Levy should be looking at getting Ab at knock down fee to offset any wages we need to pay.

Christ City want shot and not many in Europe can really afford his wages so come on Levy work ya magic and get him for next to nothing.

I know that a few years back some of our players had in their contracts that their salary would always be the same as the highest paid player. Not sure if that is the case now, but i would hope not, otherwise getting rid of deadwood to pay someone a huge salary, could end up costing more

That was Anderton to stop him going to Manu.

That depends, If we offload Keane and Hutton and say we free up £100k, One striker and big name striker could come in on £100k, Where are we losing out financially? Just moving out deadwood and bringing in quality for the combined wage.

My understanding was that our wage structure was that we spend upton a certain percentage of turnover in wages. If we are now going to break this structure it would imply that we will no longer be paying large transfer fees.

Can't believe people are negative about potentially signing Adebayor, when I read POTL comments I was instantly on a high purely at the thought of us being close to something potentially big...

Even if its not Adebayor would hope it is a big name, I would be rather underwhelmed at Hunterlaar breaking our wage structure...

For those saying they don't want Adebayor -

I know it's for the gooners, but i want that passion at my club, and i want that killer instinct in front of goal!

I geniunely wonder how much of the anti-Adebayor sentiment is latent gooner hatred. He's completely and exactly what we need up front. And he's most definitely a statement of intent to the likes of Modric - the bloke was playing for Real last season FFS.

I think there is a degree of that, still.
I was spitting teeth last Summer at the thought is signing Gallas. I always maintained, however, that if he did sign I would become his number one fan, instantly. As things transpired, I was glad Redknapp went ahead and signed him, discarding my advice:grin:

This is one of those urban myths, the club has a wage budget not a ceiling, hence the need to get rid of the deadwood to enable less squad numbers to get paid more. :bang:

GF - this has been explained so many times in so many different ways - some Spurs fans still just want to believe that there is a wage cap - it allows them to have an easy explanation and an easy blame-target.

We can't afford to break this wage structure, especially not for Adebayor. All hell's going to break loose, Bale and co. are going to be wanting parity and then we're in trouble...

If we're going to break it for someone, make them worthwhile, like Llorente.

This.

I really hope Blue is not Ade.

I think Ade would do well for us but i seem to remember POTL saying blue and yellow would keep modric happy. I dont see Ade as being a statement of intent to Modric, unless POTL rates Ade alot higher than the rest of us.

Speak for yourself buddy, I think Adebayor is a massive upgrade on what we already have and Im sure Modric would recognise this too. I actually think that out of all the strikers who we have been linked to he is the most perfect fit for us.

Me too - though I think Huntelaar would do a job for us. Adebayor, however is a much better prospect. He has all the attributes we need, strong, powerfull and has quick feet. He also has a point to prove to those who have doubted him.
That could make him very dangerous IMO.

I would rather have him on our side.

I assume people think storm is Adebayor or Barton because they're marmite. Some will love some will hate, hence take cover or dance. If storm is related to samba, then that's just bollox.

Storm initially was thought to have been about Madrid though, so meh. Adebayor doesn't count really as he's City.
