Its amazing if Freidel is shit because of his last season, and Gomes is better despite a season of letting the ball trickle through his body/legs and number of times, mad rushes out of goal conceding penalties, and general calamity keeping of the highest level. I didn't see much of that from Friedel on MOTD.

The ageism on this forum is quite startling, he is still a very good keeper, wouldn't be my choice to replace Gomes, but on free transfer I can see the logic. Friedel was a very good goalkeeper, but has been declining badly over the past 2 seasons. Villa fans won't be sad to see him move on.

Gomes is currently 10 times the keeper Friedel is, and Cudicini looks much sharper too. Friedel will just be a big wage 3rd GK.

Anything on a website or in the papers is no different to ITK as far as I'm concerned.

That is funny because I work with a couple of Villa fans and they have said nothing of the sort when we chatted about him.

Think so - guessing like most here he wouldn't be the first name out the door but perhaps a necessary start to the sales process. If we end up with Wilson out and Parker/Diarra in I'll be happy (although I know some will disagree on the Parker bit!)

If Wilson goes we'll need to replace him. We can't rely on Sandro to play the defensive role all season and neither Hudd, Modric or Jenas are able to cover that role effectively.

Signing Friedel doesn't mean that we won't sign another keeper as it looks like both Gomes and Stipey will be off soon. I can't help thinking that we've got our eye on someone who might take a while to adapt to our league - either a youngster, or someone from another continent.

My concern with Parker is that Harry will try and play him consistently ahead of Sandro, who has been our best player in the last couple of months.

But if the two get rotated, and maybe play together in some of our tougher games, I think that's a very good defensive midfield pairing.

I don't buy this harry has favs crap. All our strikers have rotated very offen this season and no one is nailed on a place without merit. Parker might start with Modric (although I doubt it) but if Sandro does well in training and plays well he will find himself first choice. Same goes for Hudd. Parker will be a great option and will offer something very different.

tbf hasn't the young belguim goalkeeper been linked to us. It could be him we are looking at :shrug:
