Whatever happened to doing our business early? That's gone out of the window. What happened to bringing in quality players? So far we look like managing 2 kids and an old man.

12 months ago we were all on cloud 9, looking forward to the champs league and signing some world class players .... 12 months later, everything appears to be going wrong :(

We're only 13 days into the european transfer window and the Copa America is still on. The time to despair hasn't really come yet. I believe we'll see a big signing when Harry comes down to SA (I believe that's why he's leaving late).

I think he's coming late because of his court case.

No more eastern Europeans. Modric and Berbatov have been prats. Rebrov, Pavs and Asimovic were bad buys. Let's just find a better region

We have no chance in getting the likes of Sneijder or Aguero. Which is why we can't let a player like Modric go. We rarely sign players when they're already world class. We usually have to sign them before they turn world class. Just like Berbatov, Bale and Modric. I think VDV really was a one off and I dont think we have much chance getting another anytime soon. Once in a blue moon.

I hope we straight up reject the transfer request. I just cant see any realistic hope of replacing Modric. Especially when you consider how long it is taking to replace Berbatov.

His natural replacement is an Argentine who has just helped his side finish 3rd in La Liga - and to top of it off, Ever Banega is available for just £8.1m.

What's more, if Modric leaves for the £35m that has been talked about, we'd have enough change to bring in Aleksandr Anyukov (£4m), Jordi Alba (£4.4m), Per Mertesacker (£7m) & Papiss Cissé (£11.5m).

Make up your own minds, people.

I hope all the guff coming from Daniel is delaying tactics while we line up a Marin or a Benayouen from somewhere.

I did hear from someone on Talk Sport though, that the hottest positional player in demand right now is the Modric, Schneider, Ozil type.

Redknapp not flying out until Sunday, anyone know why?

 He's a villain

People are obsessed with goal per game ratios!!

Crazy, ain't it.
Folks have got it into their heads that they would like to replace some strikers who can't score with some who can :duh:

I thinks its pretty obvious that those bids were just posturing to make it look like we were ambitious. Maybe they knew modric wanted to leave then and thought by smacking in some mega bids which they knew wouldn't get accepted would be enough. If levy was serious about signing those players for that sort of money where is the follow up offer??

I don't think it's obvious at all.
In fact, I think it is pretty crazy.
Daniel Levy stated, when he took the reins, that he wanted to make THFC cmpetitive at the very top of the game again, and unveil signings like those of yore (quoted Ardiles and Villa, which I remember). He has invested heavily in innovative programmes and squad building to achieve this. Now, when we are on the cusp of achieving it, to imagine he would rather not, but just pull stunts to make it look like he is trying to, it defies logic.
He has been on a steep learning curve. Since sacking Comolli, he has taken on a lot of the transfer negotiation duties hitherto undertaken by the DOF. I honestly believe he just underestimated how difficult it is to attract a genuine World Class striker. It makes sense, and doesn't require an illogical conspiracy theory.

I'm excited about this Coulibaly signing. Along with Ceballos and the other two forwards. It shows that we're still planning for the longer term picture and hopefully one of these young talents we bring in will develop into a key part of the first team in a couple of years.

But, Leg, they ain't over 30 Redknapp Old Boy's...SC will go into meltdown at such an unprecedented move:hump:

Or maybe they will turn out to be great. We can only hope to turn around our dismal academy. So quit bitching about us trying to build for the future. You'll get your OAP prem players soon the fuck enough.

DP reacts with rage when another poster tries to trump him in the pessimism stakes:grin:

Im expecting bigger than the kids

If only we could correct Obscene Whinger into having the same attitude

It is not about replacing a player, it is about the status and prestige of the club and the credibility of the Chaorman - it is deeply symbolic. He cannot be sold this Summer, period.

And to be fair, you don't have to "replace" Modric. He might not be replaceable. But I will disagree with one thing SP, a new CM needs to be found as a starter. I can't imagine Modric is going to give us 100%, especially when he's being treated like the offspring of Hitler and bin Laden by most fans. And we should be looking for someone else now that the shit has hit the fan.

But if a new CM is needed, we can look for a good player that shifts the dynamic a little. We don't need to find a little hook-nosed twat that distributes from deep. We can build a new system with out the banword.
