like Gattuso more seriously than the diabolical risk to players careers and football as a whole of things like what Flamini did.
We should start to prioritise serious and reckless foul play and stop treating the odd hand bags incident like they are more important.
It is ridiculous that Flamini would have more likely to get sent off for slapping Corluka than breaking his leg.
I watched the Arse v Newc game and that was a typical example. The tackle by Barton could have broke Diaby's leg, but Diaby gets sent off for pushing Barton. It's a fucking joke.
It actively discourages flair and skill and the art of tackling. And I'm not just talking about blatant stuff. Teams like Newcastle, Blackburn, Bolton have for years been given leeway to leave a foot in every tackle without punishment. And players like Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney are allowed to kick fuck out of people because the play for ManU.
We need a whole new approach to foul play, including sin bins and totting.
I'm....... living up to my user name and so can't get past the first word before running out of energy or heading off to the corner shop for nibbles
