If you'd bothered to pay attention, you'd know that it's been posted that Bilbao's chairman doesn't want to piss off the fans by selling off their star striker, and will only do so if the €36m buy-out clause is triggered. How this makes Llorente 'the affordable one' isn't entirely clear. Perhaps you could elucidate.

I just love the way people are treating two completely contradictory snippets from BEN (whose record of getting things right in recent seasons has been about as good as his English) as gospel.

Because our whole financial model under ENIC is built around paying modest wages to enable us to be able to pay high transfer fees.

Llorente's wages will be 1/3 of Adebayor's and we probably only need to get close to his £31m buy-out clause. That's why he's the affordable one.

Is there any substance to the claim that this could possibly be the last window when teams can spend silly money on players due to Financial Fair Play? If so, Levy could be a genius working out a loan move, saving up the cash to be spent later on.

Yep, good thought.

I can picture it now as they are both sat in Levy's office with their contracts on the table...

Diarra: "Manu, you sign."
Manu: "No. You sign Lass."
Diarra: "No. u first!"
Manu: "No way. As soon as you do it, I will!"
Diarra: "I asked you first!"
Levy "Please sign here"
Diarra "Not until you sign Ade"
Levy "Please sign here"
Adebayor "Not until you Sign Lass"
Levy "Please sign here"
Carlton Cole "Deal"

It's not Harrys prerogative to worry about price, it's Levys. If levy is willing to pay what it takes to get Llorente then Harrys only concern should be how to impress Llorente when they next meet, because Llorente is a huge upgrade on what we have. The info didn't say 'Harry thinks he's overpriced' or 'Harry doesn't think he'd fit in'. The info said Harry is not impressed, so I stand by what I said. If Harry, or anyone else, manages to be unimpressed by Llorente as a target man who leads the line the quite frankly they do not deserve the pleasure of watching football.

There's a bit of an impression that Harry is afraid of spending big money on a someone who might flop. There's been indications that Levy has been willing to spend on a marquee striker but our target last year was a Fabiano, who was expected to be around £15M instead of dropping cash on Dzeko or the like. The Suarez story from January has been heavily dicsussed. It's understandable that Harry (and Levy too) would want to wait for the right player to spend that kind of money on, but Crouch/Defoe/Keane/Pav have been clearly not good enough for the level we want to be at and the dithering cost us last season.

In January as well Storts posted about the coaching stuff having doubts about how they thought he would adapt to the premier league, I remember one of the goal.com guys saying "Spurs" had some doubts of Vucinic's form and attitude too.

That said, even though I'd personally prefer Llorente, if Adebayor is still possible there certainly is an argument that he could do a better job for us, and obviously would be less of a risk if it's just a loan.

How do you know it isn't a loan with a view to a move?

So even if this deal comes off and we get a striker that improves us (at least in the short term) you're still unhappy.

I hate people sometimes. Hate.

I expected this reaction from a few of you.

You're entitled to your opinion. I just do not like Adebayor. I think he's an overrated troublemaker.

I'm sorry.

Anyone think that the reason that we haven't made an official bid for Rossi is that we are trying to tie up Adebayor first? Man City surely wouldn't loan us Ade if we'd just spunked a ton on Rossi, no? That is if we are truely after Blue & Yellow.

Premier League rules are that the player cannot be recalled. And obviously can't play against his own club.

Threre is no rule that a player can not play against his parent club and it is illegal to put that clause in a contract, however they never play do they which can only be down to a gentleman's agreement.

The league changed the rules a couple of years ago and now a player is not allowed to play against the club he is on loan from.

Oh I imagine if this Adebayor deal is close, its just about time for stories about Harry not being sold on him to start to appear. Circle of Life.

So let's get this right, we wait nearly 3 transfer windows and now we might just might borrow a striker for a top club as we can't afford to buy.
What a sorry state of affairs looks like we are turning into the west ham of north London I wish we could get a serious buyer for the club and take us forward.
Does anyone else know what's happening with all the other so called targets that are close maybe we should have a whip round for uncle Daniel so he can buy us some players of our own.
