]All we can do is continue to be patient.

There comes a point though where we end up the wrong side of the transfer window without a quality striker in our team, it happened in Jan and it's 22 days away from happening as we speak. I agree we need to be patient, but there's been very little serious links with us and any striker so far this window.

Madrid never paid the reported price for Diarra and his wages are actually relatively low compared to others at Madrid. Wages not a problem.

Also read someone saying Tottenham want £14million for Bentley. NO they don’t.

Cheers Journo, we need some positive news today, keep it coming

I am still told that Rossi is the target, that could be construed as stubbornness from Harry or simply a confidence that it can be done.

Harry would surely see the qualities in Llorente though, after all, he sees them in peter crouch!

Again I apologize for the limited updates from my end, my boss is really not well at the moment and I'm keeping the hassling down to a minimum.

Just get Harry's phone number off him and cut-out the middleman. Seriously though, I hope your boss is OK and recovers quickly. I'm sure we all appreciate the info he gets for you.

Cheers Journo. Do you know how much RM did pay? And how much we are paying them?

Any more info on the Villa bids? And how much do we want for Bentley? £6M?

Everything between Tottenham and Villa is still the same.
You have offers for Keane, Hutton and Jenas.
Keane will go to Villa if Tottenham accept.
Hutton will go to Villa if Tottenham accept.
Jenas has a contact offer from villa if Tottenham accept. He will then need to accept.

Everthing (incomings/outgoings) is all in Tottenhams hands.
You have offers for both (incomings/outgoings) all waiting to be finalised.
Maybe the looters have stolen Daniel Levys fax machine but its ALL being held up your end.

Diarra will be done.

Sounds like good news, thanks for the update.
One question, what's the situation regarding German interest, has that all gone cold?

I'm a firm member of the camp that believes it's a false economy leaving everything until the last minute. When you're going for top drawer strikers from bigish clubs, buying that late leaves them no time to replace the player, and I really don't see Bilbao letting Llorente go or Villareal parting with Rossi on August 31, unless they're offered stupidly over the odds.
The only one who I think could be allowed to go on deadline day is Adebayor, as City will be keen to ship him out if he's still around by that point. But taking the gamble that he'll still be available on August 31 and that it'll all go through smoothly is playing an almighty game of chance with our hopes of doing anything this season.
I also don't get the logic in giving your squad no pre-season together to work on shape and communication and in putting the manager under the strain of playing five or six important games without the players he wants. He'll either be on the sausage roll or playing catch up come September 1.

This is the thing, if they have a replacement in or have others who can step up etc....it can work if the player wanting out really dig their heels.

The problem is I dont think any of the strikers we are being linked with are likely to do that (apart from Adebayor maybe) so the asking price for these players will grow the closer we come to deadline day, and if there isn't a replacement in etc we'll have no chance - it is that simple. Levy is bound to know this.

On that premise I see it very unlikely that we sign a Rossi or Llorente etc..

I think this window is nothing short of shambolic. Ive tried to stay away from this forum for much of the summer so not to get upset.

To think that we will sign the players we need in 20 days when we havnt come close in the last 3 or 4 windows is naive.

I can see us scrambling around on last day trying to find this years Frazier Campbell.

from what ive heard when tottenham offered Bentley to villa the conversation didnt last long enough to discuss a transfer fee.
But he was offered at the time that villa offered money for hutton, crouch, jenas and that deal was around £15million made by Villa. so to put bentley into that sort of deal it couldnt be anywhere near £14million for Bentley.

I am told that Diarra would be around £12million. I dont think madrid even finished paying for him from how i heard the conversation. but to say they paid over £20million is way off.

Believe you are misinterpreting DP's post. Try again.

Its a gross over simplification to be honest, and there are many factors, variables and external sources in play which can be beyond the Club's control - particularly the climate of the market at present and the changing nature of rules and regulations. We arn't privy to hell of a lot things regarding our transfer dealings.

I believe you're misinterpreting my post.

Enquiry for Ruiz but Harry isn't too sure.
Shane Long is being touted and fits Levy policy
Rossi and Llorente = Dreams
Adebayor - Nothing moving until City agree to pay part of wages and Levy hoping they get desperate regarding 180k per week
Higuain/Benzema - Enquiry by Levy but none of them for sale stance by RM
Diarra - Deal is 99% done, Club waiting for Palacious to move on before completing
Pedro Leon - Deal could be done depending on Harry

Maybe Diarra deal is done and maybe the club feels it would be in bad taste at he current time to parade a new footballer who cost millions of pounds and who is on a weekly wage that some people couldn't earn in 10 years.

DP was putting it into a historical context.

regarding germany. [FONT=&quot]I have never changed my stance on Huntelaar. whether you sign him today next week or the last day of the window. Farfan to. dont know who the german defender was/is.
also interesting that Schalke signed another forward last week and gave a contract to another one of their younger players whos a forward. they have 6 strikers on there books at the minute.

Sorry but that just sounds stupid to me.

London rioting has nothing to do with any of the above.

If I wasn't flying to NYC on my honeymoon the day after the window shuts I would be seriously depressed right now - this window has blown, and I can't see us getting was we need.
