Sturridge and Adebayor would both have incentive to do well but i'd be surprised if they come to us. As much as I want adebayor, I think he'd have a good six month and then fall back into moody character. I'd still take him though.

Fuck me.

How long are we going to have to wait for a striker,it seems like we have been waiting for years .
Does anyone think the club know how badly a striker is needed.

We play better against the big teams, raise our game, I am more confident about games against Everton, City, Scum, Utd, Liverpool etc than I am games against Stoke, Bolton, Wigan etc, if we don't get someone in by Everton its not the end of the world, we went to Anfield a few games ago and turned them over with the squad we have now.

Quality strikers are going to wait till the end of the window to see what options they have, we have to be patient

We didn't score vs City twice last season, & twice Utd. We never beat Everton last season. Only wins came from Pool twice and Scum once.

I think we have been patient enough to be frank, it was clear for everyone to see that we needed to sign a striker in January... nothing happened, its shaping up to be the same story in this window.

You would have thought they would at-least be close to a striker bearing in mind what happened in January (rather the lack of what happened). The more weeks go by the less likely it is that teams will sell as they would want sufficient time to look for a replacement.

Whether we are talking about 13th August or 31st August as the key date, the fact remains that the season finished over 2 months ago. We have had plenty of time leading up to that to highlight our ain targets and go after them. If they were not avaialble we move to the next option?

but no........we seem to have no strategy. If you are a striker at some point you will be lined up for a Tottenham transfer!

This is getting frustating

thats not a good post matt - completely defeats the point you are trying to make - i have some sympathy with the only 'three weeks or so to go' view because at the end of the day that is when the season starts and its going to be close this year so the more time with an improved team the better

i know what you mean. at the same time i get that it's not as simple as having a strategy and presto you get the folks you targeted. it's all pretty fluid. that said... it is a little surprising that given the obvious issues we had with our strikers last season, that it hasn't been addressed earlier in the window.

i'll try and reserve judgement. but if we still have no one come the morning the 31st, i'll be annoyed, 'cos that sort of gambling with our fortune is borderline unforgiveable.

Its all about Madrid, if they dont want him I think we'll get Adebayor - but will obviously have to pay top whack in wages with him taking a hell of a pay cut...which he'll need to do in any case if he wants to play regular first team football next season.

City see themselves as too big to be concerned about us...they see themseleves on United and Chelsea's level now, with us, Arsenal and Liverpool being the tier below.

Adebayor has the chance to become the main man at Tottenham, striker wise, and I think privately he'll be very warm to the idea if Madrid dont come knocking.

If Madrid had really wanted him they would of probably had the deal done by now, they obviously have other targets in mind and Adebayor could well be a last resort for them...so I think it will go to the wire and hinges on Madrid's ability to get better - lets hope they do.

I am as keen as anyone to get a new striker or 2 but unless we are in a position to offer them £160k a week to get them now then it ain't gonna happen.

A quality striker is going to think -

Do Real want me
Do Inter want me
Do Barca want me
Do Bayern want me
Do City want me
Do Utd want me
Do Juve want me
Do Chelsea want me

He will wait until the end part of the window to get the deal he wants and if none of the big wage sides bite he will think on August 31st, ok fair enough Spurs it is.

We are not a big draw, we have to pick up the scraps that others higher up the wage paying food chain don't want

We have to sell before we can buy. Noone wants to buy what we want to sell. We should accept that Robbie Keane and David Bentley will be with us next season.

the season finished 2 months ago but the scouts have had since summer of the berbs move to look for a decent replacement. They have not! We are a shambles of a club in the tw.

Peanut on COYS re Modric...

United made an enquiry early in the summer.

Gill and Alexander both know Levy well enough not to bother when he is this adamant.

i sometimes wonder if the club deliberately leak info to the supposed ITK, hell there was comment last august how the club was shattered not to have signed a striker in that window (please don't use VDV as an example) he fell in our lap. they were going to do everything to ensure that we signed a top striker in the january window as CL footie was way too important.

anyone remember the lines we were sold last august. 1. we need to first see who we get in the qualifying round as it was pointless signing these players and then not qualifying for the proper rounds. 2. when we got young boys we then wanted to qualify before we signed our star players. 3 then when we qualified the goal posts moved once agian.

all i know is that the season ended in May two and a bit months ago. unless the player was based on Mars it does not take that long to get one. we are being hood winked into thinking that one is on the way. we are being sold the same line as in the last 3 windows.

Keane will be sold, even if Levy has to take 3 million for him instead of 4.5 million...he'll want him off the wage bill more than anything and another season could see him have little or no market value.

Bentley will either be in the squad or sent out on loan.

To us hardcore fans we are the mighty Spurs, to the typical world class player we are relative small fry in reality, we are not the draw that we like to think we are as hardcore fans, players are by and large ruled by money.

We made CL last year and again to the hardcores that should put us on the map but Everton didn't become a big draw when they qualified for the CL.

Until we get the stadium sorted out we will not be able to eat at the top table unless a miracle like VDV falls into our laps in reality

I know, however we have had 3/4 transfers windows at this now, we shouldn't need to be waiting as long as we have, never mind even more.

Actually, we signed a top striker last Summer...and everyone was very happy about it.
His name is VDV.
No-one envisaged our other strikers being so poor at the start of last season, nor how miserably they would fail to adapt to playing with VDV.
We are only really talking about last January.
Please, people, stop being so melodramatic. Thankyou.

We aint got a hope in hell of getting 4th. Why spend massive money on strikers to finish 5th or 6th. Our squad is capable of that as it is. That is how im now thinking levy is thinking!!

Re: Vucinic. Man United will meet Roma this week according to Italian media. Sabatini would rather sell abroad than Juve.

If it's a choice between us and United then, well, we know the rest of the story

Its to late to make any wholesale changes, we'll probably just add 1 or 2 players. I think the amount that needs improving is just to much in a short space of time.
All players want these days is money and champions league which is the biggest stumbling block.
