Ahhh the old, 'Harry isn't sure' routine... sigh.

Yeah that's why we didn't sign Suarez who has just been an absolute revelation for Liverpool scoring fucking bucketloads and not acting like a bucked-toothed, moany, cheating wee ****.

I'm waiting for the now predictable 'Levy and Harry fighting' post from some other punter.

For the love of God please tell me you are being sarcastic here?? Bucketloads of goals?? Would that be the 4 goals in 13 appearances you are talking about??Eek

Palacios to Stoke sure as hell has gone hush...all the talk is Upson to Stoke, nothing on Palacios whatsoever.

Levy may be a good businessman but he's proving to be no football man, we've a massive start to a very difficult and important season

patience is needed. if wilson is off spurs arent going to seel him without having someone in his place, even more so that we are lacking numbers there.

i expect by friday lunchtime we will have diarra available for everton.

Why, if we have had offers for Keane, Hutton (and to a lesser degree, Jenas) haven't agreed to their sale? Surely this is exactly what we've wanted in order to kickstart some movement on incomings?

Bently clearly isn't going to get a game for us anytime soon/ever, so why not just bite the bullet, accept virtually any bids (£5mil), and get him off the wage bill?

The palacios/Diarra balancing act I can understand.

As for striker(s), not a Danny wtf is going on.

regarding the german defender;
i dont know who it was.
it was suggested that he was a centre half that could cover left full back.

The German defender i've heard which im sure has been mentioned is Mertersacker,a considerable improvement on Chris Samba imo.Who according to SSN is injured and will miss the 1st few games of the season(fits the mould then of the current crop of spurs centre halves)

Yeah I read on the sky text last night that Samba has a groin injury and could miss the first few weeks of the season.

Levy's penny-pinching and bean-counting is incredibly frustrating. The phrase cutting your nose off to spite your face springs to mind

You can't have your cake and eat it, he wants top dollar for our spare parts but won't pay top dollar for other clubs established players

Forgot to add, I know it may sound slightly insensitive in light of recent activities, but I'd actually be quite happy for our game against everton to be postponed.

Get our targets in, give them a few training sessions to get to know one and other, and full steam ahead into the Man Utd game on the 22nd (in an ideal world)

Let's see what happens, we have a great squad and I'm sure everyone's frustration is just the lack of football. A nice win over everton at the weekend and we will all feel much happier I'm sure. It's implausible that we won't sign a striker this window so just sit back and wait to see who it is!

No, you were being quite rude towards me with you snide comments.

Once again, I never blamed Levy. I suggested that during his tenure, the early signings tend to be more thought out and better suited to succeed. Last second purchases tend to be reactionary buys and more likely to fail. Perhaps that would have been better wording, but I was thinking that out as I wrote. And I don't think a change in language would have diminished those who see me as the old DP, who was too negative, wanting to have a go because of my previous tone.

But my argument is not 100%, and I don't present it such. I find the term simplification when I do present nuance, to be rather ironic.

But as we progress in August, the chance of signings not panning out is significantly higher. And the facts are there by looking at transfer history.

And I was saying that, for example, Rocha was a stupid reactionary buy and not that he would have been Ledley King if bought in May. That was a poor interpretation.

There was nothing condemning in my post. I use Levy as an era for the most part. He is no more to blame for Rocha than he is to be given credit for Sandro. But he does control the club and has massive influence on how we proceed in our business. My post was just a worry that we are passing into reactionary purchase time. Thus Ruiz suddenly appears. Who else will pop up onto the radar? Will they be good fits?

Rossi and Diarra, just to clarify, would not be this even if happened at 11:59 on the 31st. Going back to Stoof's point, in these two cases, we do have definitive proof that there has been a long standing interest in them.

If you continue to see me as an inflammatory character on the boards, then you have ignored the tone of my posts for the last month (other than Wilson/Harry yesterday)

I didn't mean to be rude DP, maybe I didn't convey it in the best way but I apologise if I caused any offence.

Of course the early signings have often proved to be best but surely there is a high emphasis on what the current manager wanted/wants as lists will be made up at the end of the season. That list is what Levy has to go on and the content of such will dictate/influence how deals progress...ie are they realistic targets etc...many variables that are out of Levy's control.

I agree with the general thrust of your post just not so sure its as black and white all the time.

Dont have time now to go on, so we could start a thread about this if you like?

This is true given the fact the Everton home game will now be played in deepest November. Does give us another week to get Crouch prepared...

And lazy fuckwits who can be bothered to better themselves and become productive members of society aren't going to give a shit about a football club signing a player when they're too busy playing with their newly stolen xbox.

End of rioting rant from me.

You are all heart.

If we're going to sign a centre-back, we shouldn't be looking further than Per Mertersacker (26, available for around £7m) or Alex (29, available for around £10.5m).

Either would be incredible.

We're all afraid that our ambition for the club is Llorente/Falcao/Rossi/Adebayor and Levy and Redknapp's is Long/Ameobi/Taylor-Fletcher etc.

Bring Back Irving Scholar!

Eek

I honestly believe we will bring in a striker. HR, DL and everyone else knows what we need, there is no "well, we tried" we WILL sign a striker. The trouble is, HR would prefer a PL proven striker, which are out there, but they're either stupidly expensive, or not an upgrade on what we have at the moment.

So, just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride, which we're all used to.

I can feel the tension on the board from here today, not good

SP dons his best curly Scouse bubble-perm wig/wooly 'tache, and gaudy shell-suit; puts on his best high-pitched Scouse accent:

"CALM DOWN, SCALLIES"

I reckon with so much unrest in here, it's just a matter of time till the looting and destruction begins

SP is designing Nano-Rioters as you speak :shifty::shifty::shifty:

There was something on NewsNow about Mertersacker maybe leaving Germany - haven't heard any ITK on him coming to us...unless you are that ITK Eek

Breaking news

Tottenham's new signing is the Italian, Grabatelli
