Benny's not home grown and is still prone to the odd mistake and that would be good money for him, he's good, but he's not irreplacable and the whole 'football is just a job' mentality doesn't fill me with gusto as with someone who'd die for a white shirt and completely loves the game. Tidy profit and all.

Although I don't think BAE is the best LB in the world, I would not sell him for 13.5 million as it could cost more than that to find a better replacement unless people are advocating playing Rose there with Bale as cover

This interest in BAE by PSG was first mooted during the first week back at pre-season.

SSN interviewed Benny about this outside the Lodge. He said he wanted to stay at Spurs and saw no point in changing teams for changes sake when he was happy and had a good relationship with the chairman.

IMO he is the best LB we have had for some time. I know h is prone to the odd gaffe - but tbh who isn't.

People want to sell BAE? After all the shite I read from so many people about the disloyalty of Modric. Now the one true loyal player, who indeed is one of the best left back in the BPL, who has publicly say he wants to stay at Spurs, and people want to sell him?
Is it about the money? We have so many positions to strength and has not done so yet, and people want to sell our great left back so we can waste more time, that should be use to strengthen other positions, to look for another bloody left back to replace the one we sold for no bloody reason?
The shite I read everyday.

One true loyal player who says football is just a job, you think if Chelsea came in for him and offered him triple his wage he'd not be off like a fucking rocket? Get real.

Wasn't this 'loyal' phrase bandied round about Modric pre-summer?

Players are only loyal to themselves and that's the harsh reality of it all.

Didn't Benny once say he'd love to spend the rest of his career at Spurs?? I for one would be happy to let that happen, plus I think we'd be hard pushed to get anyone as good as him for 13.5m

I get the impression that BAE is loyal only to some kick ass Thai stick and his volcano vaporizer

The only decent LBs in the PL are Cole, Baines, Evra and Benoit.

He's probably not worth 13.5 mill but I wouldn't sell him anyway.

Selling BAE would only create a problem where one doesn't exist. People talk about upgrading, we are having a tough enough time doing that for the positions we are weak in.

I think Benny is solid and would be sad to see him go.

Well if you are so realistic in your views of things, then you should not even have any ill feelings towards Modric. Or else you are just being a hypocrite.
I am not an idealistic idiot, but I find some people's perspectives of things extremely appalling.

I get the feeling if a club came in for Benny, he'd sign but then probably still turn up for training and matches for us anyway as he couldn't be fucked to learn how to get to his new team.

Win-win.

£13.5 million for BAE is a joke.

Benny is one of the best, if not the best, LBs in the Prem and quite possibly Europe. Yes he makes one or two high profile errors now and again, but for the vast majority of the time, especially last season, he is class.

Benny also has a great understanding down the left flank with Bale, who has had his best games when Benny is behind him.

If we are serious about keeping our best players, then Benny must not be sold.
